I still go back and listen to this every once in a while. I love the original pixies version and it just might be better Edit: tmb aids but you all know what im talking about
This version of "Basket Case" from earlier in the season was great too... I was pretty pleased with myself how quickly I recognized what it was.
i hated the opening with a passion, every second was like pure torture. then the rest of the episode when it went back to normal was awesome.
I love ALF so enjoyed most of the opening. The Angela part was awesome. I'm actually okay if we get much less Elliot til he is back out of the institution or whatever. I was so nervous watching Angela do her thing.
it was an intense episode imo. Loved the needle under the fingernail. I've had that happen before. Twas not fun.
I can't understand why someone wouldn't like the opening. It was one of the most imaginative 10-15 min of tv I have ever seen. Not only that but it made absolutely great sense in how it was used. It wasn't just some filler bullshit. I kinda feel sorry for you if you didn't enjoy it.
Just caught up today. Thought the opening was fantastic. Guess we're finding out why Rami said if he could be any character this season, it'd be Angela. Good stuff.
The 90's intro song was written and performed by the same duo who did the intros for Full House, Family Matters and Step by Step. Link to the intro for those wanting to listen to it again: link since embedding is broken here now
Yeah, I'm with the people saying the opening was great. Loved this episode. Figured it would get mixed reviews here, just like the fly episode of BB
It's losing me. I loved the first season but I'm really finding it hard to pay attention to the new episodes
Holy shit, Joey Badass living up to that name this week. Wonder what his role is going forward now that we know he knows Whiterose.
I was so close the last few episodes to ditching the prison theory but the red lights in Krista's office and the dining room where he met with Gideon, Darlene and Angela always brought me back to it. Was happy to see the red light playing a big part in the reveal.
had never even heard of this show but I was on an AA flight the other day where they played an episode and I loved it. Didn't realize it was so highly regarded. Obviously I'm going to watch from episode 1 but I'm wondering how far into the story the episode I watched was? The main character infiltrated a big corporation by posing as a tech billionaire, then social engineered his way to a secure floor (damn he just destroyed the poor fat guy's soul) and then after the guys in the van sent a lady a text about her husband in the hospital he was met/stopped by somebody he knew. thanks
That's actually episode 5. There are reasons I remember it so easily but I don't want to even hint at anything else and spoil it for you.
Such a great show. I was leaning institution earlier in the season, but the roving band of skinhead rapists was obviously a tipoff. The pyromaniac in drag kind of pointed that way, too.
so with the prison reveal i don't get what happened re ray and the website and elliot getting beat up. how does that fit into the delusion?
Self-admittedly I haven't been watching as close as some, but it seems to be Ray's situation was the device to get him back to hacking/taking down Evil Corp. And the whole situation with Ray was just an isolated thing, wherein Elliot was able to help people (end black market trafficking) again with his skills and punish those who thought they could get away with their misdeeds. I need to rewatch though because I missed parts of the beginning of the episode.
Pretty sure ray was his prison councilor. Would explain the private office and computer, as well as being able to summon Elliot whenever he needed.
so did elliot just imagine all the stuff about the website with drugs and human trafficking? What about getting beat up by Ray's people and all the cuts on his face? What about the pack of guys that were going to beat up/rape Elliot and his black friend saved him? I'm guessing hat he got beat up in prison for something. Was probably about to get raped in the shower or something when his black friend (forget his name) saved him. Still doesn't explain the website.
Maybe a companion dog for inmates? Just a shot in the dark. I also wonder if the reason Ray was able to get to Elliot is because Leon (Joey Bada$$) couldn't protect him from a prison employee.
I was only half serious about the dog. it was one of the first questions that popped in my head but I can easily move on without ever getting further explanation for it.
Ray's site was the show's version of Silk Road. They even used the real site founder's login when the other guy showed Elliot the site. According to reddit Ray was probably a reference to the primary moderator of Silk Road who was a behavioral scientist at a prison in Australia. Here's an article on that guy... https://www.deepdotweb.com/2015/02/28/silk-road-mod-ssbd-peter-nash-in-plea-talks/
so much shit in the air at one time. Why is Elliot in jail? Whiterose what are you doing with everyone? Angela? FBI cyber chick? I was pissed at this reveal, but I figured we'll get the answers soon. also, is it me or is Angela only partially in the frame during her scenes? Bottom corner or side but not in the middle. Finally, I will be pissed if this ends up opaque like Rubicon (such a great show that was too quickly swept into the shitter).
Fantastic episode. He has been in jail no longer than 2 months so its not a serious crime at all. Maybe some vandalism or theft or something during his breakdown after the hack. He obviously wasn't found with Tyrell's body and that I can't wait to find out more about. I liked Angela saying she isn't dumb then immediately fucking up by overplaying her hand so obviously.
I agree, Angela was my only complaint about the episode. everything she did once she got to the Risk Mgmt Dept was so transparent.
Ummmm no. None of the events were made up (there was a website, he did get beat up, the guys were going to rape him). All of it just happened in prison and not in the real world
so the warden has that crazy website. maybe it crashed and he needed a computer nerd to fix it. he can't just call any IT company because of the nature of the website. he knew he had a guy in his prison that was a hacker. botta bing botta boom.
Also the editing of the prison reveal was so well done. That had to take forever to replace parts of sets to film that.
Just finished the this week's ep. So great. Editing of the reveal stuck out to me too. Done wrong, it comes off as cheap or non-believable, but they nailed it.
Read an interesting theory that makes a lot of sense regarding that...basically she was being purposefully stupid: After Dom questions Angela, and Darlene says "We just owned the FBI," Angela has a freaked out look on her face. "Oh my God, what am I doing?" she is asking herself. "I'm in danger of being arrested for the 5/9 hack and for being jailed for the rest of my life." She is the one that inserted the disc at AllSafe, after all. It's probably considered a terrorist action; she might just get hustled off to some government facility and tortured for information. She leans back and realizes the world of shit she's in. She knows Darlene / FSoc is using her. She knows Price is using her. She knows her ex is trying to protect himself by implicating her. She knows Elliot is in jail. Most important of all, she knows Dom in on her trail. She talks to Darlene and becomes even more sure that she's on her own. "No more smokescreens" says Darlene as she blows a cloud of smoke. Angela thinks about the fact that the guy who gave her the AllSafe disc is working with FSoc. So she plans her defense and starts to enact it. Here are her actions: She tells her Dad about the settlement. Tells him E-Corp values and respects her. Leaves with bad feelings between them. She tells Price she wants in Risk Management, even though she could ask for a higher position. Turns his offer of dinner (and more?) down. Once in her new job, she continuously asks for server access. Saying she's being obvious is understating it. She inserts herself into a meeting and each person there knows that she is trying to get information on her Mother's death. Her boss tells her he is on to her and that he can treat her however he wants. On first viewing, I was sure this was all an aspect of some bigger plan to battle Price and expose E-Corp, but it's not. She might still be in position to do that later, but she is 100% trying to protect herself from arrest. The Dad is saddened by her actions. He feels she has betrayed him and her mother's memory. Price has just seen her choose petty, obvious revenge over advancement, and felt the sting of her rejection to dinner. Maybe she's not the person he was hoping she was. Not worth protecting, for sure. Her new boss sees her clumsy attempts, and tells her Price gave him freedom to treat her however he wants. Would that be the case if she had accepted dinner? Maybe not. Dom will interview these people, and will piece together (or be outright told by the Risk Management head) the story that Angela is feeding her. The best part is that the story is mostly true. Sheis there to find out about her Mother's death and the policies that led to it. But she was going to be subtle about it, play the long game. That all went out the window with the FBI hack and Dom's questioning. Her only hope now is to be seen as an amateur, plotting clumsy, obvious, revenge. Not a 5/9 mastermind, not a Dark Army or FSoc hacker capable of breaking into the FBI's databse, just a grieving daughter trying to hold E-Corp accountable. The real question is if Dom buys into it. She seems bright enough to figure the truth out, and I suspect one or more of our main players will be working with her next season, fighting against the Dark Army. But I'm pretty sure this will, at the very least, throw off the investigation for a few episodes.
Elliot's scars appear to be gone when he's at the chapel/meeting apologizing to the faith based counselor. When Mr. Robot is talking to him his face is clear.
And no Elliot. I thought when someone was coming in that it was going to be Elliot finally rejoining the group but then it was E Corp lady and everything just spiraled out of control.
So the reason for no Elliot is because this episode took place during the previous episode. Obviously we had the same scene early on where Darlene asks "what's with the looks" when Mobley, Trenton and Cisco are hanging out around the laptop but other things throughout the episode further prove this. The talk about the 4th of July and then the bull's balls crashing through the Capitol. Also, at the risk assessment powwow Angela went to last episode they made a little joke about Susan (E Corp lady whose house fsociety is working out of) not making it. She didn't make it because she was already dead or at least being held by fsociety at that point.
