I'm flat out addicted to Civ 5 after rediscovering it earlier this year. I'm worried that Civ VI is going to take over my life.
i wasn't planning on putting anything but the os and civ 6 on there. what would the rest of the space be for?
Civ games are the single most dangerous games for me by far the easiest game to completely lose like 5 hours without blinking

if any of you live near a gamestop you might be able to get bioshock:infinite for 97 cents http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/bioshock-infinite/84472
Someone give me a good reason not to buy this card https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1070-GAMING/dp/B01GXOX3SW
That's a great card that you will probably won't have to replace for 3-5 years unless you just go super enthusiastic about it
thanks. this whole pc building thing is very new to me and i just don't want to put a bunch of money into something pointless.
the only thing to keep in mind if you buy a card like that, you have to make sure all your other components can keep up. You don't want to buy a crazy great graphics card and then a subpar mobo. Whatever the most powerful part of your PC, you have to make sure you complement it with everything else you buy, or you are wasting money by not allowing that component to reach its potential.
made a few changes even :) http://pcpartpicker.com/list/PHjzYr will probably buy one monitor now and wait for slickdeals to a 2nd, same with hdd
final product for now. everything but the 2.5 ssd and processor are on the way, those two will be bought on pay day. so excite. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/mmXxGf
Cannot recommend SSDs enough. The performance gains outweigh the extra price. I don't have any platter HDs anymore except in the QNAP.
Death Road to Canada is pretty great. It's kind of in the same spirit as FTL + Oregon Trail with zombies, but funny. Also it's on sale. http://store.steampowered.com/app/252610/ About This Game Spoiler Death Road to Canada is a Randomly Generated Road Trip Simulator. You control and manage a car full of jerks as they explore cities, recruit weird people, argue with each other, and face gigantic swarms of slow zombies. Death Road is built for replay value. Everything is randomized: locations, events, survivor appearances and personalities. There's a different story every time you play, set in a world that doesn't take itself too seriously. Death Features: Up to 500 zombies can hunt you down at a time. Fight them, try to squirm past, or run. Use the character creator to put yourself, friends, and family in the game. Have them show up at random to get eaten! Find special and rare events, weapons, and characters with strange abilities. Make tough choices in Interactive Fiction events. Get different options and results based on the traits of your party members. Teach a dog how to drive a car. Throw chairs. Get your characters strong enough to throw large sofas. Most family friendly zombie apocalypse game on the market! Any gore explosion is in a cute style. We censor the word d*ngus once. Tell people to "Cool it." 2 player local same screen co-op where you control up to 4 characters! If you have someone to play locally with, it's probably even better

my steam library is quite limited and i haven't really started buying anything yet. i don't even know where to start tbh.
Witcher 3 is a good place to start. Is this your first gaming PC? There's plenty of classics that still hold up today if you've never been a PC gamer.
Was fucking around with this free "game" called Space Engine. It's a procedurally generated universe like No Man's Sky, but the graphics are insane and all the planets are modeled on a 1:1 scale. There's no real gameplay so to speak, but it's really beautiful and most likely a good stress test for your rig.
Ok, so here's some games you have to play at some point (these days there aren't many that haven't appeared on console, so I'm trying to stick mainly to PC exclusives (with a few exceptions), and most of them would fall under the "oldies but goodies" classification: - Half Life, Half Life 2 and associated episodes of extra content - Portal 2 - Civilization 5 - Any of the Command and Conquer games you can - Diablo 2 - Unreal Tournament - Star Wars: Dark Forces & Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 - Total War: Shogun 2 - Age of Empires 2 - Monkey Island games - No One Lives Forever - Warcarft 2 - Syndicate - Quake / Quake 2
the extent of my pc gaming history is kotor, civ 3 and 4, random sims, various rts from way back, wow
well you've got a good start then. Chances are you played C&C and Warcraft at some point. Since you played KOTOR, you're guaranteed to like the Dark Forces games if you are down with FPS. They are really old school in every way, so the graphics may be more (less) than you can take, but as a Star Wars fan you should enjoy it. if you only play one set of games off this list, make it Half Life and Half Life 2.
http://www.pcgamer.com/ps-now-on-pc-leak/ Sony confirms PS Now is coming to the PC “This will bring a wide selection of PlayStation exclusive titles to Windows PC for the very first time, including entries in the Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank franchises, as well as beloved PS3 games like The Last of Us and Journey,” Sony said. “Current subscribers have a new way to access PS Now’s library of over 400 games, and the PC app provides a new way for even more gamers to discover and play the service.”
Poor Sony isn't going to have any big announcements left for the PS Meeting. I think PS Now PC is awesome for the PC only folks, might create some Sony fans to buy the consoles too.
Been having connection issues the past couple nights, and I'm not good with network issues. Essentially my connection drops in team fights (heavy download/upload scenarios.) As best I can figure, this is packet loss. The problem resolved when I reset both the modem and router, but occurs again in the next team fight setting. Tonight I'm going to try running straight of my modem to make sure the router is truly the issue. As it stands, I've updated my router's firmware and restarted everything numerous times. That's the extent of my technical ability. Any other suggestions?
Question - I run a cable out to my 4K tv directly from my graphics card sometimes to use it as a monitor for gaming. I'm getting quite a bit of screen flicker. Any of you guys know why that would be? Is it a refresh rate thing or something?
http://www.wingamestore.com/product/6078/Deus-Ex-Mankind-Divided/ Lowest price I've seen it. Ends Nov 1st I think. And yes, the store is legitimate. I thought it was fake too.
