And now my USA channel keeps fucking up on me. Mr. Robot was literally going to be the only highlight of my day. Thanks a lot Shentel, fucking assholes.
Speaking of music, song in the truck/van at the start when they were transporting her was in Back to the Future. As was Earth Angel at the end. No idea what that means but it has to be somehthing.
So when Angela walked into that room with the fish and it was just silent for like 10 seconds I said... "What the fuck is going on?" Not even 2 seconds later she said the exact same thing. I'M FREAKING OUT MAN. As for the rest... can't wait for next week.
If anyone has a link to a review or a podcast that explains what I watched last night, Id very much appreciate it.
I think part 2 will answer a lot of the bigger questions we still have at the moment and it was supposed to air last night. There is a theory as to why it was pushed back a week and I'll put that in spoilers since it could very well be true much like the prison thing that a guy on reddit figured out after the first half of the season premiere. Spoiler Stage 2 may involve taking down E Corp's HQ. Last season they delayed the season finale because of that news crew shooting. A show being aired just a few days after the 15th anniversary of 9/11 with a skyscraper in NYC coming down probably wouldn't be ideal.
Just the Dark Army being the Dark Army, imo. Whiterose is genuinely intrigued by why Phillip Price has made a deal with xyr to keep Angela alive so xe administers some sort of personality examination to learn about her. I guess a little girl takes Angela off of her guard or makes her more likely to complete the test? I like the 5.25" floppy, btw.
IMO, the Whiterose and Joanna characters are unnecessarily weird. It's too much. There's already enough going on with shadowy organizations and a main character with a tenuous grasp of reality.
Mr. Robot is teetering on the edge of being too fucking weird. And I generally think the weirder the better.
So next week, when it goes from being a hacking show to being a zombie show, who's going to be pissed?
I'm still leaning towards some Twin Peaks style creepy shit after those scenes where Angela was with the little girl and Whiterose.
this season has been too much. it has been great at times and awful at times. it's like prog rock or King Crimson or something. Some of it is so good, so why did you have to get artistic and try to make a statement that is complete crap with the rest. ok so it's not that bad, but you get what i'm saying
Pretty sure it was directly from BTTF. They even included the last 10 seconds from this video which sounds more like some kind of 80's outtro overlaid on top of the song. *Disclaimer: there's about a 95% chance that I don't know wtf I'm talking about.
is he making some sort of political statement re China's hegemonic aggression? Is this show actually funded by Donald J Trump?
I read that all of the music was from BTTF. It threw me because as they're pulling into the garage of the Dark Army house (in NJ, I'm assuming) they were playing the Ballad of Davy Crockett and I didn't remember the Davy Crockett theme song being in BTTF - a quick googling tells me it was, though.
So if we combine everything we know about the music all being from BTTF; Phillip Price and Whiterose being in some sort of race to cement their legacies/take the next step in human evolution/whatever; Whiterose's obsession with time; the show getting weirder; I'm going to guess that Angela was performing her own interview. Her younger self traveled from the past to the present, was trained on how to interview her older self but wasn't exposed to current technology because they didn't want her knowing she was in the future. That's why everything in the house, computer included, looked like it was from the 80s. (I don't believe this, but I want to put it out there in case it's something like this...) Thinking about it, I'd assume that Whiterose would be involved in some sort of immortality experiment, but I may be wrong.
some of the theories in here are really nuts (I know not all are serious). I expect next week to be based in reality. I don't expect this show to go sci-fi on us.
I think Whiterose is appropriately weird but I agree with Joanna. She doesn't seem like a big picture player right now and her scenes this season didn't really seem necessary other than to remind us that Tyrell may still be out there but we were getting that with Elliot regardless so... yeah. Mostly agree with this. I think we could see something with a bit of sci-fi to it but nothing crazy like aliens or Elliot being a fucking cyborg (actual theories from reddit).
This scene served a purpose: (I was about to post a pic of the opening scene where Joanna getting dressed but I couldn't find a screen cap so I'll post this one) Spoiler
I thought he said that it was a movie idea that ran way too long so he converted into a 3 season TV show. I kinda was hoping that there was an ending already planned because this doesn't seem like the show that can just keep going.
He definitely had it as a movie idea before and it's going to have three relatively clear acts but it's going to be over 4-5 seasons. He tweeted it just in response to a viewer during last season.
I liked the text adventure thing. It was beyond weird though and not sure all of that staging was necessary. But BD Wong is awesome and I always want more White Rose. I just hate that tonight's ep will leave me wanting way more for the next year.
If some stuff seemed unclear then this Esmail interview may help... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/mr-robot-season-2-finale-931569 Also...
season 3 has a chance to be really good they can take it anywhere they want to they just need to get away from all this artsy fartsy stuff and worry more about character development and story
Season 2 was reactive to 1 and setting up 3. It moved the plot along and added a lot of depth to the story. Tough to follow up season 1 but I think this is going to be a show we'll need to judge when its over in a few years.
I don't even really know how to go about explaining it. If you've seen Twin Peaks, you'll kinda get it when you get to that part of the episode. But if you need cliffs on the Twin Peaks TV series, I would just Google it.
