Arena can't win when the MLS funnels him the top players, how can he be expected to win with a small pool of players
seriously though, Gulati has been here ten years and he's about to hire the guy he essentially fired when he first took over the job. if that isn't stagnation I don't know what is. who does he answer to? how can hiring Arena be justified?
glad I held off on submitting my USSF review email. if it's somehow linked to our tickets then I apologize in advance for getting your membership pulled oh
If Gulati hires Arena and quits, do we get to pretend like the last decade didn't happen? Do we get Landy back in his prime?
what is the point of your existence in this thread? are you trying to troll or something? I honestly don't get it.
i dont care much for club soccer. but on a really slow monday, maybe i want to listen to some ole' ole' ole' ole' we are the champioonnns? but yeah JK shit the bed. Bradley sucks. our young guys are better. i will be impressed if we can get to russia
it's really hard to define realistic from our standpoint, but even if that's restricted to only MLS/American names, they could still do better than those two.
the fact that "making peace" with MLS is going to play a factor in the next coaching hire is infuriating beyond words
We should still get to Russia even if we had kept JK I wasn't really that worried about that. Pressure is on but win the 4 home matches (yes we lost vs Mexico in Columbus but that doesn't mean we should expect to suddenly be losing at home regularly) and we are in solid position. If we can get 3+ points from away matches vs Trinidad & Tobago, Panama and Honduras then we should be in really good shape It wouldn't be something to really be impressed with. If we somehow failed to qualify the coach will blame Jurgen but they will have fucked up too
I just don't understand what the big rush is to name a replacement, they could drag out a search for a month and still be in decent shape.
Time for Sunil to go too then. The team has been struggling for a year + so this wasn't an unforeseen situation that caught them totally off guard. Settling for Arena shows either a clear lack of preparation or a total lack of vision and leadership. Regardless it's inexcusable and a fireable offense.
Sounds like we really did our due diligence with this coaching search. Must be nice to have no accountability, huh Sunil?
