Should I read this? I know it's long af but I've seen it on so many lists of great books and I'm intrigued by it. TIA
I have nothing to add to the actual book discussion, but I really enjoyed the movie The End of the Tour. Made me put Infinite Jest on my list.
That's quite the leap. No books to one of the longest ever published. Any specific reason or just interested in it?
Watching End of Tour last summer piqued my interest. Finally decided that I would get back into reading so I went for it
I know a kid who went to Berkeley and has written a novel himself and per him this book/author is GOAT. Haven't tackled it myself but def intrigued to check out a fiction nerd's fiction nerd
You will be smarter after reading it check out his speech This is Water for a taste of how his mind works.
If everyone enjoys his essays, I know he has a collection entitled Consider the Lobster and Other Essays. I haven't read it yet, but much like Infinite Jest it's on the list.
Is this the David Foster Wallace thread now? I suppose so. I'm about two-thirds through A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again (one of his essay collections). Love the way the guy's mind works. I really enjoy him discussing sports. The first essay about him as a junior tennis player was great.
Started reading The Broom of the System. It's the book he wrote before Infinite Jest. Basically, I'm using this to determine whether I want to read the 500k word Infinite Jest or not. Seeing how this one is a third of the size (if even that much). I liked the book of essays I read a lot, so we'll see how this goes. I've never read his fiction before.
