Been reading more on the bicameral mind. As the last episode's title, I think it obviously has some crucial overtones. The thing that struck me most: the theory essentially boils down to suggesting that primitive man suffered from near-incessant hallucinations because of a disconnect between the left and right sides of the brain and overly developed brain parts called Wernicke's Area and Broca's Area (even today, schizophrenics tend to have overpowered brain activity in these regions, suggesting perhaps that that disorder is a vestigial trait). This seems to be mapped onto some hosts through these "reveries" or "memories." We've already seen Dolores "speaking" to Arnold as a "god" to her—which the Bicameral Mind posits occurred with frequency in primitive man (side note: the theory thinks this is why our deities are rendered as human-like figures...they're essentially manifestations of ourselves). Perhaps Bernard considers Ford to be his god, as well. Regardless, I feel comfortable predicting (though I hate doing this with these shows) that in episode 10, one or more of the hosts will "evolve" past the bicameral mind into the "unicameral" one that we all enjoy. This would be essentially making the leap between machine and human which Bernard was questioning Ford about in episode 8
Forgot to add that the mechanism for achieving this move from bicameral to unicameral mind is obviously the maze. Arnold built it for the hosts, not park visitors, to go through some sort of Turing Test but for the achievement of consciousness.
NYGator got a corn husker here analyzing harder than you on page 43. take care of this guy. go gators.
It's like the end of Spartacus. I have seen that movie a half a dozen times, and I still don't know who the real Spartacus is.
Well, didn't think I'd get Spartacus spoilers in this thread. Guess I had ample opportunity to watch it. :|
so, delores is wyatt in some form or fashion. delores has been though the maze. she has been to this area before. flashbacks to being in these areas which are apparently deeper into the maze. MIB wants to finish the maze. he needs to find "wyatt". recruits teddy to find wyatt. knows that teddy will always seek delores. delores tries to kill herself after realizing that she massacred the town in her memory. wyatt led the massacre. wyatt is delores?
So stoked for Sunday. Been saying it every week, MacLaren directing gives me a hard on. Going to be mad if I have to watch with any of my family awake and they ask me a shit load of questions
That's my mindset at this point but only in the original massacres that is "the truth Ford's new narrative is based on" = Dolores murked a town back in whatever year when Arnold was still alive and trying to make her become self-aware. I don't see how Dolores can be Wyatt now in MiB's time because she was picking up cans and shit when he went off to find Wyatt, who has already built a cult army while Dolores is still on the farm. Think MiB's Wyatt he's looking for is an actual new host created for that role. Snake tattoo chick seems to have seen him too / is at least programmed to say she did.
Speaking of tattoo face... did anyone else notice that she was the host that couldn't stay put while learning to dance? She was the one the trainer chick kept having to put back in place.
Just caught up with all the episodes. Damn what a show, I have a lot of questions and theories but as someone else said I bet they all have been asked and talked about in 41 pages
Oh man. So, that church scene. I'm not going to pretend like I fully understand, but there is one flashback where she's wearing the riding pants and one where she is in the blue dress, and then in the present she's in the riding pants? Or does this mean that there are 2 timelines, blue dress and riding pants. She said William and MiB walked in. But does that mean MiB = William or does that mean those 3 are on the same timeline???
ford again this show so dolores killed arnold arnold = bernard confirmed stubbs and elsie ??? mib looks to be william mib company same as hale so much to digest
MiB is just on the board of directors, is the way I understood it. I assume that's board of the park, not Delos, but I'm not entirely clear on the ownership dynamic.
I think this confirms 3 timelines. William is MiB. I assume Dolores became sentient and killed Arnold in retaliation. I can't wait to see how old Will and Dolores interact, she didn't look happy to see him in the preview.
Well yeah. He drug her by her hair in episode 1. Possibly raped her I'm still not sold on William being the MIB. Probably though.
So good. So much to digest, but most of the theories seem to be spot on including all of the evidence.
Dont tag me in shit you stupid motherfucker Literally ruined the episode and now i have no reason to watch. Fuck. You.
So ford isnt a great coder and accidentially set (some) of the shit in motion re reveries? And everything else is a convergence of maeve and others gettin smart via bootstrapping of consciousness?
You couldnt wait one fucking hour. Not to mention the fact that for weeks ive been saying i dont know who anyone is. But sure, it seems my theory from four episodes in is inaccurate, so ruin the episode for me. Cool guy you are.
