I see that Hurricane Otto will be dragging its nuts directly over Guanacaste on Thursday night/Friday morn. We don't arrive until Monday; concerned about flooding and mudslide tho.
Anybody looking for an easy Southwest Companion Pass. I have referrals for Chase SW Premier (50k) and Chase SW Plus (50k)?
Purchased tickets for a May trip to Europe a month ago via Delta. Safe to say, I paid more than what I could have today. Called Delta and "changed" my flight for a 300$ fee and was able to take the difference in the form of a credit to my next flight. Wasn't the best solution in the world, but at least I have $150 toward my next flight.
I got overcharged on insurance by Fox rentacar a couple years back out of SFO. I was 100% sure I hadn't requested the insurance charges, but they refuse to credit. So I complained to Amex and they got it waived. Perhaps you contact Sapphire Reserve to dispute the charges?
I have the primary liability insurance through the Sapphire Reserve so worst case it'll just go through them. It's just a headache I'd rather not deal with. I've found Avis doesn't take great care of their fleet (I obviously didn't have to document any damage before taking the vehicle here) so hopefully this will just pass without incident.
So I'm drunk and figuring out details of my Asian trip. Trying to determine what to do from around March 26/27/28 until April 3/4/5 when I arrive in Ho Chi Minh. Chose one: (A) (current leader in the clubhouse) Go from Kathmandu to Cherrapunji, hike to the village with the root bridges, then Singapore for 2-3 days: Spoiler Really, really remote, have to hike a few hours to get there, but supposed to be incredible. (B) Kathmandu to Singapore, then head to Phnom Penh, Cambodia and to Koh Rong (big hippie/backpacker party island) (C) Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur, then to Singapore, then on to Ho Chi Minh
Most likely. As with all those twitter and other airfare deals, the low prices last for about 48 hours, if that long.
My mom is supposed to go to Israel with some all ladies travel group next year. When I told her about those Spain flights she started rethinking that and instead was talking about paying for the family's flights to Spain and we'd just get our own hotels (my ass would stay in a hostel) because she has enough Marriott points to book a nice hotel for her and my dad. It wouldn't have to be Spain but anywhere like that I may be able to talk her into it.
Think it would be in the last spring, early summer time frame. That's generally when she takes vacation so I'm guessing that's when she was going to Israel.
Just booked a flight to New Zealand from Feb 13th- March 1st, with a 2 day stop in Fiji on our way there. Pretty excited.
My family wouldn't be down for Eastern Europe most likely. They'd want something more like Spain, Italy, Germany, the UK....
most of the deals have been from major airports, though there was that really short run to a lot of european cities from a bunch of random ass airports. is there somewhere/multiple somewheres specific yall are trying to fly out of
Walk me through this like I'm the idiot I am. I didn't think those points went to qualification anymore.
Nashville would be easiest. Could do Atlanta as well. My dad is apparently all about going to Scotland, Ireland, Germany or Austria lol.
Need 110k points in a calendar year to get companion pass Each credit card has 50k bonus after 3k in spending. So you have 106k worth of points. 4k more in spending/travel/shopping bonuses gets you a companion pass for the rest of the year plus the entire following year. Sign up in December/January, but wait until January to start spending so all points post in 2017.
I'm just not seeing those bonus points amounts reading about the cards, is that part of the referral?
Yeah I think the standard offer is 40k. Existing cardholders get higher referral amounts from time to time
Send me the details but I still believe southwest stopped awarding qualifying points beyond like 10k for credit card points on A List and Companion.
I don't know how they handle the bonuses. But, you can certainly get the companion pass strictly on your credit card points. You can get it without taking a single flight if you put $110k on the card in a year. This may not be what your talking about though. A-List is different I am almost certain. My mom has had the companion pass for as long as I can remember, but rarely has gotten A-list
That would have to have been a very recent change. Can't find any articles mentioning it. I'll email you the referrals. Should take a couple of days to arrive, if it takes as long as it used to
i just did a couple quick searches out of nyc for april 22 to 29. 389 to london, 400 to copenhagen, 494 to madrid, 516 to barca. its 175-211 to get to nyc from nashville and atlanta. those are pretty cheap totals, might see barca and madrid get 100 dollars cheaper or so. could probably find a deal on an atl or nashville to nyc that drops it 75 bucks at some point, though im sure theyll go quick. that's saturday to saturday travel, can do better to some places if yalls schedules allow for mid week departures/arrivals
Yea we can take off and return anytime during the week. Mom wants a day travel in, 5 days there then 1 day travel home.
we really relaxed, since it was honeymoon. It's definitely a more low key place, has excursions but a lot less guests since it is so small. it's right next door to a regular sandals resort, that you can venture over to if you want more interaction, restaurants and such, but they can't come to RP. You have a different wristband with a guard on the beach separating the two. Also have shuttles that can take you to any of the other Sandals resorts if you so please, we only did once or twice to try different restaurants, but were sad each time as none were near as amazing as RP's, which only has one nice restaurant upstairs, and a more casual downstairs. Also have a little lunch place down on the beach that can make drinks and provides delicious food. http://www.sandals.com/main/plantation/rp-home/ https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_R...ation-Ocho_Rios_Saint_Ann_Parish_Jamaica.html As you can see from the pictures, it's a more standard pool/hot tub, so your time will be spent on the small beaches relaxing, but have first class service, with your butler assigned to you, and you get a cell phone on check in with his number, so if you ever need anything, just dial him up and ask for it. Very personalized service. They have a lot of standard activities, golf, scuba, excursions, but we didn't do any of those. We did do the candelight dinner on the pier, with a specialized lobster menu and it was awesome. Got massages, I used the workout room, and they have a cozy bar in the main area called the Wobby Peacock. They usually have small acts come in there for some song/dance, so we would meet couples and hang out in there. That should cover what we did: we were there for 5 nights, which was good, cause we flew down monday and stayed to saturday. It's definitely more expensive, as you pay for what you get compared to other Sandals. Not other places will give you butler service and top-notch dining in Jamaica. Also, with SW now flying down there, you might have some cheaper flight options. Anything specific you have questions about?
Doing another Yacht Week the first week of January. This time in the British Virgin Islands. Any advice would be cool and stuff.
Before I go searching, does anyone know if we have write ups on Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bali, or Gili islands?
Hello All, I'm taking the girlfriend to Denver for her birthday.... I drunken let it slip out of my mouth one night by accident so she knows. Any advice???? We'll be staying at a hotel in downtown Denver.
Denver is great. Tons of stuff to do downtown and there's a free shuttle that runs up and down 16th street if it's cold. A ton of really good breweries in the area too, some downtown area and some a little further out but definitely worth the Uber ride. Crooked Stave, Epic, and Great Divide were probably my top 3. There's also a really cool eating area called Avanti that is away from downtown but has a bunch of options (think a food court with better than fast food) and it has an awesome patio that looks right at downtown
Appreciate it.... I've had a couple of people tell me I should look into AirBnB for the trip. What area would be ideal to stay in?
Yesterday I impulsively booked a trip to Amsterdam & London, traveling solo, because I needed to use my vacation time before year end and this seemed like a good idea. I've never been to Europe and have never traveled by myself before. My flight leaves NYC on Christmas Night- arrive in Amsterdam on Dec 26th. My flight home leaves London on January 2nd. So far the only part of my trip that is planned is my flights, so any recommendations or resources for things to do, eat/drink, cultural activities, where to stay...etc would be cool. I'm planning on keeping things very open and just going-with-the-flow and exploring. My early thought is 3-4 days in Amsterdam, train to Brussels for a day, then train to London and 3-4 days there to finish up my trip.
