Finally a trailer. Love everything Marling does and saw this on her IMDB and there were no details for so long. Looks really weird but I'm in.
Had heard about this show a while back and was excited but hadn't really heard anything of substance about it in months. Surprised they are just now announcing it four days before release. Was looking for a new show to start, reckon I'll make it this. Looks like it will be p weird so right up my ally.
I love Brit Marling so I've been all about this since they announced it. Seems like their plan was to keep this under wraps completely as they've said nothing officially about it since the original announcement. Only a handful of critics got it in advance and aren't allowed to publish reviews until it's been released.
Damn, completely forgot Man in the High Castle was coming back Friday too. Might need to take an extended weekend since I was going to try to check out Rogue One as well. I'm not even a Star Wars guy but this one has me kind of excited.
Anyone started watching this yet? Just finished first episode. Some seriously weird shit, have no idea what's going on.
Just watched the first episode. That took a weird turn 50 minutes into it when they showed the opening credits.
Seriously, never seen anything like that. Definitely one of the most unique episodes of a TV show I have ever seen.
Due to the weather the last two days, just finished. Probably the most of a show I've watched in a short setting but I did enjoy it. It ends way different than I expected. I give it a 7. I enjoyed the story and characters...I did not like the way the story ended at all.
Good show and very different than what you will normally find on Netflix, I think its worth the watch. I thought though they wasted a lot of intriguing plot angles though, felt like it could have been more sci-fi to spice things up.
That was not what I was expecting at all and it was a little too slow at times but overall I enjoyed it. This will be a fun show to talk about after I have some more time to process my thoughts on it. And fuck Sepinwall for mocking the ending and posting it in gif form without any context to discourage others from watching.
Started strong, ended weak. It pretty much lost me when Spoiler it became about the "movements." That was just retarded. Also there were a few small points that really bothered me. Like how exactly did she write those scars on her own back? BM should've put her efforts into finishing Sound of My Voice instead of this shit
Just finished. Spoiler like it was said above, there were some strange things that couldn't be explained. Like how do you write things on your own back. And it would seem easy to track down a place where a sheriff disappeared with his wife who had ALS. The ending pissed me off at first, but after thinking about it, maybe the FBI guy from the night of planted the books on the amazon box to make those guys think she made it up because they are working with Hap in some form. Overall it was good but the ending could have been a lot better.
Spoiler This was my thought as soon as I saw the FBI Agent in her house for no explicable reason. Also, if you take a look at the books, they are all brand new. When would she have had time to read all those books when she got back, and why do they look like they've never been touched? Also, she was definitely a precog, because she did, at least, see the future of the shooting in her dreams. Also, it was never explained how she got her sight back if it wasn't how she described. With that said, I really hated how they incorporated the movements into the endgame of the plot.
Watched it this morning. I love her stuff. I have an overall favorable impression of this show. Spoiler: le spoiler I wanted a better payoff for those ridiculous movements. I was uncomfortable watching it, so I expected more. I wanted lasers shooting out of peoples orifices and shit and dimensions crashing into shit...worlds colliding in a michael bay way. They did have a pretty bad ass dungeon. Where the hell are the others? Is there going to be another season? wtf?
Spoiler I feel like this show is one big long con troll to the viewers. Those movements were so fucking stupid, and all they did in the end was distract the shooter long enough just to be tackled by some dude right before shoots - so it's errant and hits OA. Fucking dumb. There were no magical powers, just dumb. Hated the ending, but really did enjoy the ride to get there. Dont feel like I wasted my time watching the show, but probably wont stick with a second season if there is one. There's a cool premise in this show somewhere.
Spoiler Almost wrote the exact same thing but ended up deleting it. The movements were unnecessary. They could have rapped some eminem and have the same result. What led me to deleting that response is that it's only one possible ending. The unlikely and sci-fi ending is still a possibility. She could have bought those books to look up stuff she had gone through to see if anyone else had as well. We have an unreliable narrator, or do we? The shift in dimensions was just as she had said, And, importantly, she did get her sight back. Would also havce to be one hell of a coincidence that she went to the school. could be a metaphor for abusive relationships
I think we find out next season. Spoiler http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/oa-creators-defend-movements-959026 https://www.bustle.com/p/these-theo...ill-keep-you-speculating-until-season-2-26507
Spoiler Of course, I like the #4 theory probably because it's more sci-for and at least explains some of what we saw
I enjoyed it for the most part but the ending was incredibly annoying. Would have loved the ending if they just got up and attacked the shooter and took him down, the gay ass routine just didn't make sense after finding the books. Not sure what the shooter was doing either, he was firing at will outside then gets inside and stops. Chasing the ambulance and saying he wanted to be an angel was pretty awful too.
I just binged this today. Movements aside I really liked it. It reminded me of The book I am the cheese, which I read as a kid. It also reminded me of A Prayer for Owen Meany.
For the life of me I can’t recall this show. I remember the last episode of season 1 and that’s it. I need to watch it from scratch. This is the problem with binge watches.
No, you don’t. Watch last episode of Part 1 and you’ll be good. Part 2 introduces new characters anyway.
Too late. I binge watched the entire season 1 yesterday afternoon through last night. I really did forget almost everything, including the modern dance.
Just watched episode 1 of season 2. Very glad I watched the entire first season last night. I really like the vibe of the new season and where it is going. Feels a bit like Lost.
Just read a bunch about Brit Marling and her co-creator Zal Batmanglij. Pretty cool fucking story. She was valedictorian at Georgetown in Economics. She met him there and they have been working together ever since. His brother is Rostam from Vampire Weekend. I’m so jealous of super talented people.
Just finished. That ending. Enjoyable show, but why did she have to go all Stephen King on us? Hopefully it works. They are good storytellers even if this is some very weird crap.
