Other than the lack of sunlight (set at 3:30 yesterday, 7 AM now and completely dark outside), Copenhagen is awesome. Did a brewery tour with my friend that lives here yesterday, about to go do the tourist stuff today. Not even terribly cold. The city is incredibly clean and just 'nice.' I think it will be quite the contrast compared to Berlin.
Worst part of SEA is the fucking scams. It's so annoying being nickel and dimed (literally) by "touts"
Probably should've been clearer, I meant a contrast in the sense that CPH is lily-white Scandinavian and everyone is overly friendly and the city is just generally calm, whereas Berlin is in your face and has a very distinct edginess from what I've gathered.
A 7 hour/$15 trip to Cambodia is going to be 12 hours so they can milk am extra $20 from me Shoot I'd pay $50 up front if you just fucking go
Ko Chang to Siem Reap Even with the scams it's the same time as a flight and still $150 cheaper but I'm dying here with all the BS
Anyone have any recs for one night in Dublin? I've been before and did the whole Guinness, Trinity College, and temple bar scene. Was wondering if there are any other cool neighborhoods/bar areas. We'll only be there one night and fly out at 10am the next morning. Also any recommendations for Cork? I'll probably be there or close by for 2 days before heading to Dublin. Any advise on the rail from Cork to Dublin would be great too.
I didn't really feel that way in Berlin at all. It's a brand new modern city that doesn't have much of anything built before the 40s.
What brewery did you go to? When I studied abroad there we used to go to Carlsberg almost every friday because you could get two beers for 20 kroner.
Longhaul transatlantic flights on Delta still serve free booze in standard economy, right? I thought this was the case but my friend just books JFK> BCN and doesn't think this is the case anymore...
It says they do on their website. I actually just read through their fare comparisons because I'm flying to London on Delta and it says alcohol is complimentary on those flights in main cabin
It seemed like he really wanted like a sequoia sized suv... It didn't even make any sense. His wife after like 25-30 minutes came inside and pulled him out and told the people it'd be fine
This whole time of planning our trip to Europe I had just been assuming the major airlines were all travel partners with Chase so I could transfer Ultimate Rewards points to those accounts for the ticket. Found a flight we liked best on Delta and apparently they're not a travel partner fortunately we do have some fall back options on United which is definitely a travel partner and gf has a United credit card, but that Delta flight was much better as far as timing goes
#Florida Gators #Florida State Seminoles Flying into Tampa tonight then Sarasota for New Years. Any recommendations on what to do or not to do?
Berns Steakhouse if you can. You can always have dinner in the bar if you can't get a last second reservation. Everything is great from the food to the drinks to the dessert room.
The Florida Gators will be playing the Iowa Hawkeyes in what is sure to be four quarters of entertaining college football. I highly recommend avoiding that. Also, just for the extra tag Hank Scorpio
I should have been clearer, sorry. I just looked up Berns which is in Tampa. I'm flying into Tampa to later get a rental and drive to Sarasota tonight. Any suggestions in Sarasota or anywhere close near by? I think Tampa is 40 minutes away.
I've been to Tampa and Sarasota, there are some nice things in each place. Spoiler Obligatory response to being summoned... feel like this team tagging phenomenon in some instances is like a seance where you can only use the dead person's first name. You get a whole lot of dead Charlies that probably aren't pertinent to your concerns. I won't poltergeist you or anything though
We are going inland and offshore fishing. The weather seems to be legit and I'm excited about the possibility to catch a tarpon. Fishing in Louisiana is great, but I'm excited to sight cast in clear water rather than poo poo/oil water.
Actually, I don't feel bad tagging FSU fans after Cam Akers and the 32 points for the win in the second half to start the season.
Main st in downtown or St Armands circle at night for dinner. Siesta Key Beach during the day, go to the village for lunch and/or additional day drinking.
Restaurants: Selva, Shore, Social, Nancy's BBQ, Pacific Rim, Antoines seafood, Old Salty Dog, Euphemia Haye. Bars: Clasico, Smokin' Joes ...Main street area. Beach Bars are Daiquiri Deck area. Ringling Museum http://www.kayakfl.com/Lido_Key_Kayak_Tour.html
Depends on where in Sarasota you are and whether you want cheap eats, moderate or expensive ones. My buddies own a brewery in town called calusa brewing, which makes the best beers in the city. Other breweries are jdubs and big top, but jdubs is the only other one worth visiting. On siesta key, there is a newer restaurant called cevichela which makes great tacos, ceviche and other good items. There are a few bars nearby which can be pretty fun. Other restaurants I'd recommend are Libby's, shore diner, state street diner (great cocktails) and owen's fish camp. Owen's has a great atmosphere and good food, but they don't take reservations and the lines can be long. For a more expensive dinner, indigenous, ophelia's on the bay and selva make great food. Old salty dog sucks for food, but is on the water.
We were mostly in the Norrebro area where Im staying. Mikkeler & Friends was my favorite, also went to Brus and some others that I can't think of right now. Went out in the meat packing district tonight, after doing all the tourist stuff today---Nyshavn, little mermaid, roundhouse, Tivoli, Christiana. The bike scene here is amazing, so easy to get around the entire city. Flight to Berlin tomorrow AM
Yea but you're old and married and boring. I'm young and vibrant and exude youthful exuberance. But seriously, I was primarily just speaking second-hand from ppl I've talked to so far re: partying. I intend on getting as weird into the EDM as I can, which I understand is on a whole different level in Berlin. Got 5 days and 4 nights to make it happen starting tomorrow. I'm sure I'll keep everyone updated on my failed sexual conquests.
Duval got most of the good ones. 7venth sun is in Dunedin so if you go there I'd walk to Dunedin brewery as well. Good beer and good food too, he wings are great. De bine brewing opened down the street but haven't been there yet. Coppertail is good and over in Tampa so you could hit them, Angry Chair and Cigar City easily. Rapp is near my house and on the way to St Pete. Green Bench and Cyclr are in downtown St Pete. 3 Daughters beer is just ok but they have a lot of games you can play like ping pong and darts so that's fun.
I can only speak for st. Pete and I can say don't drive drunk between the two FYI. Three daughters Green bench Pinellas ale St. Brewing Cage. Bar/restaurant scene is better than brewery scene IMO.
