no its not better and rowe is absolutely in over his head. but what do you want them to do at this point?
Yeah I know...and he might work. Who knows, stranger things and such I am just frustrated for you guys. This Florida lineup is pretty good but young, shit will happen but if this clown makes stupid moves I will be mad.
the young guys outside of barkov and trocheck haven't been great, but its the old guys letting the team down. Jagr has been below average at best and jokinen has arguably been one of the worst players in the NHL. but yeah, Sub-Zero and I are really frustrated.
It's just normal, last year was the anomaly. If they can somehow not panick and draft well next year this team is going to be solid...but you can't expect it to just work after one good year. I would kill for a core like what the panthers have, very exciting young team.
the jagr regression was expected. Jokinen going from legit top 6 player to worthless overnight was not.
Just ask me next time, jokinen is not reliable at all. Ekblad is the disapointement for me but not very worried about him
Ekblad is tasked with doing too much. I think there's some overload there but he will rebound. The team has drafted like dogshit after the first round though. Trocheck is the only hit and NHL player in a later round. This team has core talent but garbage depth.
Yup. Which is why I always laugh at the people who shit on the team for firing Scott Luce. The guy was garbage at drafting.
Still having Crouse would have been nice but i understand and agree with dumping Bolland and getting some flexibility back. But jesus we need bottom 6 depth and bottom D pairings from the draft and nothing to really show for it. We still have Kindl out there for christ sake.
You right. The good thing is that they have drafted really well the last couple years. There is a lot to like about the prospect pool. It's just not ready yet.
yup. he has done an amazing job of staying near the top of his game late in his career. He's gonna drag this team to contending for the playoffs if he has to
im a bit torn on the Jagr hit as it didnt look hard (granted it should still be called most of the time) but the stick holding/throwing was pretty blatant.
severity of the hit is irrelevant. can't cross check someone in the back. but yeah, the fact he was able to grab and throw ekblad's stick without getting called is hilarious. Not only was that holding the stick, but it was a delay of game because he threw it away.
First time Huberdeau has been said to be in March and not February. What the hell happened to Barkov?
shot hit him in the ribs underneath his padding. im guessing they broke. he has the worst luck with injuries
Watching tavares just again reminds us that the Panthers haven't had a reliable goal scorer since Bure. Someone who if they get into a good scoring position can just bury it. So many point blank chances tonight but just no scorers. Guys like tavares make it obvious.
So true. Guys like that are so hard to acquire though. They just don't come available very often. Mascherin in the CHL has a shot to be that guy though.
Not bure like but some guys off the top of my head, Pacioretty and Hoffman are guys that you just don't see during a game but they pop one in every other game. Especially Pacioretty, Hoffman is not there yet but these guys drive me crazy. Average at everything but that wrister is money. And yes they are hard to come by. I have watched Pacioretty play for his entire career and it boggles my mind that he is always a 30-40 goals a year player. Just incredible, he is good but that is top 5 goal scorer production in the NHL for the last 5-10 years. He is not that good...or maybe I underestimate him.
Oh I know not everyone team can have a stamkos. It's just going to feel like it holds the team back until someone can be somewhat consistent. Doesn't have to be a 50 goal guy. Just a guy who is just a great shooter even if he has other holes. Someone guys like Barkov can set up to just shoot.
You guys also miss huberdeau, he is not a pure shooter but he makes other guys around him score goals
The huberdeau loss is massive. Yup. You need one guy who can score from anywhere on the ice for the nights where the offense isn't clicking and all of a sudden that player snipes a corner from a bad angle and helps you steal 1/2 points. Panthers don't have that guy and therefore need multiple guys playing well at the same time to win games.
There is a game that was right before the Christmas break back in 2012 where they lost 8-0 against the Bruins with a 75% AHL lineup that will always be the worst game I've ever seen them play, but this one is definitely on the top 5-10
It's amazing how much of an impact having a line that drives possession every shift can have on an entire team
that game was frustrating and amazing at the same time. Barkov and huberdeau are so good together. Just got to hope Luongo is ok
It's been weird but at the same time it made sense. Injuries weren't just an excuse for the bad play. It was the biggest reason with some other things like inconsistency and slumping play from veterans thrown in. Now that the 1st line is intact, everything is easier for the entire lineup.
So I know I should be happier but there is so many unsustainable or bad things right now that will surely lead to another round 1 exit... Power play. Any power play goal looks like an accident. Thank God our PK is so good to help balance it but we cannot be a dangerous playoff team with a power play that looks like it never practices. James Reimer is playing begins level amazing. Either he will regress or we will have a goalie controversy going into the playoffs. OR he somehow carries us all the way. But that's less likely. Slow starts. I feel like it takes us 10 minutes to get 3 shots on goal every game. Awful 2nd periods. Just so many awful ones that need vezina Reimer to keep us in. But hey. Goals are coming.
