Dont know if it was the layoff or jitters or what but coming out and starting like shit really fucked us.
Well I guess the bright spot is that unlike previous years, this is only the beginning. Our window is wide open. The rookies are awesome. We will add some pieces and be back next year. Great season despite this outcome.
Can't even be mad about that. Dak played far beyond his years. Jaylon comes on board next year and we've got a chance to improve the defense again if we keep drafting like we have been. Congrats to Packers
Expectations were far exceeded this year. Improve the D next year and we'll be right back in the same position. This team should be a playoff team for many years to come.
Just need to keep the offensive line healthy and happy and we should be good on offense for the next 3-4 years. We need to add a few pieces on defense and we should be right back here. Really to get a good pash rusher. I know they are hard to come by but I would like to see us go mostly defense in this draft and start to look for a TE to replace Witten. Proud they fought back when they could have gave up when down big in the first half. Just can't let Rogers run around for 6-7 seconds cause he always makes a play. I thought they needed to send some pressure forcing Rogers to throw short and avoid the big play. Oh well going into this year I figured we would have gone 9-7 and just missed the playoffs.
Man fuck this. There's no moral victory for this season. Im 100% convinced this team was a super bowl contender. Fucking miserable way to lose. I fucking hate rodgers. He's a fucking jedi though. Unreal qb.
Dak played with huge nuts tonight man. 4th round rookies aren't supposed to duel it out with Aaron Rodgers playing the best football of his career like that.
He has done it all year. Im over the rookie stuff. I mean of course Im really excited for the future and Im pumped we lucked out like this, but he was ready and his play today proved it. This loss hurts bad.
Not having a good DE really fucked us Fucking Jeff Heath and Orlando Scandrick had the only 2 sacks of the game (I think?) We HAVE to find a difference maker that can get to the QB. I know Lawrence missed 7 games but he still only had ONE sack. He is at best a rotational guy on a super bowl caliber DL. I would also put Crawford in that category, and those are two guys we rely on a lot. Where was David Irving? No wonder he doesn't play more than 50% of the snaps. At least Collins looks like he may have something If we spent 2 of our first 3 picks on DEs I would not be upset at all
Also, that spike was fucking bullshit. That was bush league clock management. I don't know whose decision that was but that ultimately falls on Garrett. So does the first half of that game. We looked terribly unprepared and out of synch
Man today feels just like the day after 2014 vs GB. Worst day of the year. Fuck that spike. Fuck that drive killing penalty on Butler that hasnt been called since the 80s. Fuck that PI call on a ball 20 yards past the receiver. Fuck Aaron Rodgers. Fuck Doug Free.
Great game yesterday boys. Dak and Zeke are going to be damn good in this league, Dak's poise after that pick is beyond his years. NFC would like you guys not to draft defense please, scary once you do.
there's a story about the cowboys in this week's sports illustrated. jerry wanted to draft manziel badly, but he was the only one in the room who felt that way. then he basically called his son a pussy for wanting to draft zack martin
Today fucking sucks. There is no moral victory. We need a fucking stud pass rusher in the worst way, but we win if we don't come out flat in the first quarter. That's on the staff.
from the story http://www.si.com/nfl/2017/01/12/dallas-cowboys-stephen-jerry-jones “So there we were, staring at Johnny and Zack Martin,” Stephen says. Jerry went around the table trying to wrangle support for Manziel, but he came up empty. “Lonely is the right word,” Jerry says. “I don’t think there was another soul in the room” who shared the owner’s enthusiasm for Johnny Football. Instead, Jerry suggested his team trade out of the pick. “But no one was calling to trade,” explains Stephen. By this time the boss “was not happy,” says the son. Exasperated, Jerry finally asked, “So no one in this room wants to take Johnny Manziel?” “There wasn’t a peep,” says Stephen, who told his old man, “Dad, we need to take Zack.” “All right,” came the reply. “Turn it in.” Jerry turned to Stephen, having discerned in the drama a teaching moment. “Son, I hope you’re happy,” Jerry said. “But let me tell you something: You don’t get to own the Cowboys, you don’t get to do special things in life, by making major decisions going right down the middle. And that“—taking an offensive lineman over Johnny Football—“was right down the middle.”
Not long ago Jerry would have taken Manziel and not given a purple fuck what anyone in the room thought before or after. He's also not walking around on the sideline anymore in the 4th quarter making a nuisance of himself. Somebody talked some sense into him a few years ago about listening to his football people and it is just now starting to pay dividends. Very, very reminiscent of the early 90's NY Yankees and George Steinbrenner. We just saw the '95 Yankees lose to the Mariners. What happens over the next several years is what we've been waiting for.
Dallas needs to go ahead and fire Garrett. Put a quality coach on the sidelines and they probably win. Dallas had the window with Romo, it didn't happen, now they have a fresh window and if they keep Garrett will probably piss it away again.
Yea I don't think Garrett is the guy. I don't think he's a bad coach, I just think he's an average coach. No clue who I would get to replace him.
I think Garrett is trash, but he's a spineless yes man for Jerry so he'll be around for a while. Just googled him, it's mind boggling that a guy with 6 years of coaching experience was handed the keys to the Cowboys and has held onto it for 7+ seasons. Wish he'd have gotten the ax after 2015, but ya, I don't know who I replace him with that'd be willing to come. Edit: And barring a dead girl/live boy or sub-500 situation he's bought himself the next two years at least after this season. So thinking about this is pointless.
What? Garrett was a COY candidate. The leader of this charge is Shu so that should be a hint to all of you onboard the Fire Garrett Train that its collective IQ couldn't balance a scale with Cole Beasley on it.
Its a testament to how short people's memories are that Garrett is defined by his team coming out flat after 2 weeks off and a questionable spike on the last drive instead of a season's worth of great coaching. The players bought into his message and he took a rookie 3rd string QB and came within inches of making the conference championship game. In my opinion, this is 1991 all over again. Team came together, went to the divisional round and lost. The next season they added an elite pass rusher (Charles Haley) and they won a Super Bowl. If we lose Garrett, we probably lose Marinelli and that would, in my opinion, be disastrous
Dallas had 9 plays on 2nd/3rd down needing 1-4 yards for a 1st. Play selection: 1 Zeke run (gained first down), 8 Passes (4/8 with a pick)
Above my pay grade. Jon Gruden (probably wouldn't return, but I'd make him say no). Harbaugh probably wouldn't work well with JJ. Jason Garrett is an ok coach. Middle of the pack coach might take them to the SB eventually with all that talent.
consider me in camp meh on garrett smart guy, knows offenses, seems to connect with the players, has some good input on personnel. think that's about it though, we've seen his ceiling. hard to move on from the guy at this point but don't think he's on that elite tier that gets you the ring
