Obama was responding to specific verified concerns with the vetting of one category of immigrant (refugees) from one nation (Iraq). It is to his credit that his administration used what it learned in that review to apply to refugee processing from Syria (and other countries) which has resulted in zero terror attacks in the U.S. from Iraqi or Syrian refugees. Can you point us to the specific verified instances to which Trump's EO is responding - targeting all categories of immigrants from seven countries (none of which has been the home of immigrants who have committed terror attacks in the U.S.)?

I hate to do Todd's work for him, but this is a bit of strawman. Just because there has not been, doesn't mean there haven't been attempts (Obama had to deal with a handful) nor will be in the future. These countries are definitely home to radicalism. Just because we have been more or less successful in the past at keeping that off our shores doesn't necessarily mean that the U.S. government shouldn't take precautionary measures or act on confidential intelligence that we can't see. All western countries are highly alert to this danger, and the U.S. should be no different. That being said, the specific order itself, its methodology, over-inclusivity, and problematic protections of "christians" are all very alarming and an incorrect way to effectuate the goal
