I don't really watch a lot of comic book stuff but been planning on watching this just because Noah Hawley (Fargo showrunner) is doing it.
I'm a big Noah Hawley guy but that was the most convoluted, self-indulgent 90 minutes of television I have ever seen. Will give it one more week, but maybe this series is not for me.
Didn't love it but I'll see where it goes. Don't remember too much of the source material but doesn't seem to be very faithful at all either.
I felt it was a bit self indulgent, and didnt really need to be 90 minutes. It was crazy as hell, but I was able to follow it. So does this take place in the Xmen universe? And if so where are they?
That all happened in the past. They didnt show how or why the switched back, but it was understood they did.
you could see him realizing he was himself again when he was sitting at an outdoor table having a coffee.
i liked it a lot. i was vaguely familiar with who he was going in, i don't know how far they will go with who he actually is though. i like the color palette a lot too, reminds me of utopia
I took it as there never was a "switch" I think when they kissed he absorbed her psyche and was walking around thinking he was her until that moment he was eating and realized he was actually himself.
Enjoying it a lot so far. So is the main girl basically the same as Rogue from X-Men? I'm not really a comic fan and can't remember.
Hoping everything comes together. This seems like it's going to either be incredible or disappointing. So I was way off about the body switching/whatever occurred and have no clue what went down. I don't really think there's much about the comic characters origin story and the shows that will be similar. The shows doing its own thing which is cool. No clue what's going on with the gf for sure. I'm starting to wonder if Aubrey Plaza is an actual person or just a persona he's creating (like before she was smashed in that wall).
Depending on how close to the comics they go with his power level, Plaza's character could definitely be a person he created. In the comics, he is powerful enough to literally warp reality.
Plaza's character is definitely someone he has made up That's about the only conclusion I've come to thus far
So, the evil fat thing Im sure is their interpretation of the source materials Karami. Soooo interested to see how they fit him, the step dad, the angriest boy book and the perm/eye guy together. Also, what year is it? The style/clothing/appliances makes me think 70s ish but the mental hospital in Ep 1 had giant flat screen TVs in it.
Fair enough. Is this supposed to exist in the same universe as the X-Men movies? If so, this would be set just after DFOP? Currently on Chapter 3. So is this institute more in line with Magneto's view of mutant superiority?
I found an interview from the creator who says it is set in the X-Men universe, but really distant from what goes on there. http://www.mtv.com/news/2941311/legion-fx-connects-x-men-cinematic-universe/ Spoilers in the link. Spoiler He did reference that the opening scene provides a pretty big hint to who Legion's father is. Which is in line with the comic book origIns. Spoiler If you still don't know, it's Charles Xavier which was referenced by him being in the wheelchair.
Interesting. Could've sworn I read an interview from Hawley where he said Legion was completely disconnected from the X movies.
Maybe he changed his mind after that interview. Spoiler Given the supposed timeline, the connection to Charles Xavier makes sense as he was suppressing his powers at the time period just before DFOP and thus wouldn't have known the hell his son was going through.
Sepinwall said this week's episode is the strangest episode of TV he's seen that wasn't made by David Lynch.
I could follow most of what was happening. However I can see how it's close to getting too, well, strange. I know it's confusing and trippy by design but hopefully they reel it back in somewhat. I really want this to be a good show.
He wasn't lying. I have so many questions - Mostly who exactly are the bad guys, but Im just going to try to enjoy this crazy ride.
So Jermaine Clement starts the episode saying you're about to watch a story driven by empathy and fear, then the episode starts. I would assume Aubrey Plaza, is she Lenny? Would be the empathy factor that drives him and the "monster" who I've named Karami would be fear....BUT Lenny for sure wanted him to fuck everyone up and in the end she had the "monsters" hand when she held him right? So maybe I'm missing the connection. I do feel layers are starting to be peeled away. We know what we suspected and that Lenny isn't/wasn't real. Clement confirmed that he has no idea about the "monster". I really hope things continue to unravel a little bit at a time.
Spoiler they haven't said it yet but, but i saw an interview with aubrey plaza on conan or something and conan straight up said "so the lead character is professor Xs son." i have a feeling it won't really come up this season
