It looks like we got the first real news today on a probable 2017 release. From Activision's Earnings call report: http://kotaku.com/destiny-2-is-still-coming-this-year-activision-says-1792191111 Spoiler There’s no game I get more questions about than Destiny 2, so here’s a little tidbit for those of you who are desperate for news on Bungie’s next big game: It’s still on track for 2017. Said Activision in a slideshow attached to their earnings call today: “Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise’s global reach, which along with follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth.” In human-speak, that means it’s still planned for this year. Although some of the folks behind Destiny 2 might crave more time to add content and beef up the game, here’s an interesting bit of news to consider: If Bungie misses this year for Destiny 2, Activision is awarded a hefty chunk of the independent studio’s stock, according to two sources familiar with goings-on at Bungie. Bungie employees’ stock vesting schedule is also based on game releases, including Destiny 2, which gives them major incentives to get the sequel out this year. Fans had been worried—mostly thanks to the lack of news—that Destiny 2 might be delayed out of this year, but consider this: with the first Destiny, Bungie started talking too early and wound up showing a number of features and plot points that never actually made it into the final game. This time, they want to avoid those mistakes, which means we likely won’t hear about the game until closer to launch. The roadmap will likely include a Destiny 1 spring update, then a Destiny 2 reveal with a launch this fall. They’ve got a lot of people on this one: From what I hear, at least three other Activision studios are working on the game in addition to Bungie. Destiny 2 is also coming to PC, and will likely be a total overhaul, so don’t expect to bring your Destiny 1 gear with you. From the article: After the clusterfuck and disappointment of Vanilla Destiny, I hope they don't try to push out an unfinished, inferior product just to cash in again. Destiny turned into a very fun game, but long after many people stopped playing. Unfortunately history tells us something different in this industry (pump out the games, day one patches/hot fixes, pay for additional content that should have been included). Oh well, here's to hoping.
I will play the living shit out of this game. But, if the first dlc contains ANY rehashed content from vanilla I will promptly delete that mother fucker from my hard drive and be forever done with that franchise.
I'm quite alright with updated raids. I am not ok with 30 and 40 dollar add expansions consisting of existing content ran backwards.
I am like 99% they will not rehash any content. There should be a continuation of the storyline (as weak as it was), but I don't think there will be a continuation of whatever characters you've created. Which is fine with me. I was attached to my Warlock main like a year ago, but because he (she) shouldn't have anything to do with the continuation, I'm fine with letting all of them go.
I'm not talking from one to two. I'm talking from vanilla two into the first expansion. I hated the reuse of existing areas in the story add ones and strikes. Destinys big issues for me were content related and when new content leaned on old content it always rubbed me the wrong way
You're all a bunch of big whiny babies and I'll shoot you all in the face with my Destiny 2 Fatebringer while dancing on your ghost.
If the Destiny devs would learn to interact with the community as well as the Overwatch devs do I would be sooo happy.
i can't tell if this is supposed to be set shortly after D1 or if it's many years prior/later. At different times i've felt like they have hinted at each. I'm confused.
word is Bungie is officially announcing this today. this poster was leaked from some Italian retailer, confirming September release.
seems odd that they'd make it official now before ages of triumph started. not denying the leak, just typically they don't talk about "what's next" until after the current thing is done, though this is the last thing. still would think it would've started and worn out its hype before they announced. then again they don't have a long timeframe if true.
I don't think they're trying to sell a ton of copies of Destiny 1 with Ages of Triumph, they're more trying to get people back to Destiny before 2 releases. Reminding them that 2 is coming soon while there's some hype around new stuff in 1 ain't a bad idea.
so now maybe not officially announced today but "soon". The poster's real, though. September 8 is the date on that for the Europe release, which is a Friday. Probably more likely on Tuesday the 5th here.
yeah, they should almost be giving it away this summer to try to get people hooked in for 2. When 2 comes out, no one's paying for Destiny 1 anymore anyway.
i'm really hoping the pc version is good but i fear either A) it will become the only platform that matters, or B) it will be a bad port B seems most likely because activision and sony
Based off this week at bungie and deej tweets it sounds like they'll announce right after ages of triumph launches. My bets on next Thursday.
teaser: full trailer on the 30th. Looks like we're officially getting Cabal attacking the Tower/City.
I'd be on board for that if our characters linked up, but running two different multicharacter Destiny accounts would be too much for my little heart to handle. The lack of sleep would be truly staggering.
i just plan on doing one on pc. seems like there's too many opportunities with mods and such not to be a part of it.
my in person friends are all PC people, so i'll likely get on that. gonna see if you bone-diddlies are actually going to commit to this one for more than a week before i decide on ps4. Spoiler we all know i'm gonna end up on ps4 in the end no matter what.
sept 8. ps4, xbox one, pc may 18 for gameplay livestream 2 expansions announced for it too beta access if you preorder.
Like the Friday release. Take the day off and have a 72 hour sit in my own filth feeding my addiction fest 3 day weekend.
