I mean, they're building to Wrestemania. Not sure what what unpredictability you'd expect. Even despite it being a clear path, they're still building stories better than Raw. If you wan't unpredictable, WWE isn't usually the place for it.
I don't need to be shocked and surprised every week, but some suspense would help. part of a good story is the suspense.
Orton flat out refusing the wrestle Bray was a surprise. I still think there's a lot of story to tell regarding the main event of Wrestle Mania.
The problem with WWE is everything is leaked and a good bulk of the online community is more concerned with the booking vs the storytelling being done. If the Mania card wasn't leaked I don't think you look at the last couple of weeks and think what you do. But I do think they have done a solid job with 7 weeks to build to a PPV. Thats a long road to haul.
Yeah I think they have done a nice job with this program that has been ongoing for like 6 months now. Think about that for a minute... 1 year ago would you of thought Harper could be champion? How about 6 months, 3 months how about 1 month ago? Look how they built this dude since the brand split. Developing stars... Who wouldve thought thats possible. Speaks to the interest Bray has and the star power Randy has. Along with a good story being given ample time to be play out.
Speaking of building stars, look at Baron Corbin. Thought the guy was a dud and he's become a legit upper midcard guy who is probably due for an IC title run.
This is an amazing point... Vince is so afraid at this point to rock the boat on his flagship he refuses to let guys out a box. Punks spoke on this numerous times in the past. Hand chosen, bland characters.... sounds like pre Monday Night War WWF
To build on the Usos point, look at the gimmick they stuck Big E in to start his career. Silent body guard that doesn't talk, great fucking call. Guy is one of the best natural talkers in the company. They finally put Woods, Kofi, and E into a throw away gimmick and let them do what they want and they became magic. Makes me wonder how many other guys would flourish if creative just took their hands off of them.
The Anoaʻi family, originating from American Samoa, is a family of professional wrestlers. Family members have comprised several tag teams and stables within a variety of promotions. Famous members of the family include Rikishi, Yokozuna, Roman Reigns and The Usos. In addition, Reverend Amituana'i Anoa'i and Peter Maivia were "blood brothers",[1] a connection that continued with Afa and Sika, who regard Peter as their uncle. Peter married Ofelia "Lia" Fuataga, who already had a daughter named Feagaimaleata (Ata), whom he adopted and raised as his own. Ata married wrestler Rocky Johnson, and the couple became the parents of Dwayne Johnson, who wrestled under the names Rocky Maivia and The Rock, before establishing himself as an actor.
I think Roman is really, really talented. He needs some refining, but he's got a lot to work with. Vince just doesn't want to play to his strengths because he wants him to be the next Cena, and that's just not him. The booking has been better the last year, but his name is damaged goods, so it doesn't really matter. They're like trying to take Tom Brady and running the option, to engage in a little hyperbole.
Would the last 2.5 years or whatever have been better if Reigns was the one who broke up the Shield and went with HHH instead of Rollins? Would have created something completely different, but in hindsight that connection made so much more sense than Rollins, considering how they used both.
Side note but Bray in the main event is also awesome because he gets to have a night time entrance for an outdoor WM.
That guy has been the biggest surprise for me in how high I am on him. When he started by destroying cruiserweights I thought it was so dumb but it ended up being a perfect setup.
WM is shaping up to have a lot of good matches, but is still lacking that great, must see match/attraction. Was hoping they would have started something with Undertaker by now.
Honestly I think they fuck it up either way. It seems like Vince has a heavy involved with those guys. The thing that killed Roman more then anything was his promos. "Suffering Succotash" stopped him cold. And when they turned Rollins baby he came out with "sparkle croutch" Just terrible
Fantasy booking! (I hate myself for this) Leading up to the Styles vs Shane match that no one wants to see, AJ takes Shane out on the Smackdown go home show. Shane comes out at WM saying he's not cleared to compete, but that he found a replacement... Spoiler
That'd be awesome, but when was the last time someone debuted at WM? He has to be getting the call soon, right? I haven't seen anything definitive but he hasn't been on NXT recently has he? Since he lost the title? Idk, I've only caught two NXTs recently.
No one on a large scale that I can think of, but people have had their debut match at Wrestlemania (Sting, Fandango, Lana). Baron Corbin debuted last year unannounced and won the battle royal.
Probably one of the metrics Vince uses to justify Roman's push. And I'm sure he probably has more clips up than any other wrestler.
Did she have her when she was 8 years old? If it didn't have that caption I would have thought that was her brother and sister
I don't get why Buddy Murphy hasn't gotten more of a singles push in NXT. he can go in the ring. must be jealousy.
The color guy for the Bama basketball game just dropped ultimate warrior reference and the gave a Finn Balor medical/NXT appearance update.
speaking of Warrior, came across this the other night, and I feel like it's gotta be the most logical promo he ever put together
Main event isn't even KO. They are closing the show with Roman vs Braun.... fml But yeah I want to go for KO
During an appearance on Eric Bischoff’s podcast, Jake Roberts told a story about how Miss Elizabeth’s parents reacted to the angle where he slapped her at the 1991 Tuesday in Texas PPV: “The other bad time I had with Randy (Savage) is when they had me slap Elizabeth. You can imagine what that was like,” Roberts said. “That wasn’t even funny. That angle that we did with the snake bite and Elizabeth should have went on. We should have gone to WrestleMania with that, but we didn’t. I was like, ‘Why in the hell isn’t this being strung out?’ Bottom line was Elizabeth’s grandparents and parents weren’t smart, okay? Randy had promised them that Elizabeth would never, ever get physically involved or hurt during his wrestling career and yet she just got slapped. Randy and her went back to visit her grandparents and the old man pulled a gun on him and said, ‘Don’t you even think about coming in the house!'” He said that Elizabeth’s grandfather continued with, “‘Don’t come back! Don’t come back! Our little girl did get hurt! Be a man of your word!’ All of that stuff. Randy got kicked out and he had to make it up to them right away and that meant cleaning my clock.”
Saw today that I share a bday with Corey Graves and Nakamura. That's some cool shit I guess, two of my favs today.
Just looked up my birthday for shits and giggles, and it appears nobody shares the honor with me. I am, however, sandwiched between Carmella's and Bushwacker Butch's, so that's something, probably.
