They're tearing down the mall? For a Top Golf? Or Top Golf is part of the new development that will go there?
I don't think I've been into Madison Square Mall since Bridge Street opened - and MSM is like 1000 times closer to my inlaws place
I just assumed they would be cause where the hell else is this new development going to go? And what's left in that mall? Even Sears is leaving right? Sidenote, the updated Madison Square movie theater is pretty fucking sweet. I go there with my parents when I'm home and it's really nice.
Just seems like malls/shopping centers in general have a tough time now. Unless you need something that day, why wouldn't you buy it online? And hell if you live in certain areas you can get that shit from Amazon in hours.
They are completely redoing the MSM area. It looks promising. http://www.al.com/business/index.ssf/2016/08/midcity_sneak_peek_huntsville.html The rent at Bridge Street is outrageous. A lot of places have had a hard time staying there. Both of those companies decided to close for a while and are moving to the new MidCity development. Also, finally had the groundbreaking on the new development downtown yesterday. I don't care about wahlburgers but the rest sounds awesome. I'm watching them haul trailers in right now. http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/index.ssf/2017/01/wahlburgers_plans_restaurant_i.html http://www.al.com/business/index.ssf/2016/08/post_405.html
Phil Connors I was looking up scores from the regionals. Holy shit Petty would have never let HG play like they did in the first round. Letting the other team shoot 63% from the field including 81% (21-26) in the second half and they got out rebounded 40-18. I can't recall us ever getting dominated like that back then. Even against some teams that had way more height and shit they were always blocking out (and maybe slinging some elbows in the process) and playing hard ass defense. The girls on the other hand appear to be fucking rolling. 3 straight regional titles.
Would you folks vote for Tommy Battle if he ran for governor? Just curious the opinion of him in HSV.
My folks have lived in HG since we moved to Alabama so I'm not sure they have much of an opinion of Battle. Which way does he lean? That would probably determine their vote.
Tommy can do no wrong in Huntsville. He has done a tremendous job and is incredibly popular here. I would hate to lose him to the shit show in Montgomery. I've joked that I would vote against him so we can keep him here. He doesn't have to worry about getting votes from North Alabama if he decides to run, it's the rest of the state he needs to worry about. Not many governors have come from this part of the state and I imagine he has very little name recognition south of Birmingham. He has some family ties to some big names in Birmingham who I think would like to see him run. To answer your question seriously, I absolutely would vote for him and so would everyone I know. Out of curiosity, why do you ask?
I have just been thinking about our next governor for a while now and was considering unlikely but quality candidates. Admittedly what little I know about what Tommy Battle is that people in the area seem to really like him. He's also done things to bring jobs to Huntsville that our state could use. That said, I'm sure it won't ever happen. Just considering options.
Selfishly, I hope he doesn't run. But, I won't be the least bit surprised if he does. I know some were expecting an announcement after Luther got Sessions' spot.
I do some volunteer work for a non-profit that Mrs. Battle runs. Eula is a great lady & they do a lot for HSV
I am of the opinion that is you don't like my free food that I am fixing, you can fuck right off and go get something else.
She was in the Madison City system but she moved out of the classroom this year. She finished her masters and got a job as a counselor in the Madison County system.
Huntsville is such an interesting place when it comes to state politics. I wouldn't want Battle to run for governor because the state absolutely blows dick, and Huntsville is pretty much its own little federally funded bubble. As long as we have a great mayor like Battle in charge, we're kinda immune from the shit show down in Montgomery. I'm like Brandon Chicken in that I'd rather have Battle here than in Montgomery. If he goes anywhere, I'd want him to take that dumbass Mo Brooks' seat in DC.
Sadly, I'm kind of in this same camp. I have no faith that anyone can fix Montgomery so it almost seems like a waste to even have Battle try. That's sad.
Don't get me wrong, if I was a republican anywhere outside of Huntsville, then Battle would be a great option for governor. But in Huntsville, we'd rather not see him leave because he's way more valuable to us here than in Montgomery
Phil Connors are they not broadcasting the highschool tourney on tv this year? Or have you heard? Maybe a live stream on the net other than radio? My neice plays for hazel green and was trying to watch them today. Would've been down there but I've caught a bad cold.
