love his newest song Bruce Springsteen performs his new song Wrecking Ball at Giants Stadium (First time!)
-Jungleland -Thunder Road -Incident on 57th St -Lost in the Flood -For You -Racing in the Street -Brilliant Disguise -Backstreets -The River -Highway Patrolman -Youngstown (live in '99) -My City of Ruins -Kitty's Back -Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) -New York City Serenade -Atlantic City ... I can go on and on. It used to piss me off that people would just dismiss Bruce as "Oh, that dude who sings Born in the USA? How can you like that guy so much?" Now I just laugh. Such an amazing career and a song writer up there with anybody.
Brilliant Disguise is the correct answer. But so is The River. But also Backstreets. Or it could be Rosalita. Good chance it's Stolen Car. Also might be Darkness on the Edge of Town.
Not just his best song but the best song ever written. I've said it in other threads about GOAT songs; I'm not sure if I should envy you or pity you if you can't relate to Springsteen's Backstreets. Brilliant Disguise does contain his most profound lyric right at the end with "God have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of."
may not be a popular opinion but "Tunnel of Love" is my GOAT album of his. Saw him twice. He is the greatest performer. Fuck Prince.
As a purist who has seen Nils Lofgren crush that guitar solo and who doesn't like Morello's one trick pony guitar sound I DO understand why that performance is such a great one.
There's bands that tons of people love that I can't get into. You can't make yourself like something you don't like
"Singer songwriter" is not really a distinction I care about because most bands I'm into are collaborative efforts
Jungleland doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves. Probably because it’s almost ten minutes long (I’ve never heard it on the radio), but it’s a hell of a book end to one of the greatest albums of all time. When the organ kicks in on “from the churches to the jails,”
There are few “list your favorite” exercises more difficult than choosing one Springsteen song. Not my favorite, but I think an overlooked/overshadowed one is Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.
Fair enough...to each their own...I guess I’m asking about spoken word singers or something close to it.
Saw Springsteen on Broadway tonight. What an incredible experience. 9th Bruce show, totally worth it to travel cross country for this, I am awed.
Spoken like a Georgia fan, I bet you have a great collection of Lax Pennies, High Socks, and NBA jerseys
