Similar to gilstein21 I use a black and decker, cordless.

I have a number of their products all on 20V or 40V batteries. The power is more than sufficient for the average person. And the batteries are interchangeable between the different products.

Never have to worry about the device not starting, no more gas/oil mixtures. Just press a button and you're ready to go.

Maybe, but a lot of extension websites recommend you not bag. That's why I asked.

I'm also team black and decker battery. I've got 1.2 acres and the battery is always sufficient for my needs. Plus I don't have to deal with a shitty gasoline engine that's gonna break in a few years.

Never been in this thread but as someone who sold power equipment for a bit and uses power equipment I can give this advice

Never buy any of the gas powered brands that are store specific

    Troy bilt, Echo, etc

    Carry on, fgts

My dad wanted th b&d weedeater for Christmas a few years ago. I berated him for it. I was all gas, binford 4000, but I got it for him. About the same time my hedge trimmer died so I got the b&d 20 volt and it was great. Then I added the jig saw, circular saw, and my dad bought the blower. All were great. I take care of my inlaws too so I put my gas husqvarna stuff there and went b&d here. Dad said weedeater would edge good enough but I was hesitant. Bought it then he bought me blower (talked Home Depot into 2 free batteries bc display) and it's b en much easier and powerful enough here. I will say the trimmer line that comes with it is garbage compared to other lines you can buy and put on, and dad got a steal for $25 blower and two batteries

Hi have this grass in my new Orlando yards. What it is (st Augustine?) And how do I make it not die like the fescue I murdered in Georgia?

You shove it into the ground and pull up. Like a mini shovel. And it grabs the roots as it comes up

I disagree on echo. I'd say Troy built, ryobi, and probably a few more, but as someone that own Husqvarna, Stihl, and Echo equipment, the Echo stuff is every bit as good as the other two. My neighbor owns a landscape and tree service company and he has twelve blowers. His small ones are all stihl, but he has four of the big Echo's and says they're fantastic. He's been running two of them for like seven seasons now.

Can I just throw seed down and water the hell out of it?

Has anyone put astroturf down in their back yard?

    JFC, Swim. Read.

His entire lawn is St. Augustine. He's not trying to get rid of spots or runners. He's asking what he needs to do to take care of his St. Augustine lawn.

It's really just making sure it gets enough water, occasionally fertilize, and check periodically for weeds and chinch bugs. St. Augustine, in my experience, is really fucking hard to kill.

St. Augustine doesn't have seed, so if you're looking to start that you'll need sod or plugs or some runners from another area.

Put out a weed and feed yesterday, said to water in 1-2 days later. Can I cut it before/after I water or is that going to mess it up?

I got some spray as well, Roundup something or another that's safe on grass. If I did weed n feed yesterday, should I spray that also? My plan was to wait a week or two and if the weeds didn't die down then come back with that stuff

Yeah, the weed and feed probably just has pre emergent in it. That will only help prevent germination of summer weeds that are already trying to spread their wings. Pre emergent prevents germination of next season's weeds and spray kills the ones already growing.

So when folks are bagging leaves using those brown paper bags, is there like a stand or something with wheels to help getting them all moved around that people use? Probably the epitome of laziness, but sometimes I'm not just doing it with leaves and there's a bunch of dirt, so they can get heavy enough that they're awkward to carry.

What kind of fescue am I likely to have in South Carolina and can someone offer me help on taking care of it? Admittedly I'm clueless on lawn care. We just moved to this house recently and have two kids that are 18 months old and 10 weeks old. It goes without saying, I haven't had time to do shit outside for a while. We have a decent sized front and back yard fwiw. The house has an irrigation system . I'm just clueless on lawn care and need help. I'm gonna read through these pages but appreciate whatever advice is given.

The kind that'll die in the summer.

You'll need to overseed like right now to handle any bare spots. You'll be able to keep an awesome lawn that's green pretty much year round if you overseed every year and use the irrigation system.

It's pretty green right now...but there's patches of clover like shit and there's some spots where the grass looks thin where there's dirt/mud etc showing through pretty good. I'm ignorant on overseeding. Any links where I can read about doing this...I'm aware of it but want to understand it better and know what I'm doing also. The fescue looks to be in big clumps all about the yard with long blades right now. What can I do about spots where there;s just dirt and very little grass? When it snowed I think that killed some parts in my front yard where some vehicles got parked for a day or two due to snow.

I started to look into overseeding to get that year round green grass until I talked to a neighbor that is doing it. In the winter it grows so fast he has to mow at least twice per week. And on further reflection I enjoy the 5ish month break from mowing and yard work.

I use prodiamine for pre emergent, it's generic version of barricade which is a really good pre emergent.

For post emergent is usually do a mix of quinclorac (kills crab grass) and 2 4-D amine ( good for basically all your other broadleaf weeds)
