Seems that way. Was pretty surprised to see so few meetups/events tonight and tomorrow night and I'm surprisingly free of work so I was trying to be entertained
Yeah man. I'll pm you my number. I'm about to get on my bike with a buddy. Prolly end up in the quarter or some shit. You trying to get drunk and or high?
It is. Also go to French 75 bar. Good sort of solo bars. Or really any good restaurant bar there. Or just go to Butcher, sit at the bar and eat and drink everything.
I would like to recommend Killer Poboys to the thread. I ate there last month and it was fucking awesome.
ohhaithur I frequent Nawlins a lot so I can help you out here. Go check out the Garden District, it's a great area and not super full with tourists. Also there's a lot of really great shops and cafes that daddy fat sacks can def recommend to you. If you're staying in the Quarter then go eat breakfast at Cafe Beignet and get their Cajun hashbrowns (also it's a great people watching spot since it's next to NOPD and you can see a cornucopia of bailed out hooligans). If you want to eat at a really cool spot with some history then check out Napoleon House (http://www.napoleonhouse.com/history). I also liked Saint Martin's last time I was there. In the CBD check out Cellardoor (https://www.zagat.com/r/cellar-door-new-orleans), Balise, or Mother's.
Butcher Brisket gets an 8. Bartender elite though 29 minutes from arrival to departure, which is hilariously fast. Took three minutes to get my food after ordering
Last time I was down there I ended up shitfaced, alone, and at a bar called "Techno Club" in the warehouse district. There were dudes making out with dudes, chicks making out with chicks, dudes making out with chicks, a guy juggling light-up balls, lasers, strobe lights, and blasting electronica. Probably ought to avoid it.
Shit, they probably thought I was in costume. I'd adlready gotten to the bar and (inexplicably) bought two beers before I fully comprehended how weird it was.
Let me preface this by saying I know it's probably lame as shit, but I'm helping to plan a bachelor party in New Orleans and the majority of the group wants to do one of those swamp tours one of the days we're there. Airboats, gators, the whole nine yards. Anyone have any recs for a good company or guide service to book?
This is pretty close - 30 mins across the Lake. I think they have shuttles from downtown. http://www.pearlriverecotours.com/
Boarding flight to your fine city for a bachelor party. Last time I was there was the LSU beat down of OSU in 2008. Best titty bars in town?
Rain won't bother me, it's been rainy all spring in Columbus I'm used to it. Staying at Hotel Montleone, I see Dixie is literally right around the corner lol.
Dixie divas is gross. I was lying. Ha. Got you good. Penthouse is probably the best honestly. You can go from tit bar to tit bar on bourbon. Penthouse is one of the few places with a cover. But I would definitely recommend Dixie divas and gentlemans quarter really early in the morning If you're into depravity.
Do it. Also my friend makes really great cocktails at 21st amendment right by your hotel. A little pricey but I bet if you say 'go noles' he'll hook it up. He's tall and black works at night.
Was at Penthouse last weekend, talent was pretty good. Stumbling out of there and walking on bourbon at 5 AM was a harrowing experience to say the least though. Also, caught an awesome street band on Frenchman St. last weekend. It was three dudes, one on keys, one on drums and another playing violin with a wah-wah peddle. They were fucking jamming
21st has become my favorite bar to go to when there are a million people in the Quarter. They always have a great jazz band. phunkybuck hope you enjoy the inevitable civil war that will take place on Friday. No need to bring a gun to the city, you can probably just find one on the ground
Can't wait till these redneck mouth breathers from outta town gtfo and go back home. There has been a rash of unrelated shootings, too. Be safe.
Christ. I will let my buddies know to be extra sure not to start any shit. Assuming you guys are talking about the statues being removed? What is happening tomorrow night?
Happened a few blocks from my crib which is pretty safe. http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2017/05/man_shot_near_lower_garden_dis.html They're not taking any statues down this weekend I don't think. Bayou boogaloo is this weekend. Free festival on bayou St. John. It's like a nola canoe/kayak/homemade barge regatta on the bayou. Look it up. Lots of local bands. I'll be there depending on weather
It's coming down tonight (the last and most iconic one), per the local news. Bayou Boogaloo, which fat daddy mentioned, would be fun for a bachelor party. Great bars and restaurants with patios are near that too.
It depends on what you want. If you want just a lapdance and throw some dollars then either is fine. But if you want a good deal and go upstairs? Make sure you go to Scores.
I rode my bike by beaugaurd hours before it was taken down. There's no official date on Lee statue removal but apparently they put up barricades, no parking signs and suspended the street car downtown. http://www.theadvocate.com/new_orleans/news/article_47a6d19e-3bfa-11e7-a1c1-47f6cb96a80c.html
