One of the kids I coached is heading to VWC in the summer. TFC does take kids from outside the GTA but they had to have been in the provincial program to get selected. They don't have a residency program like Vancouver does. Impact have little interest in kids outside of Montreal.
Mexico put 7 past El Salvador so we should win the group Edit: sorry it was 6, but the point stands that El Salvador blows
Supposedly bossed them as well both technically and athletically. Mexico added a super late goal to make in 4-3. Team has great attacking talent. Sargent, Carleton, Akinola, Weah. Like Durkin as a DM as well. D is just OK. Overall really talented squad.
Last goal for Mexico was an own goal too. Carleton gets most of the pub but Sargent has dominated, and was probably the best player at the Nike friendlies as well. Will be interested to see where he goes when he turns 18.
Another note: for people that don't know, Mexico has been one of the most dominant youth organizations in the world in recent history. The previous 3 U17 world cups, they won it, made the finals, and made the semi's. They hadn't lost in 24 games before this one. I'm not saying our youth system has arrived or anything, but this is significant and shows real progress. Spoiler we'll probably come out and lose to el salvador in 3 days after saying this
Sargent has really come on strong. He was great at the Nike Friendlies, but people were still sleeping on him. Now Brian Sciaretta stated that he would move Sargent up the u20s because he is probably the best u20 FW and the u17 have Weah and potentially Ferreira on the bench. Somebody specifically asked if he would take him over Haji Wright and he said yes.
So if I understand this correctly, we're pretty much qualified for the world cup already. Top 2 teams out of 3 in each group qualify, and if we lose to Cuba, all 3 will be 1-1, but we have a 9 goal advantage on Cuba at the moment. That said, we should skate past them (Honduras beat them 7-1 and we hammered Honduras today) and likely meet mexico again for the championship.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/.../rangers-loanee-emerson-hyndman-wont-10345907 Bournemouth manager says Hyndman isn't staying with the Rangers or going to Celtic and will be with the team next year. Pretty good news I think. Very complimentary of him.
They still need to show up at the world cups, but the 2 wins over Mexico were huge. Mexico's youth teams don't lose to CONCACAF teams and we put them on their pampers twice in a couple month span
Sargent is the best number 9 prospect in the last decade. He has it all. Interesting to see if he goes to schalke when he turns 18, as he's trained with them recently.
19 year old American Matthew Olosunde is in United's traveling squad and could potentially make his debut tomorrow.
I don't know if he'll ever be with SKC, I think I remember hearing he never signed the homegrown player contract they offered him.
Looks like no CCV for the U20 WC due to injury. Sounding like Sargent will be on the U20 roster. Which also because of some ridiculous FIFA rule, will make Josh ineligible for the U17 WC later in the year.
I read that too and I really hope they're just kicking the tires on him by listing him on the preliminary roster. He's really good but I don't think he'd be better than Haji or Akale. No reason to take him away from the u17 team just to be a bench player for the U20's.
Sargent wont ever suit up for Sporting. He will get better offers abroad. Commented about that a couple weeks ago.

The Schalke guys didn't get released because Schalke kind of does that. But none of Akale/Olosunde/Gaines/Perez
Perez didn't get released by Fiorentina either. But still picking some of those attackers over Akale in particular is just ridiculous. Haji Wright wouldn't have been released, but Tab wouldn't have called him in as well. Sounds like CCV and Fossey are still not 100% in for the WC. Basically see how their health is for camp and go from there. Our spine at CB and CM is really good (even if CCV isn't healthy), but I worry about our attack. He also never called in Farfan the entire U20 cycle. And by the time Farfan started a few matches with Portland at LB, it was too late for him.
He's had all sorts of registration issues in Spain apparently, and hasn't played a single match at any level for Las Palmas. He was training with the Crew recently: http://www.dispatch.com/sports/2017...-of-son-upcoming-ghana-friendly-against-usmnt
Trying to think of what that lineup is going to look like. ---------------Sargent-Lennon ----Zelalem- Adams-DLT-Williamson ----------Acosta-EPB-Glad-Redding I'm assuming Fossey and CCV aren't going to be ready to go and I'm (Probably stupidly) assuming Tab wouldn't take Sargent unless he was going to start him. Fuck I would like that lineup so much better with Akale up top and Lennon on one of the wings. Edit: Apparently FIFA rules have changed and you can play in both the U20's and 17's in the same year. Thank God
