This was my problem with the talk. She said the timing on those two things scared voters that were fully prepared to vote for her. I do believe, had the election been several months prior, the fear-mongering of the right wouldn't have been enough to win Trump the election. But one day doesn't make a bit of difference. She lost by ignoring states she needed and revisiting states she could afford to ignore. And I think she's better off just being on a lecture circuit at this point. She needs to put her political career to bed.

This has been a huge debate at work today. My thoughts are that these kids should have to honor their commitment to the respective branch. The reason being that they get for free a borderline Ivy league education, job training that could earn them 6 figures straight out of service, and more contacts and resources in 4 years by 22yo than most people accumulate in many more years. Also, the acceptance rates at Air Force, West Point, and the Naval Academy are roughly 10% every year. Not really fair to those that barely get rejected when someone else doesn't fulfill the same obligation they would have had they made it into the academy. Lastly, it kinda goes against the Selfless Service aspect of military values. Also, I kinda take offense to the "pair of recruiters in a run down strip mall preying on underprivileged youth. The military and their academies should be trying to display the tangible benefits they can provide toward a prospective recruit's professional goals" statement. I can guarantee you that there are more "overcame background to make something of themselves" stories stemming from the military than pretty much any other entity. To many people, myself included, those recruiters were the first step to making better lives for themselves. There are many tangible benefits toward a prospective recruits professional goals that are already in place.
