Ya know, Kessler or Osweiler probably aren't going to get it done. If the price of Pat Mahomes is #10 overall plus a boatload of picks to move up, Kizer at #52 is good value. I don't know what he did wrong in the draft process, but seemed like every pundit and scout highlighted the positives of the other 3 QBs and glossed over the negatives, and highlighted his negatives and glossed over the positives. Truth is, I think they all have similar floors and upsides. We just got ours at #52. We got the best player in the draft, hopefully a starting TE and a guy on DL that can help us out, and two lotto tickets with Peppers and Kizer. Overall, could have been worse.
really don't think there's a ton of separation between the top 4 or 5 qbs in the this draft. take a shot on a guy in the 2nd and if it doesn't work, move on. much happier with this than spending a top ten pick on trubisky. no nothing about the dt
The more I watch the Kizer games on YouTube the more I like him. Big Ben kind of player. I don't know what happened to them at the end ofbthia year, but 1.5 seasons of really good play for him. Good accuracy too
Just saw the battery charges against Brantley were dropped. Hope it ends up being a steal if everything works out.
I'm glad we have Greg Williams to get in Brantley's ass. When is going hard he's really fucking good.
I know it is early and I am being a complete optimist, but with the revamped O-Line, and the extremely talented and young D-Line, they seems to have the trenches set for next year, and the D-Line set for years to come. Garrett/Bryant, Shelton, Brantley/Meder, and Ogbah/Nassib is a solid start.
You guys should be poised to win at least 4-6 games this season which will be good enough to avoid the Suck for Sam campaign that the Jets are planning on winning.
There are some members of the national media that think we could win 7 to 9 games. I think we'll be better but I think we're probably closer to 5 or 6
"What if I told you a NFL team starting Jabril Peppers won more than four games in a single season? ESPN presents Running From The Ghost Of JT, a 30 for 30 original."
Not sure why so many people discrediting Kessler. Played fine last year when given the opportunity. He isn't going to be a superstar and blow you away, but he also won't make many mistakes and can manage a game. Sit Kizer for the year, barring injury, and roll with Kessler as the guy for next year.
Getting optimistic for next year, think we may win 4 or 5 games. Get a pick in the 3-6 range, and if Houston's ends up being 12-15, we're gonna have a ton of young talent to ruin.
not trying to poo-poo on you, but rookie TEs typically don't do very well. i'm preparing myself for our high picks to struggle and I sure as hell don't wanna see Kizer this year. My gut is that Ogunjobi, Brantley, or even Zane Gonzalez is gonna be our best rookie. don't forget Ogunjobi
In normal circumstances yes Kizer should not play, let Kessler, Osweiller, Hogan and insert QB signed off the street get killed. But, with there being 3 QBs expected to be top 5 picks, with higher ceilings than any of this years QBs and the Browns probably being in position to get one, you have to find out if Kizer is your guy or if you're back in the market in next years draft or making a play for Garropolo or Cousins.
Hue should know if he wants to move forward with him or not after having a full year to work with him. I trust Hue when it comes to QB's. Everyone freaked out about taking Kessler in the 3rd round and he was probably the 2nd best rookie QB last year. Regardless, we have the cap space to address it in FA next year or the draft capital to make a move for Darnold or Rosen or whoever if we want to. I think Kizer is going to be very good if he's not forced into playing too early.
Browns sign S Calvin Pryor from Jets and send LB Demario Davis back to the Jets. So who slides in to the open LB slot? Do they move Ogbah back from DE to LB to play with Kirksey and Collins? Nassib start at DE with Garrett?
love this move. straight up player-for-player deal. Pryor is in a contract year and is definitely the type of player I could see balling out for his big deal this offseason. i was nervous about all the stuff I read the past few weeks about moving Kirksey to OLB in Greg Williams' system. I hope this move puts him back in the MLB slot where he excels. Personally, I would like to see Ogbah stay on the Dline, and see Collins, Kirksey and a rotation of Orchard/Schobert/Cam Johnson (underrated player) at the other OLB spot.
I'll take it... Pryor is 5-11, 207 pounds and entering his fourth NFL season out of Louisville. Originally a first round pick (18th overall) by New York in 2014, he has started 38 of his 44 career games. He has registered 184 tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and half of a sack. He started all 15 games he appeared in last season and amassed 60 tackles, six passes defensed and one forced fumble.
He's actually pretty bad and cant cover for shit. That said I think it's a good move for the Browns to give him a shot
You're in nickel more than your base 4-3. Peppers will be a hybrid LB/S. Ogbah can't play LB in a 4-3, will probably see a guy like Joe Schoebert or Dominique Alexander as the 3rd LB when they need it.
absolutely true. He had a very solid rookie year where he was thrown into the mix and played pretty well, but he's largely been a disappointment. we still don't have a safety who can cover worth a shit, but Pryor and Peppers at least give us some semblance of an identity at the safety position... thats something that we sorely lacked last year.
This deal is trash for trash but I hope that Pryor plays well for you guys so the Jets management can get embarrassed once again.
I expect Schobert to play a lot. Probably easier to play Kirksey in the middle with Schobert outside but I thought they wanted Kirksey at Will.
The Browns are at least headed in the right direction. The Jets only hope is to suck enough to land Darnold.
Any chance the Browns go after either Decker or Maclin? Jets looking to trade, but will more than likely cut Decker. Coming off hip and shoulder surgery, but if right, can be productive. Maclin could help as well. I would take either on a 1 yr. deal.
