Seems like Conte would prefer Morata while the board prefers Lukaku.

Doubt Chelsea could've kept Lukaku on loans this long and he wasn't gonna play second fiddle to Costa but he's another black mark on Mourinho's declining reputation.

Mourinho's reputation was never a rising star. He's in bed with an agent and could give two shits if players move on. His resume won't include managing Southampton or Valencia, he's backed by money.

I think most people wanted a buy back clause similar to what Real Madrid inserted into the deal that sold morata to juve. Mourinho basically told the board not to bother because we will never bring lukaku back.

Our board has typically made good decisions in the transfer market but striker is the exception. Costa was mourinho's guy and I think he had influence on him. Torres amongst every other striker after drogba seemed to be picked by the board.

I would prefer to give conte his top target. If conte chooses lukaku, belotti or morata that's who I want. Some of lukaku's hold up play and off the ball play concern me with regards to his fit.

Did I read correctly that Ross Barkley wants £145,000 a week? Who does he think is going to pay him that? Maybe Arsenal if they lose ozil and/or Alexis and get panicked? I just don't see what he's done to justify the money people are discussing for him.

It's ok, Zaha told Palace he will sign a deal for 110/week

Some of these players are not being advised correctly. United, city, Chelsea and maybe Arsenal for 1-2 guys are the only ones paying those kind of wages and even then it's usually either extensions for current guys or top tier purchases.

They will get close to it I bet, the money coming into the EPL right now is silly. I'd take Zaha at 110 over Barkley right now though.

See on telegraph that Chelsea want Bakayoko for 50 or so. He's damn good but Kante, Matic, Fabregas, is he better than any of them?

They can always loan him out.

simple answer is no. he's only 22 though, so he has lots of room to grow.

Fab is getting up there and can't play against the best sides any more and Matic, despite his great season, is probably the easiest player to upgrade in the squad.

Matic can be incredibly inconsistent and we need someone who can play with kante that provides more of what matic does than Cesc. Maybe bakayoko doesn't become first choice right away but we need someone who can go box to box and give kante more freedom to move upfield and try and win the ball in the other teams half.

We also could end up playing more 3-5-2 next year which would mean 3 of them on the field.

Then Baka is your man. Much more of an enforcer than a creator. If you're looking for someone to replace Cesc's skillset then don't look Baka's way.

I wouldn't expect much of Baka in year 1 in the PL but watch out once he learns the ropes. Think Idrissa Gueye's move to Everton and his performance in year 1 vs year 2. I can see Baka having a similar progression.

I really like gueye but wasn't this his first year at Everton? I agree with you on bakayako though. I think kante provides more playmaking then people realize because he has had to do a lot of the defensive work. Even with matic kante is still bearing a majority of it. If conte wants to stick to 3-4-2-1 I think he needs to have a couple different looks in the 2 man midfield and we need someone who could potentially play kante's role if god forbid he got hurt

Has there been any word on what PSG are plotting? Having lost the french league title I assume there will be Qatari oil money being thrown around like candy to get it back

PSG made some shitty moves last year that didn't pan out (Jese, Krychowiak, Ben Arfa)

i've seen PSG linked with Isco, PEA, Perisic, and Atletico players (Griezmann & Carrasco) because they are linked with hiring front office people from Atleti.

They could get poached though, because I've seen mention of folks sniffing around Verratti, Aurier, Matuidi, Di Maria (China), and Marquinhos.

Not sure he will want that. I don't think there is a team that makes it harder for a CM to play than real. Modric, Kroos and casemiro are going to be hard to displace but I guess they could run more of the 4-4-2. Just couldn't play bale and benzema

Atletico would be a solid fit for him. I think Arsenal makes a move but not sure they can convince him to come if they don't have champions league

Telegraph says Monaco rejected a 103 million pound bid from Real for Mbappe, gonna call bullshit on that 1.

Named most outstanding player of South American U-17 Championship, which Brazil won. Being dubbed the next Neymar. Not saying it justifies the price tag but Perez was mad after losing the Neymar and G.Jesus races (both of which had plenty senior appearances in Brazil). He will stay in Brazil another year and should feature in the senior squad.

I mean sure, but this is a pretty big shift in transfer business. Are all young teenagers with potential going to cost $25million+?

I think it's bigger than just a big price tag

I'm just saying this is more than just complaining about big money transfers. This type of move changes quite a bit.

Clubs will now think they can get more money for any good youth prospect so this will trickle down to effect more than just clubs with a worldwide brand :twocents:
