Just read the official announcement and he is staying in Brazil till 2019 unless Flamengo and Real Madrid agree he can join before than that.
I don't think it changes much at all. Multi million euro youth player deals have been happening for a while. For the extreme cases like this one, there are only a few teams that are able to do such a thing and all the stars have to align - superstar potential (this guy, Mbappe, etc.), the right contract status.
You can't compare Mbappe to this situation. Mbappe has now gone through an entire season as a first teamer, and has proven he can play. This kid has played in the Brazilian League an entire two times, and is only 16. I'm not saying there's going to be a lot of 46 million dollar deals for kids that aren't even 18, but it's something that Pep is commenting on how he too thinks it's going to change how things work going forward.
And before you bring up that City might have bid for Mbappe before this season, it didn't even happen so we don't even know if it's 100% true
I just don't see what's changing other than dollar amounts being higher across the board season after season, which I don't consider significant.
If it really does have a huge effect, a lot of smaller teams will end up making a lot of money on players who don't pan out. As a fan of a Europa League club I can live with it.
Especially considering his age it is insane money. Good for JD, but I think they may regret this one in a year or two.
That contract will definitely be bought out at some point and he will laugh all the way to the bank. Definitely improved them though
King is good so at least they're not relying on him like Sunderland did. Callum Wilson is pretty good too but his knee is fucked. Afobe has sucked since moving up.
Their average wage per week this season was 34 k, that is fucking insane for Defoe. Congrats to every Bournemouth player getting a substantial raise.
Wouldn't be surprised if King is sold this summer, he's been linked with a handful of teams. They have got to be starting Defoe if they are paying him 130k a week, which I still can't fully believe.
Regarding Vinicius Junior, apparently, Liverpool, Man City, PSG and Barcelona also put bids, some when he was 14 yrs old: In 2015, Liverpool were the first team willing to pay the €30m buyout clause but Vinícius' agents didn't see Liverpool as the ideal scenario for his european transition. Barcelona came next and they tried to sell the image of Barça being a club of "family" and their ability to handle and make brazilian talents successful. They preferred approaching Vinicius personally with little contact with Flamengo. Then came PSG and Man City who were also willing to pay the buyout but his agents didn't see them as the right place for his talents. His agents were always eyeing for a move to either of the Spanish giants. Real Madrid took an aggressive stance, after having lost Neymar in 2013, and directly contacted Flamengo. Flamengo then saw an opportunity of profiting even more than from just the buyout clause amidst so much interest. They used this as a way for Vinícius to sign a new contract with the club which would increase the buyout clause. They stated clearly that if he'd choose not to sign a new contract - Viniciús would remain in the Under 20 squad and that a statement would be made that he forced his way out of the club by using the buyout clause. However, due to his passion for the club, he had no intention of leaving on this terms so while the new contract was being discussed, there was a bidding war between Real and Barça. Real made the first move offering €35m to which Barça equalled. Madrid then kept increasing their bids until it reached €45m and Barça were unwilling to match it. The 2nd of May, Flamengo's CEO Fred Luz, travelled to Madrid for the first leg of the Champions semi-finals to finalise the terms of the deal. Real demanded that Viniciús should be immediately promoted to the first team and the constant use of him in the games to further develop him.
Marca reporting that AC Milan lead the Morata sweepstakes and Madrid would let him go for 60m euros. http://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2017/05/24/5924ae6eca474150358b465c.html
Looks like Iker Casillas will leave Porto and prefers a move to the EPL. I dont know what the fee or wages are but I assume there will be interest. Link below, in Spanish: http://cadenaser.com/programa/2017/05/23/el_larguero/1495573140_576478.html
#Bayern Munich sign another young German promising player in Leon Goretzka from Schalke, free transfer in 2018 is what's being reported. Also, Chilean press claiming that the Alexis transfer is imminent.
Hahaha. Actually read a report that if Usmanov takes over he is willing to pay Alexis 17m a year, which is more than Bayern is offering.
Just saw the daily mail quote the Defoe wages at £65k per week for the 3 year deal. That makes a lot more sense than the £130k quoted originally. Probably took slightly less than he could have gotten to get the longer deal. For that price I like it a lot for Bournemouth.
Greizmann says, "I don't know if people will understand but the players, my family, the media, you all know that I play football to win titles." "I want to live those emotions, taste it for myself and see what it feels like." I wonder if he follows other teams?
Willy Cabellero, Bacary Sagna, and Jesus Navas will not have contracts renewed so they're all out on a free this summer. Only Yaya left for City. Reports that City have let him know it would be on decreased wages and he said he wants to stay
Not sure what is going to happen with him. He's clearly 3rd option behind Agüero and Jesus. Patrick Roberts looked really good at Celtic this year from what I saw and Pep believes Sterling can play up too also if needed so it doesn't look good for him. Only rumor I've seen at all was him to Bayern with 50 mil for Coman which doesn't make sense to me.
Have seen the following "reports": Bruma to RB Leipzig for 18m euros Morata to AC Milan for 60m euros: https://www.thescore.com/liga/news/1307672 Fabinho to Juventus for 30m euros: http://www.football-italia.net/103127/juventus-dive-fabinho
Fabinho would be a good fit at juve but that number seems low for him. The other 2 at least the money looks about right. The morata one was an unreliable Italian paper. I doubt the sell him before united, Chelsea and possibly Arsenal settle their striker situation which could lead to a bidding war. Price not good enough to sell early and when it comes to selling Madrid usually make out pretty well.
During his Le Havre days, Mendy turned us down to go to Marseille. It's safe to say that move worked out for him.
Is pep all in on sterling? If he thinks Silva is an upgrade why not? If they will spend the money to improve the defense and they are willing to spend more you may as well. Obviously not a good move though if that is money that now won't be spent on defense.
Mendy has had a textbook progression for a young player. Just shows you what regular playing time can do for a kid.
With only a year remaining on his contract, Everton will be lucky to get half that. I'm all in on bringing Gylfi back, though.
