Not exactly. It is the Liverpool way to spend that kind of money on British "talent" currently in the EPL.
I disagree 100%.. adding his pace and finishing on the opposite side as Mane is exciting. 35m isn't that bad to me especially these days
Reports that Real Madrid will offer 135m euros for Mbappe http://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/le-real-madrid-va-offrir-135-millions-pour-mbappe-1179922.html
Apparently thats a very reliable source for French transfer news. Had Kante to Chelsea and Martial to United before anybody else. When I first saw it, I thought it was just a rumor.
Barcelona targeting Ousmane Dembele now that Tuchel is gone: http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbo...198170751/ofensiva-del-barca-por-dembele.html
I dont think that it needs to happen for Mbappe to join. The sale of James for 70m euros and Morata for around the same will be more than enough to cover the Mbappe transfer fee.
Just don't see you spending that kind of money to sit Mbappe on the bench. Bale is gone if Mbappe comes in as they play the same position.
Got you. I thought you meant that Madrid needed to sale Bale because of money issues. Given Bale/Benzema's health issues this past season, he would have plenty of opportunity to play. That's one thing that Zidane has done a great job, managing the squad while getting the most out of his players.
Yeah you definitely don't need to sell to raise funds, just think Bale will demand a starting position and will leave if Mbappe is brought in.
He handled the final (at home) graciously. I understand that and perhaps you're right. Even without Mbappe coming in, Zidane is going to have to manage Isco/Asensio/Bale really carefully next year. Many people prefer Isco to start right now. Hard to argue with the results.
Shhh. Don't ruin the fun. Imagine this board if Bale went to Arsenal. Disclaimer: I want Bale to stay at Madrid as long as he can still run like the wind.
I really hope Mbappe doesn't to Madrid right now because I love watching him play and feel like he wouldn't get consistent starts. Same thing with the Dembele/Barca.
Didn't Bale really not want to play for Utd back when he was with Spurs? Obviously things have changed since 2013.
Bigla is next.... Conti is possible, meeting on Thursday. Still talking to Tolisso but he wants to play in the Champions League :( Seems like Morata to Man U is picking up steam. Belotti or Andre Silva are options at striker.
Just glad VVD isn't going to Chelsea, would be incredible as the middle man of a back 3. Wonder how well he does in a more open system but encouraging signing for Pool if it happens.
He just really preferred Madrid at that time, he'd grown up wanting to play for them. United actually offered Tottenham more money.
Why wouldn't Tottenham try and bring Bale back? If they can find the right combination of Bale/Kane/Alli/Eriksen it would be deadly. Isco is making Bale's spot his own and can't see Bale accepting a bench role.
I agree on both points, I just unfortunately cannot see that happening right now. We would have to pay him huge wages on top of giving significant raises to a handful of other first team players, not to mention whatever the transfer fee would be. With the stadium debt I just can't see it happening this summer. We are eventually going to have to decide if we truly want to be one of the best teams in the country going forward and reconsider our wage structure. I think we will move our ceiling towards the 150k-175k a week area in the near future but that isn't enough to be bringing in players like Bale.
That would greatly worry me in ability to keep players more than anything else. EPL is swimming in money. Man U would throw £350k+ at Kane without blinking.
Clubs are going to throw silly money at our best players, that is one unfortunate side effect of playing well lately. We are never going to offer the financial advantages of a Man United so wasting time worrying about it isn't going to do us any good. I foresee the majority of our core first team being here for at least the next two seasons, taking us into the new stadium. Most of them are young and seem loyal enough to at least give us that much before moving on for more money elsewhere. They have all signed new contracts and are locked up for a long time, so it would cost world record money to pry the likes of Kane and Alli from us any time soon. In the meantime if we continue making the CL they will definitely be compensated with improved wages. The main thing we need to do is keep the manager for the long term, as we will continue to produce players from the academy that are capable of making an impact in the first team. Our training facilities are some of the best in the world and we are a season away from adding a stadium to match.
The CL is a drop in the bucket compared to the league now. It's said to be costing Arsenal £20mil this year. Across a 25-man squad, that's £15,385/week/player. Not a nothing amount but not a game changer either.
With the increased revenue from ticket sales in the new stadium we will be able to improve our wage structure going forward, so if there is a player we deem irreplaceable I'd imagine we will step up with a solid offer. Not many of our players are demanding moves for money at the moment, so I doubt Levy is just going to open the check book for the hell of it. As an Arsenal fan I'm sure you can appreciate a club being fiscally responsible.
That is the name of the game, every club on Earth has had to sell good players at one point or another. The challenge is being able to produce more good players to take their place, or by buying other good players with the money you generate from sales. That is never going to change, so not sure what point it is you are trying to get at. TOTTENHAM MAY HAVE TO SELL GOOD PLAYERS AT SOME POINT. Happy?
Unless Levy sells out to some oil moneyed billionaires after the ground is complete, we are never going to be United/City/Chelsea with unlimited money to burn. We will definitely increase our wage ceiling going forward but I suspect we will never be that club who pays someone 250k a week. I'm ok with that.
