Lauren Alaina might be the worst thing to ever happen to country music. I'm not posting a video; if you've heard the song, you know. If you haven't, count yourself lucky and listen to some George Strait or something.
We were so close to being spared. http://people.com/bodies/lauren-alaina-says-her-eating-disorder-nearly-destroyed-her-voice/
my god sam hunt is a mega faggot. this is the worst song i've ever heard. checks off nearly every requirement of the bro country movement.
Heard this on the radio yesterday. They're not above just ripping off the John Mayer sound and calling it country I see
How you have Jessi Coulter, Sturgill, Ryan Bingham, Robert Earl Keen, Shooter, Chris Stapleton, Lee Ann Womack, Willie, Kris, and Jamey Johnson then fuck it up with those no talent fucks Toby and Eric just bothers me.
Not sure I get the commercialized comment. To me it's an ok album that is too short without pushing much new material. There's a few good tracks in there but he definitely does not seem ambitious with this album. It seems like he put it out simply because it's time to put out an album.
Steve Earle on the state of modern country music: What does he think of today’s country music? “The best stuff coming out of Nashville is all by women except for Chris Stapleton. He’s great. The guys just wanna sing about getting fucked up. They’re just doing hip-hop for people who are afraid of black people. I like the new Kendrick Lamar record, so I’ll just listen to that.” https://www.theguardian.com/music/2...wanna-be-an-outlaw-interview?CMP=share_btn_tw
Brett Eldridge's new song is the worst thing I've ever heard He brags about not being able to change a tire
Midlands single is good but I'm not buying those guys. They're basically Big Machine's answer to the latest mini run of success of the Americana and traditionalist country artists like Stapleton. They're all Nashville and LA insiders, not exactly the hard scrabble group from Texas that they're trying to depict. Good single, same old shit otherwise.
Idk but everytime i hear that 'My old man' song i cant resist following that part up with 'lives in a garbage can'. It just fits in so well.
Purists are hypocrites. George Strait sounds like Rascal Flatts compared to George Jones. The music is always changing and who gives a shit what is considered country - except for what has been on the radio for the last 2-3 years - they've finally mailed it in.
Well thats my point. I dont think early 90s country sounded anything like 60s-70s country. ANd 70s sure as hell didnt sounds like the 50s. Every person thinks the new stuff sucks. My grandfather thought Garth Brooks wasnt any different than Hootie and the Blowfish. Fwiw, I like almost everything, but I grew up on George Jones, Merle, and Cash. So Alabama and Alan Jackson sound like pop compared to that, although I love them.
I guess. A lot of people point to Garth as the beginning of the end. I think the extreme decline started with Toby Keith's how do you like me now album, which was, is, and always will be a big pile of shit.
