I have no idea what brand any of the stuff we had was. I went to the 3 week prior to due date OB appointment and the Dr said the DirTessa was 3 cm dialated already. We freaked out and went straight to Baby's-R-Us and bought half the store.
Don't let these jerks get you down, when baby double wakes you up screaming at 4am for the fourth time in 5 hours, you're going to be happy you're hearing those cries through a Samsung
We did the Peg Perego car seat and stroller and they're great. Did a pretty standard Graco pack n play with bassinet attachment that worked well when our son was in our room the first few months. I think we have the Samsung which works well. Our kid was in 3 month clothes at 1 month so make sure to no just buy a bunch of newborn clothes. Velcro swaddles are a godsend
dblplay1212, the reason recommendations like this don't matter is because everyone has a personal opinion, and no two babies are alike. Example: we were in a much better financial situation with kid 2 than we were with kid 1, so we felt more comfortable buying higher end things. Everyone told us to get a Britax car seat and travel system, because they were so great. I fucking hate it. It's heavy as shit and deeper than other car seats so getting the baby in/out is a pain in the ass. Our much cheaper Chicco travel system with the first kid was way better. As for monitors, we've had good luck with the Summer brand monitor, which is the biggest player in the game. We have this one since we can connect multiple cameras to one receiver and it toggles back and forth between both kids: https://www.target.com/p/summer-inf...plit-screen-digital-baby-monitor/-/A-14714034. Plus, it's two way so I can tell the 5-year-old to go the fuck to sleep.
Our almost 3 week old has been damn fussy at nights and has no problem sleeping during the day. I think we'll start trying to see if we can try to keep her up a bit at night before we try to go to bed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do that without royally pissing her off?
3 weeks? I would be surprised if a 3 week old was to the point where they don't need any milk at night.
You're misunderstanding me. She's going to wake up, no doubt, but she's so much fussier at night. During the day she can sleep 3 hour stretches without any problem, but at night we're lucky if she sleeps an hour straight.
Gotcha, yeah I'm not sure unless she's hot/cold/uncomfortable where she sleeps at night as opposed to during the day.
She is just figuring it out, not much you can do i don't think. Sometimes my kids would "cluster feed" at that time of evening. Meaning if they normally had a bottle every 3 hours sometimes they would want another bottle after an hour. Basically try and get her really full before bed time and hopefully that will make her sleep longer.
Dadtips for dblplay1212 : - YouTube or borrow from the library Happiest Baby On The Block about a week before the baby is due. Biggest life saver for the Scorpios as first time parents a few years back. - White noise machine wherever the baby is sleeping. If he/she cries in the car, white noise app on phone or a static radio station. - Velcro Swaddles - sleep train as early as your pediatrician recommends it's ok to do so. Just put headphones in and lock Cyn in another room so she can't give in. - don't let Cyn ever hear you complain about being tired bc of the baby.
We have a Cruz, it's great. I love the extendable handle as I don't have to slouch at all when pushing it, and it glides much easier than the others we tried in the store. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I know someone else mentioned a Summer monitor, thats what we have and it works great, have no complaints so far. Like someone else said, stay away from a lot of newborn clothes, as they'll only fit for a very short amount of time most likely. My daughter is about to be 8 mos and 18 mo pants are like capris on her.
I think you were misled. You shouldn't get a Britax car seat because it is lighter/easier to use. As you said, they're much heavier. You get a Britax because they are like the Volvo of car seats and that only matters if you get in an accident. We got Britax for the rear facing car seat with the matching stroller. The stroller was fine with the car seat but is uncomfortable with a kid that wants to sit in it normally. We got a hand-me-down peg-perego stroller and I like that a lot more.
I never said I got it because I was told it's lighter, but the weight is definitely an annoyance. I'm not going to say I wish I had something some may consider to be less safe, but it's not like Chiccos are unsafe.
fwiw-We put a number of small scratches in the paint of the panel behind the door because of the size and weight of the Britax. It's so easy to rub it up against the car when getting it inside. I like the actual seat but I'm with you on the negatives of the product.
If I was having a new baby I would absolutely get an Owlet and Brezza. We had the Brezza and was it worth $150 - absofuckinglutely. 3 am bottle feed- yeah let me press this one button in a half-sleep daze and instantly have a perfect bottle ready. The owlet wasn't around for our daughter, but there was something similar, the Snuza(?), and it helped my wife relax a lot. She was so nervine from working at a children's hospital that just knowing that was on the baby helped her sleep at night. The owlet is similar but much better from what I've heard. We also bought used Graco seat / stroller - got some extra bases and were happy as could be. Find what works for you, let your wife do whatever - most battles aren't worth fighting.
Buying a used car seat seems terrifying to me. I'd like to think most people are honest, but how do you trust a stranger when they say the only line of defense in the event of an accident has never been involved in a crash or compromised in any way?
Inspect it closely, didn't see any signs of cracks, signs of stress in the plastic, or anywhere near where it would've been secured in, looked brand new, all parts worked correctly, etc.. blind trust
My fucking 5 month old is wearing 12 month old clothes and they are barely big enough. This kid is a fucking monster. 22lbs. 100 percentile across the board. We are so fucked if this keeps up.
lol, join the club, my 8 month old is in 24 month clothes I think she's like 98th percentile in height and weight
Haha damn, we aren't far behind but you've got us. 4 months and 16.5 lbs, 76% last check in, wearing 6-9 month clothes and they are tight in his body but hang off his feet like flippers haha
My girlfriend's nephew is super into motorcycles right now so I took my bike over to his house today and let him sit on it and start the engine. Apparently he's been jabbering about it since I left. Feels good man. Might need to let my daughter ride on the back in a parking lot when my bike gets back stateside in a few months; after swearing her to secrecy so her mother doesn't murder me
Lol right on fucking cue, this goddamn Britax car seat broke today. The plastic piece that clicks in on the chest harness snapped. Mini Boomette is 15 months. So glad we spent more money on Britax.
Same thing happened to ours. You can get new clips, I think it was like $10 and they snap in. Luckily we had a second seat so it wasn't a big issue.
Looks like it's out of stock online. Do you think Babies R Us carries them? Edit: Found an aftermarket one on Amazon for $5.
It's a day for father figures not just men. Women who play the role of dad after the sperm donor bails should be honored as well
Happy father's day gentlemen. Got a nice picture for my desk at work from my kids and the wife gave me a bunch of cash and the go ahead to pull the trigger on a new grill I've been wanting. Heading to church and then the in-laws for brunch and then hopefully a long afternoon of watching the US Open. Life is good guys.
Boozy brunch soon, followed by a nap, followed by floating in the pool and watching the CWS. #Blessed Happy Us Day, bros.
So I won the debate with my wife and our son will be playing Flag Football this summer. We'll see how it goes from there, still not holding out any hope for tackle football though.
You need to hit up Craft Street in Oldsmar for brunch. They actually have specialized menu items instead of a generic buffet
Here's a long list of deals for the best day of the year. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...-toast-dad-these-fathers-day-deals/406314001/
had a great 1st fathers day, unfortunately he gave me 4 month sleep regression for the weekend. Mom was on point and took 95% of the wake-ups and let me sleep, but he's been moody all day cause he is so tired he has a hard time even napping mid day. His bedtime is normally 8, started bath and bedtime at 7 last night, he slept until 6 this morning
