Think it's more to get rid of their previous prediction? Plus if it's not clear where a guy is going, then 10 people picking foggy and one person picking x school paints a better picture of the recruitment than 1 guy picking x school and the other 10 guys not putting in a pick at all.
Looks like he's all FSU Josh Newberg I wrote a little something yesterday on what I picked up on day 1 of the IMG 7on7. Here's more from day 2.... I spoke with Justin Fields today at length about a lot of things, the article ran this afternoon. He said there’s 7 teams heavily in the mix and 3 teams that are ‘recruiting him the hardest’. Florida State was among the 7 and in the 3. He didn’t give away too much, but it was probably the most he’s tipped his hand since decommitting from Penn State. During today's elimination tournament I spoke with a source close to the team that told me he believes it’ll be Florida State for Fields. His reasoning was because of his relationship with Jimbo Fisher and Randy Sanders. Also the ability to develop him and coach him while at FSU. I was told Fields’ father has an excellent relationship with Fisher & Sanders and in my interview with Fields, he told me this: http://floridastate.247sports.com/Bolt/5-Star-QB-Justin-Fields-says-7-schools-stand-out-53226511 “It’s going to come down to academics, player development, just knowing the coaches can make me into a better quarterback and I guess the relationships I have with the coaches and the relationships my parents have with those coaches.” The quote above lines up with nearly everything I was told today at IMG. Besides having a relationship with Jimbo Fisher, Dameyune Craig and Tino Sunseri, I was told FSU QB coach Randy Sanders has a relationship with Fields’ parents and has been talking with them, “a few times a week”, for about the last 3-4 weeks. This connects with what we said before camp, that Fields recruitment to FSU has continued to gain steam ever since his short visit to FSU in April. It also speaks to Fields' quote about how he wants to pick a place based on his parents relationship with the staff, among other factors. There’s still a major summer visit that remains for Fields and that’ll be to the University of Florida. Justin would not tip his hand as to when it’s going to take place, but I believe it will, and I think it may be in the coming days. We’ll just have to wait and see since Fields isn’t going to come out and say it. As for a decision, that’s up for debate. Some close to him and the Newton team thought he'd do it in the summer, some said possibly into the fall. I’m not sure on that. My feeling is this goes into the fall. Fields said he’s going to keep an eye on his top schools this fall and the offensive schemes they run. I wouldn’t be surprised if he took a few official visits before announcing. We’ll have to just wait and see though…
Has a school ever signed and enrolled 2, 5* QBs in one class? Technically FSU did in 2001 with Joe Mauer and Adrian McPherson, but no one ever believed Mauer would make it to campus.
Newberg also said yesterday that Warren Thompson wouldn't commit this week and today he committed to Oregon.
49ers didn't resign him after Kelly got fired and he's a free agent currently. He was in the league for 6 years
1 NFL contract is better than no NFL contract. Oh well, who cares. Kid will make the choice he thinks is best for and honestly thanks all that matters.
Congrats to our Nole posters. It appears the lure of a degree from an academic power ranked 92nd (tied) in the nation was just too much to pass up.
2 day visit for Fields Let's see if it actually is a 2 day visit or he pulls an AU visit and leaves after the 25 min slideshow
