also, dropped 35, 21, and 25 on the amusement park hydra map 3 games in a row and still languish in silver 2
i joined a party with people i had played with in a previous game, not noticing their ranks global whatever is no joke in terms of the other players' game sense and anticipation. i got my head blown off about 10 times without having any idea where the shot came from.
i cant even imagine playing at the DMG+ levels at this point, so i have to imagine that global would be fucking torture lol
i played last night and have been rotating around the operation maps. getting better at pistols has made things a lot better for me. community still sucks though.
that c9 - astralis game was incredible. c9 was down 8-0 on their CT side and came back to win with a sweep in OT. looking forward to seeing what they can do tomorrow.
similarly, i just played a comp game on cache, down 10-5 on our CT side, and came back to sweep the rest of the game. dropped another 30, still S2
this is starting to take its toll. tried to carry my team (where i was the only one with a positive k/d) and take the entry role. ended up not getting comms most rounds and getting blindsided only to watch quite possibly the worst awper of all time try to clutch. lost 11-16 on cache.
Yeah it happens. I played a fun game of cache last night and a miserable game on mirage. Dropped 30 on Mirage and lost 16-11. MG2 is fun but you sometimes get some real baddies.
i finally bought a new mic. now people might not make fun of me. nothing fancy but it had good reviews
still sem. anymore i only play after i've been drinking, so sometimes that results in some pretty bad games. the other night when i was doing something stupid someone on my team was like "yellow are you drunk?" yes, yes i was.
i got into another one of those games where i joined a friend's party without knowing who else would be in it. it was like myself, another silver, and 3 master guardians. i think i got 4 kills in 20 rounds.
i suspect a lot of it is just experience and repetition. i have 200 hours on cs:go but maybe less than 100 in competitive. i think i have like 65 wins.
my ratio of total hours to comp hours is super terrible. i think i have ~500 hours overall (a lot of which are surf, kz, and DM) and like 35 comp wins.
maybe once i get a little bit higher i can stack with you guys. i still contend i'm not really S2 level, but going against MG+ would be rough. been trying to do at least one comp game per night
mine are mainly from arms race and death match. i wish they would make more maps for arms race. the current set is super stale. i despise that airport luggage map.
by the way this is probably the most amazing surf video i've ever seen. i still have issues on basic maps sometimes.
Comp is all about developing game sense. The gap between G4 and the badge is less to do with aim and more to do with movement, game sense, and knowing when and how to fight--when to peek and not peek or push or how to enter a site. You can't watch a video of that. It just comes with playing. My biggest piece of advice is to limit your inner rage when you are losing or lose. The fact is you're going to lose. Just think about your plays and mistakes and start another game.
My friend just got a gaming PC so I started a new smurf account. Once it gets ranked I can probably play with you and help boost you up if you want.
it would be fun to stomp people for awhile but then at some point i'd have to actually play at wherever i end up at
You would be surprised at how similar you are to people 3 and 4 ranks higher. This game heavily favors the sum being greater than the individual.
yeah i'm not exactly sure how the rankings work but i think i read that "rounds won" factors heavily into it. like maybe even more than your kills/deaths.
I think the rounds won is just a guess since everyone is pretty blind to how it works. I think all we know is that win/loss is the most important factor and round mvp's might play a role since there was code shown to use it in past iterations of the game.
the wins thing would make sense since one of my steam friends that i played with a lot got banned and i lost like 20 wins. i had been bouncing between gn1 and sem before then and haven't once since.
this thing sounds really good for $20. build quality seems solid. no on/off switch but w/e. would recommend so far.
been trying to add to my map pool lately. i currently only queue cache and mirage, but i want to add nuke and inferno, and eventually the other active duty maps. any tips on getting a feel for playing them competitively? or should i just jump in and learn as i go?
Inferno is hard T side if you don't know angles and how to peek and push. It's easy to get frustrated when you're getting steamrolled. Nuke is the same way. I will say recent changes to both of those maps have made it easier on the Ts. I would honestly find a non valve server and just play on it or play casual and try to get lucky with the vote.
i was thinking the community server route as well. just don't want to jump all in via matchmaking and get yelled into submission. overpass/cbble intrigue me as well, but those are super intimidating
counter point: i made it to post re-ranking DMG without learning any strategies, smokes, nade spots or how to aim. i just picked the p90 and ran around for the most part.
i still dont know any strats, nade spots, smokes, or how to aim i was in a mirage game the other night (sem) where some dude was like "okay execute a main this round" from t side. apparently i was supposed to know what that meant.
actually i've been getting a lot better with nades lately. i had like 3 nade kills in 4 games last night. in the past i would just be lucky to not waste them or hurt one of my teammates.
