Wow, at first I thought you were just being overly harsh on a team doing a weightroom hype video. Then I actually watched the video. My apologies.
It bugs the shit out of my too. White is the only base color. If black isn't in your school's fucking color scheme get the fuck out.
Yes, our game to game are good although no one seems to be able to figure out how to get back to the mid 90's glory of the shiny gold pants. They do have the once a year Shamrock Series uniforms which are generally an abomination but ND hasn't changed the day to day much if at all since Willingham was here.
Tech fans get really sensitive over the color black probably because its the only thing they have now
I just think it's dumb to see teams like Duke or Nebraska or UCLA, etc in black. I don't give enough shits about Tech right now to be insulted by other teams using our color. Shit, I don't always like it when we wear the all black.
As TC mentioned it's not an official color but they've had black jerseys since the 90s so it's not weird for you to think that
Further nerd look at Duke's colors Black is not one of their primary colors, nor secondary colors, but they do have it listed as an acceptable "neutral" in their color palette: https://styleguide.duke.edu/color-palette/
I think we may have actually put this argument to bed as many of our schools don't have white as an official color but wear white uniforms anyway Still think too many schools wear black to try and be trendy but if you think about it's no different than using white or gray as a neutral/background color
Yeah, well, so's your face. But I guess you got me our face masks are gray. I feel like that shouldn't count since it's pretty standard across the board, but I'm sure it is technically part of our color pallate.
Gotcha. You never know, like Packers stole Georgia's G if I'm not mistaken. Of course Georgia just imported Yale's shit wholesale the unoriginal bastards
"In 1979, Hayden Fry helped to create the Tigerhawk, the logo seen on Iowa's football helmets. Since both teams shared the colors of black and gold, Fry gained permission from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the dominant NFL program of the 1970s, to overhaul Iowa’s uniforms in the Steelers’ image. Fry's idea was that if the team were going to act like winners, they first needed to dress like winners. Fry had originally asked Steelers Defensive Tackle "Mean" Joe Greene for a replica helmet and home jersey; Greene was able to send Fry to one of the team owners, and three days later, the owners sent Fry reproduction copies of the home and away uniform of Steeler Quarterback Terry Bradshaw, making Iowa one of only a few schools to use the uniform scheme of an NFL team."
Green Bay holds the G logo trademark but I believe they permitted use of it back in the 1960's Far more of a sin than ripping off Yale in 1785
we went back and forth on the G logo iirc. Dooley took it from Green Bay and then we smoothed out the edges to make a true oval, and added the red band around it - which Green Bay then adopted
Ah that sounds right. I just was always told the 'power' G was not our original....and know I have stuff with an older 'block' G from when my grandparents were in school
yeah the original packers G was shaped like a football in green and white. Dooley smoothed out the edges and added the red around it, packers now use a similar design with gold around theirs.
