Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Dutch international centre-back Wesley Hoedt, from Lazio: https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-08-22/wesley-hoedt-signs-for-southampton
Seems like Tottenham are close to acquiring Serge Aurier for between 23-27m. Would be a huge signing.
Chelsea waiting to see how the Alex oxlade-chamberlain negotiations go. Something tells me they have their backup plan picked out and it's probably a loan or a cheaper option. City are fine at RB. United could use him but mourinho always love 2-3 weird players and Valencia seems to fit into that category. Liverpool are determined to challenge for the title with no good defenders so acquiring one doesn't fit their plan.
If Liverpool do somehow end up with VVD I think that's the signing of the season and makes them a legit title contender.
Not sure I'd be willing to go that far, but it would be a massive upgrade for us. If we bring in at least another midfielder, then I could maybe get behind title contender talk.
Supposedly his case was decided August 7th. I don't think we'd be pursuing so strongly if we had reservations on this, but who knows.
Not saying I would pick them to win. I just don't think they have a chance to win the title without a big improvement in the defense and he's the guy that can change the defense. I said a week or 2 ago that if Liverpool sell coutinho and buy VVD and a box to box mid they would be a better team. Not sure they have the money to do both without selling coutinho and I'm not sure what midfielder they could get. That's the issue. Keita would have been perfect
So 150m euros each for Coutinho and Dembele? Net loss for Barcelona if so. Teams are fleecing them but I don't think Liverpool will change their mind.
He's looked good at RWB every time I have seen him play. I know he keeps saying he wants to play CM. Is it a ploy to get out of Arsenal or will he only go somewhere he can play CM? We don't want him there for anything for than a backup.
He can't play mid for either of us or Liverpool, he thinks he's a mid but he's an idiot. He will have some amazing games at wing back and frightening in open space but will also be terrible when his meathead tendencies kick in and nothing comes off. There might be a really good player in there at wing back but we very much need to sell him rather than giving up a payday.
LFC is foolish to not take the money, especially if they get UCL today. That money can do much more for your team than Coutinho can.
Lallana injury has probably got them concerned about depth but at some point when you are offered double a players value you just have to accept that taking the bid is best for the club.
Losing him now isn't in the best interest of this season. Plus if you actually saw how the last bid was structured, you'd agree it's a terrible offer. 89 split over 5 seasons with insane addons he'll never hit. Win tonight, think we spend big in the last week of the transfer market with guaranteed group stage. Lose and it's another story.
So Barca are offering big money but structuring it in dumb ways while leaking the total to the media? God Barcelona's current board are literally the worst.
Yes, last offer was 16 mil a year over 5 seasons plus add ons if he won ballon d'or and won ballon d'or + champions league in the same season. Shit like that. We'd literally be retarded to give in and take that. If it was 138 guaranteed with a huge chunk up front, different story.
I think Liverpool is waiting to make it into the UCL Group Stages and then are going to plan to spend. The problem with this plan is that teams will know they have money to spend and a tight deadline and will ask over-the-moon amounts to which FSG will scoff and we will be no better than we are currently.
