I'm guessing the night king can handle fire, even dragon fire. It's dragon glass that will take him out.
Upon rewatch I thought of something. Less than 10 men run onto the ice (probably been frozen for a longgggg while) and it begins to crack, then falls through after a bunch of wights run onto it. Then hours or a couple days later it reforms, and is able to hold thousands of wights...
Pretty sure the Night King being near increases the cold so it likely came back thicker. If you want to complain I'd go after the Hound busting ice with the hammer.
Speaking of 10...I kept counting how many were in the party and it started with 10, then jumped to 12, and then to 13 before the Star Trek extras started getting killed off. These were wide angle walking shots so it wasn't a case of someone being out of frame or behind someone else.
yeah first time i watched i wasn't sure what was happening; i thought those were just random wildlings that were caught North of the wall
Everything about Winterfell right now is weird/bad. Arya's story about Ned watching her shoot was nice. And then she became a psycho with shit dialogue and lame conflict.
Not sure the payoff matched the manufactured drama. Could have just done the whole "trial" scene without it And then used the screen time for some Arya/Bran time.
Spoiler It would be very GRRM-like of the writers to do us like that. I would definitely have a permanent sour taste in my mouth if that's how it actually goes down. Going to move further discussion of this to the new S8 speculation thread
