Anyone think with Rickon dying in the show that the Bael the Bard story isn't meant to draw a parallel between him and Mance Rayder, but instead to show that there's a precedent for the Stark line continuing through a female?
I think people die in the show because they have 15 hours to end it and they need to cut as many non major players/storylines as possible.
Bran will continue the Stark line when he marries Lyanna Mormont and has little bad ass green seers of their own.
Lyanna mormont will demand it function and it will. You don't say no to the little bear. Also, needs to start a family rule that you do not marry southern women. They ALL suck. The north remembers.
The Three-Eyed Raven has the power to affect his One-Eyed Raven. That's not canon, but I believe it to be true.
One thing I learned in all my years watching OZ is that people who are paralyzed can indeed have function of their third leg.
What would y'all say is the most bad ass aspect of ASOIAF? The concept of the Faceless Men makes the perpetual 13 year old me go crazy.
It's pretty badass that it will never be finished. Spoiler Valyrian steal, direwolves, seasons that last decades, and all the rockin tits.
Well question was on the most bad ass aspect of the series and that is it to me, because it essentially blankets every other aspect of the series. My guess is we'd get a lot more in depth on it if we ever got another book.
Really think this is gonna happen Also think Dany (in the show) fulfills her HoTU visions by never taking the throne and dying north of the wall trying to save Westeros
I'm gonna make wild predictions for the endgames of the characters left and you guys can tell me why I'm retarded and make better ones. Dany gets the Iron throne Tyrion wifes her up; continues to serve as hand of the queen Sansa kills Littlefinger; retires to winterfell as leader of house Stark Bran continues as the 3 eyed raven for hundreds of years. Arya dies as one of the final dick punches Jaime and Cersei kill each other Theon dies saving a member of house Stark and completes his redemption arc Brienne becomes the head of the queensguard for Dany Varys double crosses Tyrion and Dany and it will make me sad I actually have no guesses for how Jon or Davos' stories might end
I know it would never happen because Ned is Ned, but what do y'all think would've happened if Joffrey had gone through with the plan to exile Ned to the Wall and Ned decided to just stop in Winterfell on his way up there and pretend like the whole thing never happened? Joffrey would've wanted to burn the entire North for sure, but could he actually mobilize an army against the wishes of Tyrion, Tywin, Varys, etc?
Joffrey would have killed Sansa. Tywin wouldn't let Joffrey attack Winterfell, but I'm sure he would have come up with a plan to terrorize Ned's bannermen and draw him out.
Yeah it would have brought ruin to everyone outside of Winterfell Ned would have cared about, and everyone outside the North would have blamed Ned personally for starting a war that engulfed the whole countryside. Not sure that's what Ned would have been going for.
Finally finished up my second reread yesterday. One thing I thought about, do you guys think Bran might see Arya training in the House of Black and White since there are Weirwood faces there? Side note - in one of the last Barristan chapters he thinks about his crush on Ashara Dayne at the Harrenhal tourney. According to Wiki of Ice and Fire Barristan would've been 45 or 46 and Ashara Dayne would've been somewhere between 12-21.
HoB&W has Weirwood faces, but not Weirwood trees, right? I don't think Bran could see just because there are faces I think he needs actual live trees. I could be wrong though.
Kind of funny to browse thru this thread a little at this point with some things confirmed or debunked by the show, with others still wished for, and some of the hot takes therein
I'm sure it's out there from other people, but I stopped reading theories a while back. However, my theory is Spoiler Dany is Jon's Nissa Nissa. Jon had dreams of himself defending the wall with a flaming sword, so he likely has to create lightbringer. And Dany still has one betrayal left, right? The way they have her seemingly fall in love with Jon in the show is what makes me think it happens. Again, probably not the first person to think that.
Aemon makes 100% more sense but the show hasn't even mentioned Aegon so they don't want to confuse dumb showfags by also calling him Aemon imo
There must be one more; I always thought that was him and Elia but now i'm a little not sure; This is assuming GRRM told D&D that Jon's real name is Aegon.
him and elia would make more sense, given the context. but there's a little chance just based off of that imo
It doesn't make any sense for him to say that line about his son Aegon born from a Dornish mother; i'm now way more convinced it's entirely about Jon.
Yeah Daenerys had a vision of what Rhaego's future would've been had he lived; so the vision above could've been of what Rhaegar's future would've been had he lived.
Not sure if this has been discussed in this thread but this Bran= NK thing is starting to grow on me. Its not completely bulletproof but some stuff makes sense. Explains most of Ep 6 and why it took so long to attack, similar to the Hodor/circular time thing, the Aerys stuff, Bran the Builder possibly also a cripple, the similarities during the creation of the NK. Good stuff starts at 7:20 One article http://time.com/4707394/game-of-thrones-old-nan-bran-stark-time-travel/
The Night King is a Brandon Stark but not ours: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Brandon_of_the_Bloody_Blade
Didn't we see the Night King being made into a White Walker? I guess I could see Bran warging into the Night King's mind, but physically he cannot be Bran.
I don't remember the scene perfectly but I thought that was just a vision on how the first WW was made. It would be a safe assumption that the first/oldest WW became the Night King but weren't the WW eventually defeated during the Long Night and some of the older WWs may have been killed? So it could be that is not the same person and the Bran=NK is still a valid theory.
The actor who played the guy being stabbed is the same actor who plays the NK. Granted, they could have just been lazy and cast the same guy for "different roles", but one would assume that he original WW is the NK since they are played by the same actor.
