Lol at Arsenal losing 70 mil for a guy who is going to leave. It's basically the equivalent of them loaning a guy for 70 mil because they are out that much money for one year of a player
if we get drinkwater over the line we have at least gotten a small amount of depth to the squad. Still the lightest in the top half of the league.
Leicester City have agreed a deal for midfielder Nampalys Mendy to join former club OGC Nice on a season-long loan deal. https://www.lcfc.com/news/464882/mendy-joins-ogc-nice-on-loan/press-release
Right. There aren't many clubs that are just foreign direct investment, external to the club's intrinsic revenue streams. There are far more opposing it and it's in their best interests to neutralize it
I think you can blame this stupid transfer market on the failure of Rex Tillerson and the administration to mediate and mend relations between Qatar and the UAE Saudi et al. Because of their stupid goddamn blockade and public tiff we get Qatar buying every fucking young player for hundreds of millions of dollars as an act of soft-power and the UAE countering in-kind. Or just a ton of tv money. Probably the tv money.
Which sucks, b/c if the PSG/City types aren't able to spend like crazy it'll only be the established big clubs that can. I'll always be team PSG b/c it's more exciting for the sport.
Sky Sports News understands Leicester will only complete the Adrien Silva deal, IF Danny Drinkwater leaves for Chelsea before tonight's 11pm deadline. At the moment, negotiations with Chelsea are ongoing, but the Premier League champions are still some way short of Leicester's valuation of the player.
Right. And eventually the cost-benefit analysis will change for even them. For Man City/PSG/Milan, these are initial outlays necessary to build a competitor and brand. In the future they will operate more sensibly and develop stronger youth setups, smarter buys, etc. They're in the startup phase, basically.
So, when midnight in Britain comes and goes, even though Spain has ~24 hours left, they can't grab those players out of England? Or they can?
I doubt he's had a real training session since May so that wouldn't surprise me. He's just been sitting on his ass for quite a while now. Barkley would be pretty much the perfect midfielder if he had Kante shadowing him to win the ball back immediately to negate the 20 times per match he loses possession.
I will say this, despite obviously being completely in control of their own destiny, Chelsea really bottled this one.
