Doesn't matter where I've lived, the corner store/deli/bodega is always one of my favorite spots. God forbid we have human interaction and support our small biz community. The blatant repackaging of old ideas is tried as fuck. Marketing does wonders to folks and I'm as guilty as any for falling for it. I won't ever support this bullshit though. I love my bodegas.
Your post somehow reminded me of this: https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/08/why-cant-this-soap-dispenser-identify-dark-skin/
If you're friendly with the bodeguero they will give you the low down on everyone in the neighborhood.
Hell of a way to prove you aren't a cuck, Mooch. I'm sure it will help establish a healthy relationship with your son you were too busy to see born.
"Customers unlock a nearby box with an app, then have their credit cards automatically charged as they take items off the shelves and past "cameras powered with computer vision." As time goes by, Bodega will be able to analyze each box's most popular items and restock based on a community's individual needs." This 'bodega' thing sounds like a rebranded version of Amazon Go. http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-go-grocery-store-future-photos-video-2017-6 So basically that but implementing automation. Ugh.
I honestly don't think his base will even care...they'll just do a 180 and pretend like it's what they wanted all along and that it's only going to help the 'good ones'. It's not like they have a rigorous ideology besides worshipping this alpha numbnuts.
also "22 VETERANS COMMIT SUICIDE EVERY DAY!!" and "pray for _he blue" _ because half the time its not a "t"
Bodega robots are simply just another example of evolution and progress. Every business model gets disrupted and the workers displaced. That's what America has always been about. Doesn't mean it's good. Sucks tho when the thing getting killed is the thing you like and want to keep the same.
So what you're saying it's a form of technology that's displacing workers. Agreed. Service level has relative meaning to each person. Some will like it, some won't. As with any progress or new system, etc.
i think it's a stretch to call downloading yet another app on my $600 smartphone so i can buy a 75 cent bag of skittles progress
The fight over the "soul" of the Republican party is being fought over whether or not deporting mostly hispanic kids brought this country when they were around 6 years old helps rebuild the idea of America.
Depends on your perspective. Biggest surprise is it took this long for someone to propose it. I used to love spending hours in bookstores. Or browsing through records at the record store and talking to the clerks about the latest releases. Things got killed, they lost their jobs. I understand how it feels, when it's meaningful and you think it provides a better service, but it goes away in the name of progress or technology. Sorry.
That they agree on. All of the race whistles, warmongering, abortion restrictions, personal responsibility hokum, religious liberty nonsense, and getting so very hot and bothered at the idea of two boys kissing, is how they get votes for cutting the corporate tax rate.
But the best shoe stores are the ones where they lay out all the boxes so you don't need a salesman following you around. Zappos and similar sites are also pretty good since they make returns easy. Killing the traditional shoe store is one thing I always fully supported. Sucks for the shoe store people. They used to be able to make a decent living if they were on commission. You could buy a house and have a middle class life as a shoe salesman, imagine that.
I don't need anyone to help me in a shoe store other than checking if they check to see if they have a certain shoe in my size in stock in the back. Most of the shoe stores I've been to have just normal retail stock type guys, and not like used car salesman that stalk you to get commission.
What do you mean by 'Sorry'? Saying ''Sorry' isn't going to be an acceptable answer when shit hits the fan and there are no jobs.
the corner store will forever live on because they can sell beer they have nothing to fear until vending machines start carrying 12 packs
I bet this is the moment the GOP addresses the fact that its "base" has only coalesced around racism, xenophobia, and bigotry.
The hard right won't abandon Trump until the bitter end. They will have their moments of peak. But they will get their talking points email in the morning and blame Ryan, or whomever. They've tried to build a of cult of personality around a deeply insecure and particularly irrational and stupid/demented demagogue. Mostly because he makes libs like me mad as hell. Tomorrow will be worse.
