There's a ton of qb's that look like future All-Americans on tape that flame out in college but for a sophomore tape, he looks pretty damn solid:
We give out a lot of awards to student athletes each game at halftime, but we suck at pretty much everything. Does not compute.
I really don't get the point of inviting mass recruits to sure blowout games. The crowd wasn't even good today.
huge news..doucore is immediately eligible. all of the sudden its the youth movement season for the big men.
Not a big loss imo, but the optics of a 2nd decommit in a couple days def hurts. Chambers is also a guy idgaf that he decommited. I'd rather have a 30% shot at Sitkowski than take Chambers
I really see 0 downside in starting gio. Both him and bolin can act as human meatshields to take the hits for Lewis and gio is bigger and runs better. We saw it. In an actual game. Does this come down to a pride issue? Cause I'm starting to wonder how far Ash's head is up his own ass. Either gio fails and finally shuts the fanbase the fuck up, or he succeeds and makes the team seem like we have SOME progress/hope. The success now is more important than fans whining about how gio should've started game one with perfect 20/20 hindsight.
heard a little of coach pikiell on the radio. how can you not root for that guy? he has the chance to be an all-time great at Rutgers.
if you have a half hour to kill and want to see what goes on in our coach's head when he is drawing up plays:
Having mamadou back..Johnson, mamadou, Shaq with a minor serving of sa..we have enough bodies at center that the sky stopped falling this year. The most important thing, to me, is having mamadou work a full year with Jay young. That guy is electric and knows how to build serviceable big men. I'm afraid he'll have a new job next year though..and that 2-3 of our assistants will
Loving those who don't like the extension (just a few knuckleheads)..there is no reason to keep a proven fundraising monster dangling in the wind for another school to easily pick him off. This isn't like a HC. Hobbs earned the money he will be paid and earned enough to make a state of the art basketball facility on the side. It's not like Hobbs is magically gonna forget how to be charismatic. He's just got the "it" factor.
we have seen several "high flying" point guards come and go. kwe parker and bishop daniels come to mind. both terrible at basketball. i think mcclung is better than both of those guys, but i havent been able to shake the fear that he will turn into another point guard that lacks the handles and the stroke to play the position effectively. i dont need the shortest guy on the court trying to get to the rim all the time... that being said, not sure where things go from here, but i trust pikiell and co have a plan b.
Peeking to next years roster this AM...predicting the following guys won't be here in 2018 -Gio -Heeman -Hogan -Russell -Margolis -Marfo -Blunt -Harris -Taylor -Manning Think we will sign 25 on NSD, maybe add 2 grad trfs and maybe give a ship to a walk on. I have been tracking scholarships since 2013 and if you look at the progression, Flood's classes literally look like a tumor growing YOY. Good news is the roster starts looking stable next year.
Crazy but barmore picked up Florida and Georgia offers..he would be arguably the best get of the class. Its his first year of football right?
Cause he's better at baseball?? Idk - I thought they had an agreement that football was supposed to be the priority, but what's it matter if you ride the bench for football collecting a scholarship and killing it in baseball?
He's not THAT good at baseball though. .269/.377/.468 in the Big Ten won't get you a sniff from the majors. Maybe he'll be a pinch running specialist who plays because his team sucks like Billy Hamilton or Rajai Davis, that's the best case scenario. It's a different game because of the metal bats. The Toddfather hit .377/.502/.757 here, so extrapolate accordingly.
I believe he has been suspended at times by both baseball and football. He was a high character kid in HS (chose us over Princeton) so Idk what his deal is. Wish he would get his head out of his ass but maybe he is planning on declaring for the baseball draft next summer and is mentally checked out. From what I have been told, there is still a lot of upperclassmen cancer still on the team.
True. I just feel like he thinks he can make it as a steal specialist. It's disheartening but unsurprising to hear there are still some floodtards Fucking shit up. I don't get it. Olde queens is open all semester and it gets sluttier as the year goes on. Can't you chill for 3 months??
Sucks we couldn't keep Isaiah Wright or Taysir Mack from that 2016 class. Both are having really strong seasons and would almost certainly be starting here this year
And Frazier wasn't exactly well thought of when he first came up. He needed to get lucky and have time at third along with a Joey votto injury to get more playing time at 1st and then he got his shot. Harris better hope that he can hit above 270 at all levels. Anything else for a speed guy (maybe he can start hitting a bunch of homers but he doesn't exactly have the build to be that type of player) and he's just gonna be a garbage prospect on a team.
I've always thought Sanders seemed like a douche but this renewed my fandom for him and made me realize...he's OUR douche
Not sure what you're referring to. Frazier was conference player of the year, was an AA, and went in the supplemental first round. There were some mixed opinions of him as a potential pro, but the consensus was he was a very good prospect. Harris is the definition of a fringe guy.
Frazier just didn't seem to get the big billing..he came up quickly, wasn't like he had a chance to hit a top 100 prospect list so I guess I never really thought of him like that. Fair enough, i just thought he was drafted lower. And I didn't mention college..I knew he had the accolades there.
It’s gonna be tough to replace Anderson and lacewell with anything worth a ship. Gonna have to see how coaching fallout goes at the end of the season
