I'll be across the street noodling with the wookies at Mohawk for Papadosio anyone else see that they setup the Barton Springs stage across the damn street on the barton springs side??? whaaaa... I don't see how that's gonna work with re-entry and re-checking bags it sounds like a huge hassle. Only have 1 show on the agenda at that stage and probably gonna see something else to not deal with that ordeal
Well ended up doing pretty damn well on the trip IMO. Spent a lot more time with a couple co-workers than I thought. One being our CFO so got a lot of free shit. Sunday - got into town. Walked to Easy Tiger for sandwich and a beer. Then walked to the Capitol and then down by the river. Crossed over Lamar St bridge and looped back around Monday - conference all day, but went to Elephant Room and Roosevelt Room for drinks once that got out. Great stuff at Roosevelt and the Gary Clark Jr painting on the wall was fantastic. Then did dinner at Uchiko. What an incredible meal. Then went down to The Continental Club to watch Dale Watson play some classic honky tonk/Texas country for cheap. Great show. Tuesday - ditched the shitty lunch the hotel was providing at this conference and walked over to Gus’ Fried Chicken and we sampled just about everything. All really well done. Hit Roosevelt Room again before going down to Rainey St for dinner. Ultimately chose Graj Mahal and was pleased. Hopped on over to Emo’s and caught Vulfpeck. Got my CFO hooked on them. Today - half day at conference so we all left around noon and went to la Barbecue and only had to wait about an hour. Got a little bit of everything - beef rib, 1/2 lb brisket, 1/2 lb pulled pork, sausage link, pickles, slaw, potato salad, special mac. Wow what a meal. The brisket and beef rib were incredibly tender. Hell of a trip
gaddamn son. sorry we never got the club together for drinks few of us did ACL for 3 days last weekend I didn't feel normal til around 7pm yesterday. thought about going to that Vulfpeck show but chose PUNCHshow standup night at CCC because my friend was headlining. highly recommend to anyone ITT that likes the haha. pretty small venue when they do it on the bar side
dad, me, and younger brother ate I think ~$75 worth of LA BBQ the day after I moved here. Was our first real BBQ and we were like kids in a candy store. fast forward 20 minutes to 3 people snoring in my apartment, waking up 3 hours later, and still not being able to move for another couple hours.
Yeah that spread ran about $75 without costs of the beers we had between 3 people. I felt sleepy the rest of the day. It did help me sleep on the plane later that afternoon though. You know how bbq makes you feel slightly disgusting after eating it? Your hands smell. Your clothes smell. You question your self control. I felt that way even when I finally got home and was still burping up the flavors from that lunch at about 9pm last night. But it was totally worth it.
We MLSn in 2019? http://www.dispatch.com/sports/20171016/crew-sc-owner-considering-moving-team-to-austin-texas
Punchshow on tuesday nights at Cap City 2/2 the last two weeks on every comedian being fuckin great. Matt Bearden the host is funny as shit too. did a 5 minute bit last night on "the wheels on the bus" being a nightmarish bus ride. It was amazing. Could nominate this place as a TMB social spot
Craftsman showcase on monday was meh as can be. one guy got me to laugh a few times but the other 3 were just... not good bob.
I didn't check tmb before but I do think I saw a guy in an Auburn polo briefly before it started. Sorry I didn't say hi. We played like asshole. You're welcome for the sleeve of Pro-V1's. That was all me.
Glad you didn’t come in here saying your team was the group that posted the 49 We shot -17 but didn’t buy any mulligans or hand grenades because our firms partner had to see a client at the last minute and wouldn’t give us his credit card. Pretty cool LSU guy played with us... after we got done discussing last weeks game tenderly
Yea a couple of guys in my group were crying foul but they didn't know what a hand grenade was and thought it counted as your shot... nah not that hard to eagle a few par 4s when you can take a 2nd shot that ends ~5-10 feet from the hole and just roll it in with your hand for an eagle. doubt anyone actually cheated in that tourney just bc I don't remember there being any actual prizes apart from the alumni guys competing for a trophy. I generally avoid non-charity scrambles, especially if they give cash prizes, because people are pieces of shit
one of our partners has to work on something unexpected tomorrow so I got to take his place in the Capital Area Dental Foundation tourney at Avery Ranch in the morning. Gonna be cold and windy but they serve plenty of booze so who cares. Beats working. Also probably about to see if any of Gibson Bar, Highball, or The Cedar Tavern are hiring and bartend during tax season. Might even start after Thanksgiving if I can. Never go out from Jan-April anyways and going home after work to play xbox or watch TV 6 days a week is dumb when I could be: A) making good money bc all 3 of those places attract the crowd that knows how to tip / expects to pay a lot when drinking there B) networking with people to try and get tax/bookkeeping clients in hopes of going into working as contract instead of on salary at a firm (probably a few years away from this but that's my 5-year plan). lots of young folks in the startup game in the 704 that would probably be more comfortable with a CPA with 10 years experience and isn't 50+ years old on down the list of reasoning: C) the girls at all 3 of these places are 25-40 year old beautiful babies. And I live within 50 yards of all 3 bars.
Sup Haunted bar crawl tomorrow. Omni + Rainey + potentially East 6th (was hoping for south congress hotel 1st thursday) ??? Friday Trans Am race saturday with an ex FWB from out of town Domain Sunday funday LMK if any folks are doin the same. --- The tmb atx social thing never went through, doesnt seem people are too keen on meeting up but HMU if anyone decides to get over the awkwardness.
TLAU remember your friend we hung with? Does he still do digital mktg as a career? my company is hiring and he said he disliked his current role
might be down to clown on friday. got an early morning and potential date, with a fellow Aubbie I matched with on the bumbles, to the AU-A&M game at 11 in college station. driving back afterwards no clue what to do when we get back was gonna do wurstfest this weekend but looking like that may be next week been needing to check out domain on a sunday. if i don't get too fucked up saturday, which is actually a good chance I don't bc a few of my boys are all out of town or busy, I'm up for a domain NFL day. might have a date to that too...
PM me the name of the company and I'll pass it along and see if he wants me to connect you two. He definitely hates his job he's a yes man and people love dumping 2+ hour projects on him at 4:30 in the afternoon. really hard worker though
coming to visit family over christmas. always a full house so going to get a hotel. prefer SPG properties and saw they have an aloft/element downtown. anyone been? seems like a prime location
I work directly across the street. The restaurant and bar they have are really good. Brand new hotel.
Girl I know that lives at LU posted this on FB "Hey guys don't mind the tear gas. Gym still open tho!" SWAT team tried to serve a warrant to some dude shacked up with his girlfriend and they decided to tough it out and hunker down. Had a good view from across the street safe from said tear gas. Megaphone Susie got a little riled up after warning #8
I haven't seen anywhere that released the reason for the warrant or the guys name. It was a 4.5 hour long ordeal. Went home for lunch from 1:30-2:30 and they were pulling up to start the process when I was leaving for work. Got back after work at 6 and SWAT team was there with like 7 more vehicles and a lot of spectators.
god i hope not. they were arresting the dude for an outstanding warrant at first. I think SWAT got called in when they declined the invitation to come out in a civil manner
Hahaha Thanks brah. I am a very lucky man. I will continue to live vicariously through the Tinder thread. Thank you for doing God's work
