Microtransactions that are ok: cosmetic only and anything in ftp Microtransactions that arent ok: everything else
Micro transactions don’t affect me at all because I don’t play Barbie dream house on my video games. Give me franchise mode or exhibition mode and I’m set. I have never made it further than the first game in any MyPlayer mode in any game.
there are thousands of games that aren't sports games that are directly impacted by them but as far as sports games go, i couldn't agree more
It's disgusting. Seems like everyone at activision has been doing damage control acting like they will never implement it but it's legit how they've behaved every single time they've had similar complaints with MT and in the end they always implement what everyone feared they would. Activision can essentially come to everyone's house and murder their families and COD, Destiny, Overwatch, WoW, Hearthstone and any other gigantic franchise they have will still fly off the shelves. They need to be stopped
i mean, that can be implemented into about zero activision games i play, so i don't care. if i played cod or hearthstone i might care.
Currently it wouldn't effect Destiny but it certainly could in the future. I can't imagine being ok with this
Meh they'll fix what's wrong with D2 as it goes just like they did D1. It's a bit disheartening that they basically hit the reset button on everything they accomplished with D1 tho I'll 100% and totally agree

https://kotaku.com/ea-cuts-star-wars-battlefront-ii-hero-costs-after-wides-1820410057 EA cuts the prices for SWB2 heroes by 75% proof that if enough players and people call companies out on their bullshit we can fight this microtransaction rampage or at least lessen the blow.
This is good stuff in retrospect https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/games-to-be-excited-about-2015.121300/ -Thinking EA might not fuck over consumers in any way possible to make some extra $
The best part of EA's defense of the crazy unlock time is the "We want unlocks to be rewarding and compelling to attain." Yeah, spending a shit load of time earning something other people will just buy instantly is so rewarding. They might as well just try literally feeding people bullshit.
It's actually really important that people don't buy this game. If sales aren't hurt badly enough for using pay to win mechanics in a full priced game, that's going to become the norm and we're going to see it in tons of other games. It's already bad enough that 2k18 was such a huge success.
its already the norm and this game will probably sell just fine. the angry redditers is a very small group when you look at gamers in general. i wish EA would hurt over this but i really doubt that they will.
Nah, pay to win is the norm in free to play games, which is fine. Pay to win in full priced AAA games is new, and is bullshit.
Micro transactions are in every new AAA game. Call of duty, Need for speed, Assasins creed, Destiny 2, Madden, Fifa etc etc etc. Maybe its not strictly pay to win but neither is this.
The vast majority of those things are either cosmetic or very small advantages. These are significant gameplay-affecting advantages on another level.
Maybe idk i’m not watching a 25 minutw video. but I think you’ll be very disappointed if you think this train is stopping. I hope i’m wrong but they’re making bank on micro transactions so i doubt they give two fucks, it’ll only get worse.
Go to 1:55 and watch for 30 seconds I don't think the train is stopping, and it sucks. I agree with your last statement. That's the whole reason people need to not buy this, even though I don't expect they will.
https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2017/10/15/16478458/loot-box-microtransactions-legality-uk It is gambling and an addiction. Watch the South Park episode on microtransactions it is spot on
Usually it's kids gambling with their parents money as well. The other issue is that now that companies have their foot in the door with this stuff, they're going to push the envelope further and further by withholding more and more content, and punishing players more and more for not spending extra money. The gaming industry is headed down a really shitty, consumer-fucking path, and unfortunately nothing short of an inordinate amount of people refusing to buy these games (won't happen) or legislation will stop it.
That really sucks. Even if all I'm playing are Mario and rocket league. Sky force anniversary is fun. I didn't buy 2k because of the VC. And looks like I'm in passing on star wars too.
I mean loot boxes like RL and Overwatch have at it, but anything that isn't cosmetics should never be available as microtransactions.
I never understood why people continued to buy NCAA football when it became so obviously bad and I’ll never understand why people will still buy this shit
Ncaa was never as "obviously bad" as people acted like. People expected EA to revolutionize the game each time and thats simply not possible when a game is released every year (see: cod, all sports games). Honestly sports games were perfected long ago. No reason to expect more than a reskin each year.
I agree. The 'bad' thing about it was paying that same $50-$60 a year for basically a reskin. Of course enough people bought it, so...
I'd almost hate to see the state of ncaa now. Nothing but ultimate team i'm sure. Despite 14 having the best dynasty mode they clearly stopped caring about it once UT came along.
Not SMITE, which imo, is the GOAT free to play game. I have spent plenty of money on that game and all of their paying options are cosmetic unless you want to spend $30 to unlock all of the gods and future gods. I wish all games would take notes from them.
I play dota and it's the same way but they give you everyone for free too. (And the game makes a shitload of money)
