The Witcher 3 is such a singular exceptional game, that does everything you want in a game and does them well. I don't know if I'll ever play something like it again except Cyberpunk when it comes out. Soooooo good.
What about Final Fantasy XV? I've never played a game in that series, but it looks gorgeous and it's a really acclaimed franchise.
Just found out the other day that you can get rid of that greenish gas with Aard instead of Igni, no explosions that accidentally fuck you up.
I could see them turning to another project within that universe, but I think stories with Geralt as the protagonist are probably done.
FF15 is doodoo IMO. I haven't really loved a FF since X. Could be a product of my age and how fucking long it took SE to release the past few.
I hated 12. I thought that 10 was the perfect move forward for a series that relied on ATB forever and the battle system was a perfect balance for fans and then they flat out abandoned it. Plus Auron > than every FF character that ever existed sans Kefka
Same. I really did not like the gambit system. Hymn of the Fayth is tight. I wish they hadn't removed the open world though. My only complaint really. I liked flying the airships around.
So XV isn't worth it? That's a shame, screenshots look nice. Was hoping it would fill the hole TW3 left.
It's a good/decent game, but doesn't scratch my Final Fantasy itch like I wanted. Certainly worth a shot if you can get it on sale.
I really didn't like FFXV at all. The more open combat was good but the car travel shit was unbearable.
The northern kingdoms in the books are a lot bigger than just what the games have covered I pray for a spin off with Ciri
It's really cool to see the material CDPR drew upon for the games but the earlier books do not translate very well and lead to some slow, clunky reading
Cyberpunk 2077 was announced 4 years ago and still no real meaty news on it. I think anything at this point would cause an explosion in my pants
Delays on a game are almost always a good thing Give them time to polish, especially for what I assume will be an open world
I'm not mad at all and they can take 10 years for all I care because I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Just saying that I'd love some news on it just to hold me over
CDPR is becoming the Rockstar mold where they give zero fucks about feeling obligated to appear at conventions and conferences.
for those looking to fill the Witcher 3 void, i fired up Divinity: Original Sin 2 recently. it's the first RPG game i've played where the depth and world building is on par with TW3. has great reviews, hoping it can live up to the hype. gameplay is very different (party-based, top-down isometric, turn based strategy combat), but art, world detail, and writing is comparable. it feels 'alive' thread on it here: https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/divinity-original-sin-2-best-rpg-ever.170217/
i use an XB1 controller on the PC version. the games been fully optimized for controller play (XB1 or PS4 specific) out of the box bc there is co-op mode, so i don't doubt a port is coming.
$20 on steam and GoG today. I kop’d. Wish me luck boys, heard nothing but amazing things about this game.
Installed, aaaaaand I look up and suddenly it’s midnight, 5 hours later. I’m avoiding all major spoilers and I’m just gonna playthrough at my own pace, but should I be selling all my “junk” or dissembling intoncrafting stuff? Like wolf pelts and random silver stuff I loot?
Whenever you craft witcher gear, don't sell it, you need it to craft the next version of the same armor.
Loot every god damn crafting material you can get your hands on, they don't count against your inventory weight. Play Gwent.
Game is ridiculously good and I’m only on the second area. Once you do that castle meeting with Yen it feels like the game just opens wide up.
im jealous of you guys, playing for the first time. it's just the best. take your time is the best piece of advice i can give you. turn off the sub-titles in the cut scenes and watch them like a good TV show. the voice acting is superb.
Its definitely the best game of this generation, for me at least, nothing else is that close (although Zero Dawn was really good). I'd recommend after you beat the game getting both DLC's (Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine)
Bloodborne is definitely in the discussion here although I don't blame anyone for saying TW3 is better
The GotY edition was $20 on steam this week and had all dlc with it. Much “bigger” and deeper than Skyrim and the combat is in a different class, although I like Skyrim better in some aspects.
I just replayed skyrim and i cant think of one thing from skyrim i prefer over Witcher but maybe thats just me.
