Yeah there didn't seem to be much reason to not be a hunter and run around with a pistol. Also wtf, I didn't realize this wasn't out for so long after the beta.
my suspicion is that a lot of people were playing with aim assist on. i was getting dropped in the time it took me to scope and shoot a few rounds.
Sounds like aim assist isn't as helpful as you would think (you're forced to have shitty mouse movement instead of 1 to 1): http://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-beta-players-are-testing-aim-assist-exploits-on-mouse-and-keyboard/ I definitely think it should be eliminated from the PC version though, will only cause paranoia if nothing else.
the only thing i'm really concerned about with destiny on pc is destiny can be played in a way that is about 70% third person hack and slash which isn't so great on mouse and keyboard
it's not really a way you play pvp and i'm just guessing even on pc controllers will be fine for pve, so yeah it shouldn't be a big deal. just something i've noticed playing with a mouse on ps4.
We are inside a month. I’m still spoiler free haha. Any tips for new players who are starting the game for the first time? Also things console players have picked up on? I’ve read that you should keep certain ingrams until a certain level or some such?
some gear and leveling tips 1. whites, greens, and blues can be deleted freely. (the blue ballyhoo hand cannon is actually going to be crazy good for pvp on m/kb so maybe not that until you get a good purple hc) 2. don't delete purple weapons unless you get duplicates or you KNOW the gun sucks. nothing worse than a bad initial impression causing you to throw away the best pve hand cannon, for example 3. learn the infusion system and how legendary mods impact that 4. additional copies of exotics can be acquired at any point, so you can use them as infusion fuel if it benefits you. 5. don't do things that reward "powerful gear" until as close to power level 265 as possible. they may be renamed "luminous engrams" or something by the time of pc release 6. no need to hold on to engrams once you get them, level of the gear is decided when it's dropped
If you're looking to play this game casually, it's gonna be a fun ride. If you're looking for a game that's gonna keep you occupied with a ton of end game content and reasons to get onand grind it out like D1, Borderlands or any mmo out there, you're gonna be supremely disappointed. The casual won the Destiny war
whatever, fucking bought it anyway. i know enough people irl playing so whatever. don't want to talk about it. odin#11190
I still prefer a joystick for regular movement instead of WASD and am using a G13 to do that, but the mouse control is so much more fluid and intuitive to use, even compared to using a XIM4 on ps4. The game feels/moves so much quicker. Playing on a GSync at 144 FPS is incredible.
Yeah the game is great so far. I’m sitting at level 13 and about to finish the Io quests. I turned vsync off with my 144hz monitor and sometimes my frames get up to 160s. I’m running an old GTX780 TI Superclocked but she’s more than holding her own.
See the insane drama that masses of PC users are being instantly banned? http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/10...orting-mass-bans-and-no-one-has-explained-why And Bungie refuses to admit it's happening. Also Bungie made the game not work on certain AMD processors when it worked on them for the beta. What a disaster of a release.
also, I haven't gotten to the point yet where I can claim my clan or whatever, but bungie.net seems to have me still in TMB clan under my battle.net login, so we may just end up in the same one as ps4.
Nope, anyone with half a brain can see all of the feedback spewed across the web and realize there was an issue with Bungie's anti-cheat. I lost a lot of respect for them in how they handled this, just throwing their customers under the bus. They just sent out this update to their statement: "Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game." Like duh, who could have known that huge amount of people being banned the first day could have been an error.
It's about how they treat everyone during that time. Their reaction was to call everyone a liar, say everyone's cheating, have no process for appeals, etc. They could have easily said that they're looking into it, then after fixing it this fast everyone would be happy. Not to mention that something like this would have been easily found during the beta, so big fuck-up on their dev team for all the release issues.
clearly they have a working review process for all bans. going to pc for a console dev is likely horrifying because of all of the cheating that has to be dealt with. they're new to it. stop being a petty fuck and enjoy the game or ask for a refund.
I didn't get banned and am enjoying them game, I'm just passionate after having to read through hoards of idiots online and being a software dev I have high standards for quality especially in areas like this. Nothing wrong with having a false positive from time to time, just don't be so arrogant about it and hang your customers out to dry.
it's bungie style to issue one statement then basically say nothing at all until they have a fix. kind of sucks, they're never good at community interaction.
i've landed more sniper headshots in crucible in the 2 days on pc than i have total in my 3+ years on ps4
Ok PC guys give me some advice since I know absolutely dick about pc gaming. I have several thousand hours in D1 and a 305 character of every class for D2 but the videos on pc look too good for me to not at least play around with it. I’ve recently bought a gaming laptop (for an oculus) and it appears to be plenty spec wise. For reference it is an Asus ROG w/ 7th Gen i7-7700, 12 gb ram, and a gtx 1060. My main question is that from reading the thread and various articles there appears to be approximately 1 million different graphics settings and I don’t know what any of them mean. Vsync, gsync, anti aliasing, all Greek to me. From reading it appears I can run 1080 p on the highest settings but do I need to mess with any of the options to get the best experience.
Also, and I acknowledge this is probably a real basic question, but do you map supers and stuff to a gaming mouse or is that keyboard controlled.
I have a i7 6850k, 32 gb ram, and an 8gb 1070. I'm getting about 90-160 fps in 1440p with everything on low. Honestly, game looks incredible even on low.
You can do whatever. I have melee and swap weapon on my mouse while my roommate has reload and crouch.
Another stupid question, if the display on that laptop is 1080p is there any reason to try and run 1440? Again, I’ve done exactly zero pc gaming so if anybody wants to get real basic and ELI5 feel free.
I have zero issues with Bungie reacting that way. They had a lot of cheating in the Beta and was probably a little presumptuous. If any of those devs, played The Division on PC then that probably added to it. They figured out they made a mistake and are fixing it. I think it ended up scanning the users PC and banning anyone who had any kind of registry or code changing software unrelated to the game. I would chalk that up to not touching anything PC wise since Halo 1’s port in 2003 which actually I think Microsoft did exclusively with their own guys so really just inexperience. It is what it is. As for your laptop Rebelution , it should run the game fine. I’m pretty close to using standard key mapping because it’s close to other games I’ve played. I’m going to remap dodge though to mouse 3 or some such. “V” is too close to “C”. Vsync will cap your frames at whatever the refresh rate your laptop monitor is. I would turn vsync off. You’re not going to mess anything up by playing with the settings though. Turn your ingame FPS counter on though to track them. One of the things I’ve noticed is some FPS lag in game even though my FPS counter states otherwise. It’s a constant for a lot of PC players after 2-4 hours of gameplay. The only postulated theory I’ve seen that makes sense is that it is only happening to people with the game installed on an SSD and happens after you fast travel a lot. With the SSD, the theory is that your fast travel happens so fast, the game doesn’t recognize it and so it happens in perpetuity. After this stacked 10,20,30 times, it causes lag. It happened to me after 3-4 hours yesterday afternoon. Last night I didn’t fast travel at all and didn’t notice any lag.
not possible for you to run 1440 with a 1080 display. find out where you display maxes out (i guess 60 fps since it's a laptop?) and use the highest settings that will keep your fps above that.
This is the benchmark test for the laptop, this would mean the FPS isn’t capped right? It looks like they are getting like 200 (albeit on low settings). So I should be able to run it at high/highest setting and keep it above 60 I think.
Just finished the main story as a hunter. Still can’t figure out/barely use dodge. Do I just suck at dodge or does it suck?
Ways to fix it Add aoe to the reload mechanic and the invis mechanic so it effects teammates Add a 3 second precision damage buff Put the melee CD one on a roulette so you have a chance to either proc melee, nade or another roll YW Bungie pay me
I think the pvp would be awesome if they turned off supers, made grenades half the damage, and had some way to counter play swords. Like if someone is being lit up they shouldn't be able to just run through it and one hit you with a sword. The gun play feels crisp and awesome, it's just overshadowed by the 1 click skill-less kills from everything else.
Yeah there’s no tether aside from a super. I think knock back would be good. There’s really no counter to a sword though.
