I imagine this thread will be me talking to myself somewhat I actually liked the representation of the Klingons, minus the leftover attire from The Cell with Jennifer Lopez. The Federation has apparently had minimal contact with them for 100 years, so they should seem foreign. I thought the contrast between Klingon ships apparently built for war and Federation ships apparently built for exploration was well done. The dramatic camera angles can go away ASAP, though. There are other ways of indicating danger than tilting the camera 30 degrees.
I thought the first two episodes were decent. I just didn't like any of the Federation characters. Like at all. That's simply not how any type of military unit operates, especially with how they treat subordinates and/or superiors. Hopefully I will like it more when they bring in the real cast.
Is Discovery about Section 31 from DS9? If it's a black ops ship it might explain why they go to "Black Alert" You should watch Ep 3 first. I never watched DS9 so this video helped.
They've all been good. I really like the mix of action with other normal scenes. Feels much more modern than previous shows.
cbs all-access is shit. it kept freezing and rewinding while i was watching the episode, so i got it through other means. show is good though. Spoiler i knew the admiral was fucked as soon as she said she was going to make lorca step down. the revelation about spock was cool as well.
What nights does it air? Have just banged out the first 6 episodes but they’ve been on Crave TV, an on demand network up here. Usually they broadcast a day or two later.
new episodes are released sunday nights on cbs all-access in the u.s. i think canada has some other deal. the rest of the world gets netflix :/
Enjoyed that episode quite a bit, despite the fact it was pretty dumb they had him hail Stella instead of Starfleet or a phantom call, since he definitely committed tons of crimes against the Federation during his stint. Also, there is a really good theory floating out there about Tyler. I'm going to put the link in spoilers because the evidence is pretty overwhelming it's true, and the link title gives it away. Spoiler https://trekmovie.com/2017/10/18/st...-theory-analysis-is-lt-tyler-the-klingon-voq/
Re: Ash Tyler Spoiler I've seen that stuff about him. I really hope that's not going to be the case, because a swerve like that isn't very Trek-ish and if it ends up coming out that way, it's been teased so much (he "fights like a Klingon," the fact that he doesn't vaporize L'Rell, Voq having to give up "everything" in light of T'Kuvma's speeches about becoming Klingon again or whatever, Voq disappearing from the episodes right when Tyler comes in, etc.) that imo it would be a let down.
Spoiler I think the evidence is pretty overwhelming he is Voq, and there are instances of things like happening in classic Trek episodes. I also subscribe to the idea he's a sleeper agent and actually believes he is Tyler, especially with L'Rell saying Voq would have to give up "everything."
this week's episode was a steaming pile of crap. it's like they cut 10 minutes out of it. 41 minute runtime for a streamed show is bullshit as well
I liked that episode tbh. Haven’t seen last nights show yet. But I agree 41 minutes sucks, but maybe they are preparing for a jump to cable tv?
It certainly seems possible. I'm waiting for the I.S.S. Discovery to roll up on our heroes in the debris field.
I’m not sure either, but the fact he was the only survivor of his ship (along with some of his other shady actions) lead me to believe it’s definitely possible. Especially with the show runners admission the mirror universe would be a factor in the show.
the stuff with admiral cornwall would make sense. she mentioned some other times they had been together and he didn't seem to know what she was talking about.
Yes. She specifically said “You are not the man I remember,” or something along those lines. Plus screenshots made it apparent he altered the jump location at the last second. Lorca is not a good guy.
It's pretty different from typical Trek stuff but I do like it. It adds a layer of suspense that isn't usually in there. The mirror universe stuff is awesome.
