My oldest friend who is a huge UT fan’s response: “Not saying it couldn’t be true, but if Schiano is introduced, it’ll make Chizik’s arrival at Auburn look like a garden party”
Not sure I get the Schiano hate. Is it a homerun hire, no, but given the amount of job openings, Tennessee wasn't going to hit a homerun.
I’ll be curious to see if he goes pro style or spread after being with Meyer for these last few years.
Tennessee fans will hate the hire until some of the potential staff gets leaked. Then he'll have the presser and they'll like him. Then he'll steal a recruit from someone and pretend they wanted him all along. Then articles about him "changing the culture" will come out and they'll defend him to the death. This is how this shit works with every fan base.
Grant Ramey Two-deep (5278) 27 months 3 minutes agoVIP Reply Quote This is what I was told yesterday about Schiano: Currie went around to a few UTAD personnel seeking feedback on a handful of candidates. Schiano was one of those candidates. And the feedback was unanimously awful. So if Schiano is the hire ... I don't know how any of this adds up. Seems impossible based on stuff we've been told.
“The country club atmosphere is over.” “He’s weeding out the troublemakers that didn’t want to work hard.” “The defense is going to be simpler and more attacking - pressuring the QB like crazy.”
He is the number 1 or 2 ranked recruiter right now. He is a DC at Ohio State with back to back top 10 defenses. He has all the experience. He was definitely offered other jobs last year. He has to have answered the PSU questions to many different important people many times. I’m really hoping this will blow over and everything will be alright. Not sure what to think.
It is less to do with his coaching ability and everything to do with the testimony that he knew about Sandusky.
