Sunday night/Monday morning futures begin to be traded. That means a tidal wave of cash is going to be pouring into the BTC game.
Looks like starting with $75 and continuing to dump a little cash as often as I could into BTC was a good move.
Does it? I don't think anyone actually knows how the market will react to the futures. From what I read, all of the Chicago exchange transactions are just in cash, so no one is actually transacting in BTC or forced to buy/hold BTC to pay off a future. Beyond that, there are plenty of people that seem to be lining up to short it (see: rules). Although again I don't know how you can short something this wild. If you took at short position at 10 or 11k, it likely would've been wiped out in the last few days.
XLM and STRAT recently come to mind...depends on your time frame obviously. Long term though I don't think anything has gained relative to BTC.
Same here. It's frustrating, but I'm still going to hold my alts because I'd never be able to buy back in to the large position I'm at now
I just bought a Trezor - did a little bit of research and it seems like it's regarded as one of the safest ways to store Anyone else using a hardware wallet?
so is there any concern that BTC is booming while ETH and LTC are stagnant? I still know nothing about this market so Im trying to learn if the 3 coins are connected
The strategy is relative to the above fact. There just aren’t many alts outperforming or keeping pace with BTC. Secondly, in my short time I’m just not seeing that direct inverse correlation (my biggest alt pumps came when bitcoin was pumping too, and when bitcoin was stagnant or even dipped, alts didn’t do move or actually fell). Maybe it was diffferet earlier in the year, but I’m just not seeing it now. I’m becoming more of a bitcoin maximalist. Alts are primarily traded against BTC or ETH, inflow/outflow pumps BTC. I think the market is reacting. I don’t think you can make similar assumptions with this market compared to traditional markets... News/anticipation isn’t completely priced in in my opinion because this isn’t a sophisticated market with sophisticated investors/institutional guidance. I’m curious to see if the conspiracy theories play out, and by all accounts they have been steady accumulating, but agree it’d take some big ol balls to short this bad boy.
I've been thinking of taking out what I put in to this (plus a little Christmas fun money) and throwing a couple bitcoins on the trezor (not touching for a while) and just seeing where the hell this thing ends up
had a buddy that works for fidelity just text me that his entire office is basically shut down as they are all just watching this thing unfold its scaring everyone to death, they've had clients panicking calling them asking them what to do
Fuck it. Sold my extremely tiny stake in ETH and shifted it to BTC. I’m entertained if this thing keeps skyrocketing. Not like I’m at a point in life yet that I can seriously invest in this. Yay young adulthood.
How are you people with actual money handling this? I have one sad little BTC and my asshole is so puckered I'm leaving diamonds as I walk.
It's gotten to the point where "one sad little BTC" isn't so sad anymore. Think about the % of people have $16,000+ in disposable cash laying around
I think that long-term and once the market matures a bit it will make sense to be in alts with actual use cases, real world application, etc. For now, it seems like a pretty unsophisticated market that is just screaming BTC without regard to anything else. I'm not going to liquidate out of fct, xrp, and ltc, but btc is like 63% of my total holdings and that's a number i'm comfortable with.
Exactly my thoughts. Like... I have no idea why the rise in value of BTC but I'll gladly be along for the ride. IF crypto is the future, we'd be crazy to abandon some of these ALTs when they're literally pennies. Especially since some of them have logical usage in the real world. But I still think relative to USD. I don't even think of Bitcoin as a currency. They're magical beans either taking me to heaven or straight to hell.
Also when BTC goes on runs like this and alts drop, it just makes me wish i had a shitload more money to invest. Might as well buy the alt dips.
ETH doesn’t correlate with BTC. I got that from a bitcoin market explanation from Meryl Lynch for its financial planners.
I asked for clearance to trade BTC and was told we had to schedule an interview with the Clearing Bank. Trying to schedule interview for Friday but was told we are in line
My first futures trade will be a sell. I really just want to follow it until options are traded on it (which i have been told is 6-9 months out).
should I buy litecoin? I'm late to this game. was paying attention in the early days and then stopped, now I feel like a major asshole
Just buy Bitcoin. Don’t overthink it. That said, don’t be surprised if there’s a significant correction in the future.
Also, best wallet? Hardware/software/mobile device? Looking at the Ledger Nano S and don’t know if the expense is necessary.
If you’re going to trade online wallets and exchanges are pretty safe. If you’re going to buy and hold Trezor and Nano are the best.
doing some digging on coinbase, their hidden commission on buying coins is going to end up a problem for them in the future. I get that they are telling you what you are buying BTC at, but the fact that it isn't a listed fee is absolutely an issue.
https://www.coinbase.com/join/583605adab71bb010772027a Got that bitcoin! Got that bitcoin here! 1 for $17.5k! 1 for $17.5k!
Yeah there's massive manipulation going on. They're inflating the price and when the futures trading starts they're going to short the hell out of it.
