It's not like I wanted blake to fail, and I'm happy as hell he's played well. The team looked like garbage preseason, and hindsight is always 20/20. We all want the same thing, so I don't know why anyone cares that I'm wrong. It's not like that's some rare occurrence. I'm also on twitter during games, and seldom here.
I’m from Indy. I was also a Colts fan for Gary Hogeboom, Jeff George & Jim Harbaugh. Having lived here for 14 years now, I’d say I’m pro-Jacksonville, not a Jags fan. The NFL is generally awful & unwatchable
Seriously, if you don't support the Jags, you're not pro-Jacksonville. You're a dolt if you don't get that
I mean, they were facing the best line in the league. I thought you ran it pretty well all things considered
Literally everyone knew you were kidding except for that moron. It's almost staggering how dumb he is
He keeps this up and we make any noise in the playoffs, and the team’s going to be in a real predicament during the offseason.
I’m willing to accept he’s grown under Marrone. But if you make that bet, and he regresses to the Bortles we’ve seen for most of the last 2 years, you’re hampering your team for years.
Yea I'm not willing to bet the future on Bortles bc he's looked like a mid-tier QB for 6 weeks after 3.5 years of him being absolute trash.
And we’re all ecstatic that he’s doing exactly what you’d expect a good QB to against shit teams, but this stretch of good games is against a horrible Colts team, a Seahawks team missing 1/2 of what makes their defense/secondary so good, and a bad Texans team. I don’t need or expect him to be Brady in the playoffs, but if he’s not at least consistently good against playoff teams, I’d feel pretty apprehensive about betting on him long term.
3.5 years in at UCF is about the time he started playing out of his mind at Ucf. This checks out in my homer opinion.
Bortles has looked like a top 5 QB the last two weeks. Sorry, calling his recent play "mid-tier" is frankly hilarious dblplay1212. I was a big Blake hater but he has proven himself, he is surrounded by nothing but rookies and it doesn't matter, he is leading this offense no matter who the next man up is. Made a couple ridiculous throws today, the guy is going to get a massive extension in the near future
I think unless he completely reverts to playing like shit he’s already got that $19 mil or whatever locked up next year. Win a playoff game and there’s his extension.
He's already signed for next year. They have 2 franchise tag years available too. Signing him to a long extension would be dumb.
Talk of an extension based on 6 good weeks when he can't be a FA for another 3 full seasons is really really dumb. There's zero chance that happens. They aren't going to commit $100m+ to a guy for 6 good weeks out of 4 seasons when they don't have to.
you think he's still terrible, that is the only reason you feel this way. I believe he's turned a corner. You will be wrong again, per usual. Extension coming by early next season and it'll save
I'm going to assume Dan is saying some really dumb shit bc that's what he does. He just likes to take the other side of the masses so I already know he wants to sign Bortles to a long deal. Not even going to waste the time hitting show ignored comments.
This is really cool dbl, it's clear you didn't read my post and have no clue what I said. Everyone believes that
I don't want to sign him to an extension yet. But if he proves himself next year, give him the long term contract
Depending on how good next year was, I could be ok with that. If it's just middle of the pack QB play that feels much better bc of how bad he's been, I'd be ok with using the franchise tag for a season or two. We just don't need to be in a hurry to sign him. There's no reason to rush at all. We have at least 2 seasons before that decision has to be made.
Unless something bad happens they are going to pay him his option deal next year and if he has a strong playoff you could see them try to work something out this offseason. If not, they prob wait to see how the next season starts. You can't get yourself into a Cousins situation and try to just keep tagging him til you are paying him $40 mill a year.
