I can't help it. I wanna be normal and like TDK more, I certainly prefer the villain, it's just I enjoy watching the origin story more and it always reminds me of how mind blown I was by it the first time I saw it.
The Prestige is on Vice. Lol Angier seems like a bigger and bigger piece of shit every time I watch this movie
I just cheer for Michael Cane. Even Bowie is technically a con man in the movie. Great film though; maybe Nolan's best
Inception, Interstellar, and The Prestige get below 75 metascores (74,74,66) and movies like Roma gets a 96
Since we love to rank. Here are mine — Nolan edition: 1. The Dark Knight 2. Inception 3. The Dark Knight Rises 4. Interstellar 5. Dunkirk 6. Batman Begins 7. Insomnia 8. The Prestige ** I haven’t seen Memento in so long I’m not going to rank it.
The definitive list: The Prestige TDK Inception Interstellar Batman Begins Memento Dunkrik The Dark Knight Rises Insomnia Have not seen the following
The Prestige The Dark Knight Inception Dunkirk Interstellar Memento Batman Begins Insomnia The Dark Knight Rises Following
Rises has great performances, but Bane ending up as just a henchman and everyone and their mom knowing Bruce Wayne is Batman was horrendous.
I mean Roma is a masterpiece and Interstellar's last half is terrible so yeah I guess that makes sense
I didn’t like the prestige. I ranked rises that high because of the build up and it being the final chapter in what was arguably the best superhero trilogy ever.
Interstellar and Inception are largely the same movie if you think about it. Cobb has to do one final mission to get back home and see his kids. Cooper has to go on one mission to save the world and go back and see his kids. Cooper is fighting against time and Cob is fighting against reality. The thing that separates inception and makes it a better movie imo is the vagueness of the ending where you're still unsure about what's reality and what's not. Interstellar on the other hand was wrapped up too neatly for a film like that and I think slightly suffered because of it. Imagine how harrowing of an ending it would have been if it ended like this I read that it was orginally meant to end like that but it was considered to be too depressing and scrapped especially for a movie that's centered around the strength and perseverance of the human spirit.
I agree that inception is better in totality but I think there are parts of interstellar that surpass inception. The docking scene for one is incredible. Also McConaughey does some really good acting.
For sure the docking scene was amazing top 3 nolan scene imo. The guy is unrivaled technically. These are my other 2 Oh and obviously this TDK scene where they didn't use cgi but actually flipped a god damn 16 wheeler in the streets of chicago
Nolan only uses cgi when there's no other way practically or it's unsafe to do practically which is the way I'd do it. Cgi puts a palpable veneer over movies that I don't care for
Love Interstellar more than most. The ending is meh and rewatchability is not great but the takeoff scene in IMAX was probably the best movie theater experience of my life. Seeing the gravity waves and the actual 3D version of a black hole and the event horizon made from physics equations was bad fucking ass too. Takes a small hit due to story though.
