should the Tigers flip the talented 2019 quarterback from the Aggies, LSU coach Ed Orgeron made a unique promise to Gunnell. “He said if I commit, he’ll bring the tiger down to my signing day,” Gunnell said, with a chuckle
looks like the names so far for the OC gig are Jake Spavital devine and Mike Yurchich (OkSt OC) #Oklahoma State Cowboys
Used to work w/ him, but it's probably a bad idea any ways. He doesn't use legos to design offensive plays like Yurchich does.
My favorite Jake play was first and goal on the 1/2 inch line when he had Will Grier roll out and break his hand diving for the endzone

As of Monday at lunch, there’s been no hire made official or anything like that. I am told something could wrap up at some point this week ahead of the NCAA’s recruiting dead period coming to an end. Friday is the first date for contact again, and LSU is bringing in official visitors, including three guys they want to close with in WR JaMarr Chase, CB Mario Goodrich and CB Patrick Surtain Jr. What we know so far is this. Hugh Freeze was not someone that they were going to hire for the OC job, so while his name has been tossed around, it wasn’t going to be the one they landed on by any stretch. Kendal Briles was a name that was brought up, but LSU is not making any moves there and he has accepted the Houston OC job (with other titles) after spending this past year at FAU. A couple names that came up from Sonny’s sources were Kentucky’s Eddie Gran and Oklahoma State OC Mike Yurcich. Both played college ball in California, with Gran from California and Yurcich from Ohio. Yurcich has been at OSU with Mike Gundy since 2013, while Gran has been at Kentucky since 2016 after a short stint at Cincinnati. We were able to find out that South Florida OC Sterlin Gilbert did not interview with the Tigers on Saturday. There was speculation out there that the meeting happened. It doesn’t mean he isn’t someone they have taken a look at, but there was no meeting two days ago. Gilbert had been at Texas as OC in 2016 after a year at Tulsa in 2015. You will hear other names being tossed around, but we still believe that Steve Ensminger, who was Ed Orgeron’s OC last season during the interim stretch, is the leader in the clubhouse. We’ve also mentioned the possibility of them moving longtime NFL assistant Jerry Sullivan into an on-field role with the offense so he can go one-on-one with players each day, plus bring his experience to the passing attack (he coached WR’s for most of his NFL career). Now, this is not something that has been some big secret. Orgeron has praised Sullivan time and again for his work on staff this past year, and he mentioned Ensminger as a possible OC candidate if Matt Canada was no longer at LSU. These are guys he has worked with and wants to have more responsibility on staff. Orgeron knows Ensminger and Sullivan both well, he’s worked alongside them at LSU so he trusts their knowledge of what LSU needs on offense, and Ensminger is who Orgeron chose for the OC job last year during the interim run, and he did well with Cam Cameron’s offense on short order. When you lay out the pieces of what we’ve said and heard publicly from Orgeron, that route seems very plausible. That’s why we have felt that, coupled with what we have heard, there was a leader in the clubhouse and a path from Orgeron to build out a staff where each assistant offered up things he valued and felt played well together. Others have been/are being considered by different parties, but at the end of the day I think what we will see is that it’s Orgeron hire to make as all involved know the outcome (positive, negative or in between) will weigh into the mix of what his future holds as head coach. Like any head coach, the call will come down to what he wants and thinks is best. I don’t think we hear anything today (Monday) about things, but perhaps as the week unfolds some news will break of which direction they are going to go. We go into this week with our ear to the ground, but believing things stand as we mentioned above.
It could totally happen this way and that's what most folks are hearing (Ensminger getting the OC job). But something just seems off. Why would they be waiting? Canada deal is official and SE is on staff, so just make the announcement if that is the case.
There's been a lot of talk that we may have been able to get rid of him with cause. Obviously it was debatable or we would have done so and not paid anything, but if it was a grey area it was probably easiest for both parties.
Don't really know. But something further along the insubordination end of the spectrum than the scandal end.
Someone posted this on TD during the CFBNG. The entire timeline COULD be legit. But it seems to clean cut for the CEO/Alleva era
Unless the people he works with "who donate thousands" are Joe Alleva or Rick Perry, I'm calling BS. Middle of the pack Joe Booster doesn't know shit. There are folks on the TAF board who don't know what's going on. He might get some info, but he's making up that timeline. Does anyone think that after getting turned down by Lane last year, O really was going to ask Lane to step down as HC to become OC? He's right about Ensminger not wanting the job, but I think most people knew that. I hate TD so much...
It's hard to express how terrible of a hire that is. Especially when Orgeron got the job by promising how great his coordinators would be.
He graduated, right? Cant blame him for wanting to start a new career. But youre right, he was good and now depth is an issue.
Speaking of Bruce talking him up: Bruce FeldmanVerified account @BruceFeldmanCFB 24h24 hours ago Steve Ensminger is being promoted to OC at #LSU. The Tigers averaged 32 ppg during his 8-game stint as offensive coordinator/play-caller in 2016. He’ll take over for Matt Canada.
Figured. That's the equivalent of everybody talking up Missouri's offense to end the season. They both played a lot of horrible defenses down the stretch.
It's definitely the smart decision, but more importantly because he has been a big injury plagued in his career and doesn't want to take anymore chances. Still sucks.
Still don't understand why LSU doesn't just make Aranda the HC. Doubt that move would have any more downside than what they are doing, and probably has a lot more upside.
