This deal might work out for us if Griffin doesn't pout about coming here and stays reasonably healthy. This upside of this trade doesn't come close to the risk involved, though.
I think it’s a good deal? Don’t love losing a pick, but they get by far the best player for a guy they were gonna lose, and an up and down player in Harris we weren’t going to want to pay. What’s a better deal than that?
I'm going to spend the rest of the night watching Blake Griffin highlights on YouTube to talk myself into this. I think we can get there by the time he debuts this week.
Don't mind this deal either but have to imagine there's more in the works. Lineup seems to still have a lot of holes for them to be in a win now mode
Blake is the best player in the deal, but he also has the worst contract in the deal. That's where my concern is.
It would have cost $20 mil plus to keep either Harris or Bradley. Players are getting ridiculous contracts now.
My biggest fear in this: The Clippers are 25-24 and in 9th place in the West (1 GB of the 8th spot) with a +0.5 point differential. The Pistons are 22-26 and in 9th place in the East (3 GB of the 8th spot) with a -0.6 point differential. No one knows Blake as well as the Clippers (on and off the court). So why are we going all in to acquire him while they're happy to trade him to us, considering we're in the exact same position currently? It's just weird.
I guess, but gotta spend $ on someone. He’s the closest to a star we’re gonna get - would rather spend on him than giving it to guys we have to overpay for.
My buddy texted me that the reason Blake is cool with coming to Detroit is because we play in a new arena and the Rockets don’t know how to get around LCA yet.
If we unretire Richard Hamilton's #32 so Blake can wear it, I will take back all the bad things I said about this trade.
Kind of hoping we start Galloway at the point until Jackson is back. The best asset Blake brings to the table is the ability to create shots. It's a waste to put him and Ish on the floor at the same time given the current options. Maybe that will get Galloway going, too.
Beard thinks they miss Thursday, as well, and debut on Saturday. So we should be about 5 games out by then.
I still have issues with this deal over the long haul and how much risk we're taking, but I'm excited to see how it works out. If nothing else, at least we're kind of interesting now.
As an aside, I was at Sheed’s first game after the trade to Detroit where he had to be pulled halfway through the game due to a paperwork issue. Imagine not having a smart phone and being totally clueless as to what was happening; people were livid at Brown.
Starting line-up tonight is: Ish Bullock Johnson Griffin Drummond Stan has already said he plans to play Griffin minutes as the back-up 5 and try to have one of the two bigs out there as much as possible. Curious if he's ready to do that tonight already and how that will work in terms of minutes for everyone else.
