You have giant weapons you don't have a parry button but you can time your slash to knock back a snap or stun the creature. It is all about learning what parts of the monster can be cut off
You will like the challenge and learning attack patterns and learning everything from weaknesses and strengths of each monster. Each monster has multiple attacks, elemental attacks, as they get closer to death they go into an enraged mode and the monsters have their own stamina so they will daze and tire themselves out as well leaving them vulnerable.
My only complaint so far is that there isn’t any real character customization. I was hoping that the more you use a weapon, the more proficient you get with it. Like if there was a skill tree for each weapon to learn attack combos/parry/buffs/debuffs and whatnot. I want my dual blade bitch to be slicing and dicing with cool moves to learn, not just the same attacks for every battle. I fear the combat might get a little stale after a while. Other than that, I’m enjoying the shit out of it.
Finally getting to start it. CUtigers48 on twitch if anyone wants to watch me struggle. Pretty sure I'm going to have no clue what's going on. Never played a monster hunter before
Kill monsters make weapons and armor from them tons of customization once you break into a weapon path
Yeah. That stuff is cool. But it would be coolER if I went in as a rogue type character to do some precise damage/debuff a monster for my heavy hitter buddy to come in for some big damage. I’m gonna be playing some later, but I’m probably just gonna run solo until I really figure out what I’m doing. I do look forward to hooking up with you fellas on some hunts in the future, though.
Cut off tail , break their skull , tire them out putting them down on their back? Sever bonus stat weapons / armor skills
agreed. all the combat is kind of just there from the beginning. some skill tree like is in reckoning (seriously great game regardless of curt schilling) or even something simple like a dmc type situation would be great.
People are really digging this game atm and it already has a p big existing base to go with. If they keep content coming, this may be the game to watch console wise in the coming year
I’m loving it. I think I’ve just hit the point where you need to make better usage of traps and bait in order to succeed more often. My biggest complaint with it is the online matchmaking. It’s something that seems prevalent in Japanese developer games. It’s not a big deal after you learn the system, but it’d just be better if I were able to just stay in my friend’s game continuously until I wanted to leave.
Nah, I mean just being able to play mission to mission without having to leave because the host player hasn’t finished watching all the cutscenes yet. And if I haven’t seen the cutscenes I have to start my own mission, watch all the cutscenes, and then join my friend.
Yeah i got on and did the intro and fucked around with the tutorial. Hopefully gonna dive into it tonight
I've been taking care of a very sick pregnant gf(who thankfully was negative for the flu) so I'm looking forward to picking it back up after being away for a few days.
Damn just took down the great jagras, know I’m noob but damn that was intense and exciting. Can’t wait till this game is fluid to me and i don’t have to think about the attacks or actions I’m trying to make
Is there a story to the game or is it just hunt/mission based? Also, is it fun single player or is it made for parties?
There is a story from what I've been told but it is mostly just to continue on from mission/hunt to next area. Playing solo is great playing in a party is great
Anybody playing on xbox? I know ps4 is a more popular choice, but I don't want to renew PS plus and I want to play this game co-op.
I am, and I believe Space has it as well. I’m already a good deal into it, so I feel like I can help out on any questions you have.
I guess the main question, can I party up with someone like you that has tons of time in the game? Or am I limited to partying up with only new players?
You can only play quests that you’ve unlocked, so people ahead of you in the story can come help you, but not vice versa.
Another damn Rathian escaped but holy shit in the middle of our fight 2 more monsters got into a turf war and all 3 were fighting each other and going after me
