Where did last season leave off? I remember Monica dying and Fiona buying the property. Anything big I'm forgetting?
They had a fair amount of crystal meth from Monica. I think they sold some of it but Fiona put most of it in her casket so they wouldn't sell or use the rest.
I think I'm out on this show. The last couple seasons have been too similar and I don't wanna watch that again.
Checked out beginning of last season and have just been waiting for some reviews to pull me back but that hasn't happened. Other than seeing Emmy naked I don't miss it at all.
In an odd way this show is following a similar fate as Silicon Valley. The formula is the same- things seem like they may break for one (or more) of them, then they Gallagher themselves back to poverty and/or addiction. At some point, something has to progress. Someone has to change or mature. Otherwise, it becomes stale and predictable. We are right about at that point. Not to mention, they've got to be pretty close to being out of ideas to shock us with ridiculous shit frank does for comic relief.
I agree, it has gone down hill the last few seasons but its still p good tv and better than 80% of shows on tv imo.
She’s honestly one of the characters I hate most on television. Just the worst, and not in any fun ways.
Agreed, season 3 was the worst so far for me. But I'm halfway through season 4 and really, really enjoying it. Haven't read the thread, will probably only read if anyone quotes me because I know I'm way behind, but scattered thoughts: Favorite character is Kevin, followed closely by Lip. Seeing Lip finally apply himself at college, and seeing his grades steadily improve, is awesome. I'm sure the rug will be pulled out sooner rather than later. Karl is probably next Fiona is so fucking frustrating. Stop being such a damn whore. This probably isn't some astute observation, but Fiona is really fucking up this season. I know she got her job and is giving time to herself, but should've thought about that before getting guardianship of the kids. She's always made out to be the most likable/responsible character, but things changed really quick in this regard Like I said, I'm only halfway through season 4, but fucking A things went off the rails quick--Liam's cocaine overdose, Fiona in jail, Ian yakked out of his mind working at that gay club, Frank on the death bed (although not that worried about Frank's situation because I know he'll make it out--trouble with watching a show that's been around a few years) Sheila gives me anxiety every time she's on screen. I also really like Mickey as a character. Not expecting it, but would be nice if he could come out of the closet at some point in the series No chance in hell Jimmy is dead.
She hasn't gotten naked much this season or last. There's been a real lack of tits to be quite honest. I've compared it to GoT, where after a few seasons of orgies and titties, shit started to dry up.
Not the best season finale. Especially after how great last season wrapped up a lot of story lines. I bet Lip keeps that girl who was abandoned at the shop. They had 3-4 scenes this season where they focused on Lip's affection for kids and I bet they spin it where he adopts or becomes his foster father or something. Overall, every story line wasn't that great this year and I would have finished the show last year even though I still enjoy it.
It was more positive season ending than usual. There was some character growth even with crazy situations. -Liam not robbing his friend -Carl going back to school -Fiona getting rid of squatters -Lip not jumping into a bad relationship with ex or drinking. -Ian went to jail, but found a purpose -Debbie may give partial custody and get child support
I can't remember if this has ever been discussed, but there is definitely a bi-polar aspect to the seasons right? The winter seasons are normally more depressing and sad and the summer seasons are more up beat.
I was kinda getting worn out by the the show. This last season was spectacular and I might actually watch this season as it airs for the first time in years.
I took a hiatus after season 7. Was so disappointed. Just binged season 8 and I agree, it’s incredible.
