The docuseries Dirty Money is out today on Netflix. I've only watched the first couple eps but it is pretty good.
So just did some researching and found on the internet that Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable is fake. The artist faked everything. Am I the only one that thought it was real?

Watched Thought Crime: Cannibal Cop on HBOGO the other night. Pretty interesting NYPD cop goes onto fetish websites and talks about how he would like to kidnap, rape, and eat woman. Woman he talks about are people he knows. Wife finds out and turns him in. He’s arrested for conspiracy to kidnap. Question becomes: when do thoughts cross the line and acted upon?
I also enjoyed Icarus...a question for y'all...do you think the film loses anything because of the fact that, iirc, the filmmaker makes pretty much no improvement from using the drugs the Russian was giving him? Unless I am remembering that wrong, I recall him doing worse in several stages or having very little total improvement from when he was clean
Watched the first ep of the docuseries The Trade on Showtime. Pretty darn good. It focuses on stories from all sides of the opioid epidemic, from production to user. Sort of the doc version of the movie Traffic. Director also did the docs Cartel Land and City of Ghosts. Guy does a great job getting access.
I dont think so. He may have already tapped out himself physically. I work with a guy that is a powerlifter. Played at Clemson and NFL as a Tackle. I asked him if he thought abt using HGH/Roids to get his numbers up. He told me at the weight he is lifting, would only see marginal improvement so reward is not worth the risk (how expensive it is). So my take on it is the guy was already close to his max potential and other guys that were doping were just better. For whatever reason, they were built to be faster and no matter what he did to catch them he couldn't. Thats my 2 cents.
I agree. I think he realized and it makes a good point that the drugs can only help so much at the highest of levels. You still have to have natural ability. Also, didn’t his gears mess up which dropped him back one of the days?
Read something this week about how he said his cocktail wasn't some miracle potion but more something that could turn a silver medalist into a gold medalist Was definitely intrigued by that part then it just did a 180 and turned into all about Rodchenkov which I was fine with.
Yeah, I seem to remember his gears messing up. He acted as if by taking these drugs that it would even the playing field. In theory, it would. But the prooblem is his opponents were at another level physically through genetics. If all the bicyclists weren't doping those guys would still be better. Learned a lot about this type of stuff through guy I work with. Not to derail thread but dude is 6'4 and lifting weight is 350 all while having 17% body fat. His diet is bananas. This was from a few years ago so his PRs and totals have gone up. But even with drugs, he couldnt match guys at the top.
I brought this documentary up in another thread, but want to recommend it again here for anyone that hasn't seen it. Its called 32 hours 7 minutes, it chronicles a relatively recent car trip by a guy trying to break the record from NY to LA. Fascinating doc.
Great documentary. I had forgotten all of the particulars about how Putin consolidated his power, but he's obviously a malicious motherfucker. Changing the national anthem back to the one Stalin used was probably not a good sign.
Watched “Impact After the Crash” last night on Prime. About a school bus crash in Kentucky where almost everyone on board died because of the poor design on the bus. It was incredibly sad for most of it but interesting. Filmed in 2016 but crash occurred in the late 80’s so the where are they now is very interesting.
One of the key points in icarus was how much oxygen your blood can carry. Drugs don't improve that and unless you have the right ratio you can only get so good. Confirms a genetic component to ultra high performance
The fuel tank was wide open and exposed, very little protection. They later added steel bars around it but they were never added to this bus so when it was hit the fuel immediately went up. Also, there was only the main door and the rear emergency exit on the bus. The windows couldn’t open all the way and the roof hatch that is on buses now wasn’t there.
Just watched this one the other night about bourbon. Its more of an informative Doc than a story but its beautifully filmed and has some great interviews.
Anyone watched Bobby Fischer Against the World on hbo? Probably my favorite sports doc if you’d want to call it that.
I can't remember if this one was posted, but holy shit. Who all has seen Mommy Dead and Dearest? It's crazy. You can watch on HBO GO or youtube. Using spoilers to discuss, but considering it's a documentary about real recent events, I probably don't need to. Spoiler First off, props to the prosecutors handling the case as it should be handled. The story is insane, and I'm inclined to be on Gypsy's side. That said, how much of her mother's manipulation did she inherit? Someone should investigate the Shampoo lady.

Even if you have no concept of or interest in alpinism, the obstacles conquered and determination illustrated showcases the mind's incredible role in the spectacularly gray area between madness and greatness.
